ਆਪ ਹੀ ਧਾਰਨ ਧਾਰੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਹੈ ਦੇਖਾਰੇ ਬਰਨੁ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਖ ਨ ਮਸਾਰੇ ॥ aap hee dhaaran dhaare kudarat hai dekhaare baran chihan naahee mukh na masaare | He Himself supports the Universe, revealing His All-powerful Creative Potency. He has no color, form, mouth or beard. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੁਲਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਏਕ ਜੀਹ ਕਿਆ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥ jan naanak bhagat dar tul braham samasar ek jeeh kiaa bakhaanai | Your devotees are at Your Door, O God - they are just like You. How can servant Nanak describe them with only one tongue? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ haan ki bal bal bal bal sad balihaar |3| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, forever a sacrifice to them. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੰ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨ ਗੵਾਨੰ ਧੵਾਨੰ ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚੌ ਜਾਨੀਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਥਾਨੰ ॥ sarab gun nidhaanan keemat na gayaanan dhayaanan aooche te aoochau jaaneejai prabh tero thaanan | You are the Treasure of all virtue; who can know the value of Your spiritual wisdom and meditation? O God, Your Place is known as the highest of the high. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੰ ਏਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਹਾਨੰ ਕਵਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਦੇਉ ਬਡੇ ਤੇ ਬਡਾਨੰ ॥ man dhan tero praanan ekai soot hai jahaanan kavan upamaa deo badde te baddaanan | Mind, wealth and the breath of life belong to You alone, Lord. The world is strung upon Your Thread. What praises can I give to You? You are the Greatest of the great. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾਨੈ ਕਉਨੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਭੇਉ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਦੇਉ ਅਕਲ ਕਲਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਧਾਨੰ ॥ jaanai kaun tero bheo alakh apaar deo akal kalaa hai prabh sarab ko dhaanan | Who can know Your Mystery? O Unfathomable, Infinite, Divine Lord, Your Power is unstoppable. O God, You are the Support of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਰਖਵੰਤ ਆਨੰਤ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੀ ॥ harakhavant aanant roop niramal bigaasee | Blissful, Unlimited, Beautiful, Immaculate, Blossoming Lord: - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਸੀ ॥ gun gaaveh beant ant ik til nahee paasee | Countless are those who sing Your Glorious Praises, but they do not know even a tiny bit of Your extent. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਹੋਂਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਸੀ ॥ jaa kau honhi kripaal su jan prabh tumeh milaasee | That humble being upon whom You shower Your Mercy meets with You, O God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਜਿਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਯਉ ॥ dhan dhan te dhan jan jih kripaal har har bhyau | Blessed, blessed, blessed are those humble beings, upon whom the Lord, Har, Har, showers His Mercy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨ ਪਰਸਿਅਉ ਸਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹ ਥੇ ਰਹਿਓ ॥੫॥ har gur naanak jin parasiaau si janam maran duh the rahio |5| Whoever meets with the Lord through Guru Nanak is rid of both birth and death. ||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤੇ ਸਤਿ ਭਣੀਐ ॥ sat sat har sat sat sate sat bhaneeai | The Lord is said to be True, True, True, True, the Truest of the True. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੂਸਰ ਆਨ ਨ ਅਵਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਊਰਾਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥ doosar aan na avar purakh paooraatan suneeai | There is no other like Him. He is the Primal Being, the Primal Soul. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਮਨਿ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥ amrit har ko naam lait man sabh sukh paae | Chanting the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, the mortal is blessed with all comforts. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੇਹ ਰਸਨ ਚਾਖਿਓ ਤੇਹ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ॥ jeh rasan chaakhio teh jan tripat aghaae | Those who taste it with their tongues, those humble beings are satisfied and fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਹ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਭਯੋੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ jih tthaakur suprasan bhayuo satasangat tih piaar | That person who becomes pleasing to his Lord and Master, loves the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨੑ ਪਰਸਿਓ ਤਿਨੑ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਕੀਓ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੬॥ har gur naanak jina parasio tina sabh kul keeo udhaar |6| Whoever meets with the Lord through Guru Nanak, saves all his generations. ||6|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸਭਾ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਪਹਿ ਧਰਿਓ ॥ sach sabhaa deebaan sach sache peh dhario | True is His Congregation and His Court. The True Lord has established Truth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਕਰਿਓ ॥ sachai takhat nivaas sach tapaavas kario | Sitting upon His Throne of Truth, He administers True Justice. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਚਿ ਸਿਰਜੵਿਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਆਭੁਲੁ ਨ ਭੁਲਉ ॥ sach sirajayiau sansaar aap aabhul na bhulau | The True Lord Himself fashioned the Universe. He is Infallible, and does not make mistakes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਤਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਕੀਮ ਨਹੁ ਪਵੈ ਅਮੁਲਉ ॥ ratan naam apaar keem nahu pavai amulau | The Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord, is the jewel. Its value cannot be appraised - it is priceless. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਯਉ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਤਿਨਹੂ ਪਾਏ ॥ jih kripaal hoyau guobind sarab sukh tinahoo paae | That person, upon whom the Lord of the Universe showers His Mercy obtains all comforts. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨੑ ਪਰਸਿਓ ਤੇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥੭॥ har gur naanak jina parasio te bahurr fir jon na aae |7| Those who touch the Feet of the Lord through Guru Nanak, do not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation ever again. ||7|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਵਨੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਗੵਾਨੁ ਧੵਾਨੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਸ੍ਤਤਿ ਕਰੀਐ ॥ kavan jog kaun gayaan dhayaan kavan bidh ustat kareeai | What is the Yoga, what is the spiritual wisdom and meditation, and what is the way, to praise the Lord? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਕੋਰਿ ਤਿਰੁ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਰੀਐ ॥ sidh saadhik tetees kor tir keem na pareeai | The Siddhas and seekers and the three hundred thirty million gods cannot find even a tiny bit of the Lord’s Value. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਸਨਕਾਦਿ ਸੇਖ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ brahamaadik sanakaad sekh gun ant na paae | Neither Brahma, nor Sanak, nor the thousand-headed serpent king can find the limits of His Glorious Virtues. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਗਹੁ ਗਹਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਪੂਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ agahu gahio nahee jaae poor srab rahio samaae | The Inapprehensible Lord cannot be apprehended. He is pervading and permeating amongst all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਹ ਕਾਟੀ ਸਿਲਕ ਦਯਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸੇਇ ਜਨ ਲਗੇ ਭਗਤੇ ॥ jih kaattee silak dayaal prabh see jan lage bhagate | Those whom God has mercifully freed from their nooses - those humble beings are attached to His devotional worship. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨੑ ਪਰਸਿਓ ਤੇ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤੇ ॥੮॥ har gur naanak jina parasio te it ut sadaa mukate |8| Those who meet with the Lord through Guru Nanak are liberated forever, here and hereafter. ||8|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤਉ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪਰੵਿਉ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਸਰਨਾ ॥ prabh daatau daataar parayiau jaachak ik saranaa | I am a beggar; I seek the Sanctuary of God, the Giver of givers. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਨ ਜੇਹ ਲਗਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਨਾ ॥ milai daan sant ren jeh lag bhaujal taranaa | Please bless me with the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints; grasping them, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਜੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ binat krau aradaas sunahu je tthaakur bhaavai | Please listen to my prayer, if it pleases You, O my Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
