ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਐਸਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਜਿ ਤੋਰੈ ਬਿਖਮ ਗਾਂਠਿ ॥ hai koaoo aisaa meet ji torai bikham gaantth | Is there any such friend, who can untie this difficult knot? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਨਾਥੁ ਜਿ ਟੂਟੇ ਲੇਇ ਸਾਂਠਿ ॥੧੫॥ naanak ik sreedhar naath ji ttootte lee saantth |15| O Nanak, the One Supreme Lord and Master of the earth reunites the separated ones. ||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਾਵਉ ਦਸਾ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਰਣੇ ॥ dhaavau dasaa anek prem prabh kaarane | I run around in all directions, searching for the love of God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੰਚ ਸਤਾਵਹਿ ਦੂਤ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਰਣੇ ॥ panch sataaveh doot kavan bidh maarane | The five evil enemies are tormenting me; how can I destroy them? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੀਖਣ ਬਾਣ ਚਲਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧੵਾਈਐ ॥ teekhan baan chalaae naam prabh dhayaaeeai | Shoot them with the sharp arrows of meditation on the Name of God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਂ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਘਾਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧੬॥ harihaan mahaan bikhaadee ghaat pooran gur paaeeai |16| O Lord! The way to slaughter these terrible sadistic enemies is obtained from the Perfect Guru. ||16|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟਈ ॥ satigur keenee daat mool na nikhuttee | The True Guru has blessed me with the bounty which shall never be exhausted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖਾਵਹੁ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਛੁਟਈ ॥ khaavahu bhunchahu sabh guramukh chhuttee | Eating and consuming it, all the Gurmukhs are emancipated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਤੁਸਿ ਹਰਿ ॥ amrit naam nidhaan ditaa tus har | The Lord, in His Mercy, has blessed me with the treasure of the Ambrosial Naam. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਜਾਂਹਿ ਮਰਿ ॥੧੭॥ naanak sadaa araadh kade na jaanhi mar |17| O Nanak, worship and adore the Lord, who never dies. ||17|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਥੈ ਜਾਏ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ॥ jithai jaae bhagat su thaan suhaavanaa | Wherever the Lord’s devotee goes is a blessed, beautiful place. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਾ ॥ sagale hoe sukh har naam dhiaavanaa | All comforts are obtained, meditating on the Lord’s Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਅ ਕਰਨਿ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮੁਏ ਪਚਿ ॥ jeea karan jaikaar nindak mue pach | People praise and congratulate the devotee of the Lord, while the slanderers rot and die. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਜਨ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ॥੧੮॥ saajan man aanand naanak naam jap |18| Says Nanak, O friend, chant the Naam, and your mind shall be filled with bliss. ||18|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਵਨ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਤਹ ਨਹੀ ਸੇਵੀਐ ॥ paavan patit puneet katah nahee seveeai | The mortal never serves the Immaculate Lord, the Purifier of sinners. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਝੂਠੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ਕਹਾਂ ਲਗੁ ਖੇਵੀਐ ॥ jhootthai rang khuaar kahaan lag kheveeai | The mortal wastes away in false pleasures. How long can this go on? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ harichandauree pekh kaahe sukh maaniaa | Why do you take such pleasure, looking at this mirage? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਜਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧੯॥ harihaan hau balihaaree tin ji darageh jaaniaa |19| O Lord! I am a sacrifice to those who are known and approved in the Court of the Lord. ||19|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਨੇ ਕਰਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਗਵਾਰ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਘਨ ॥ keene karam anek gavaar bikaar ghan | The fool commits countless foolish actions and so many sinful mistakes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਗੰਧਤ ਵਾਸੁ ਸਠ ਕਾ ਛਾਰੁ ਤਨ ॥ mahaa drugandhat vaas satth kaa chhaar tan | The fool’s body smells rotten, and turns to dust. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਫਿਰਤਉ ਗਰਬ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨਹ ਜਾਨਈ ॥ firtau garab gubaar maran neh jaanee | He wanders lost in the darkness of pride, and never thinks of dying. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਾਨਈ ॥੨੦॥ harihaan harichandauree pekh kaahe sach maanee |20| O Lord! The mortal gazes upon the mirage; why does he think it is true? ||20|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਪੂਜੈ ਅਉਧ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਉਣੁ ਰਾਖਈ ॥ jis kee poojai aaudh tisai kaun raakhee | When someone’s days are over, who can save him? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੈਦਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਹਾਂ ਲਉ ਭਾਖਈ ॥ baidak anik upaav kahaan lau bhaakhee | How long can the physicians go on, suggesting various therapies? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਕੋ ਚੇਤਿ ਗਵਾਰ ਕਾਜਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਆਵਈ ॥ eko chet gavaar kaaj terai aavee | You fool, remember the One Lord; only He shall be of use to you in the end. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਵਈ ॥੨੧॥ harihaan bin naavai tan chhaar brithaa sabh jaavee |21| O Lord! Without the Name, the body turns to dust, and everything goes to waste. ||21|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਉਖਧੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਪੀਜਈ ॥ aaukhadh naam apaar amolak peejee | Drink in the medicine of the Incomparable, Priceless Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਦੀਜਈ ॥ mil mil khaaveh sant sagal kau deejee | Meeting and joining together, the Saints drink it in, and give it to everyone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਪਾਵਣੇ ॥ jisai paraapat hoe tisai hee paavane | He alone is blessed with it, who is destined to receive it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨੑ ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਰਾਵਣੇ ॥੨੨॥ harihaan hau balihaaree tina ji har rang raavane |22| O Lord! I am a sacrifice to those who enjoy the Love of the Lord. ||22|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵੈਦਾ ਸੰਦਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਇਕਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ॥ vaidaa sandaa sang ikatthaa hoeaa | The physicians meet together in their assembly. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਉਖਦ ਆਏ ਰਾਸਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਖਲੋਇਆ ॥ aaukhad aae raas vich aap khaloeaa | The medicines are effective, when the Lord Himself stands in their midst. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਓਨਾ ਕਰਮ ਸੁਕਰਮ ਹੋਇ ਪਸਰਿਆ ॥ jo jo onaa karam sukaram hoe pasariaa | Their good deeds and karma become apparent. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿਹਾਂ ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਖਿਸਰਿਆ ॥੨੩॥ harihaan dookh rog sabh paap tan te khisariaa |23| O Lord! Pains, diseases and sins all vanish from their bodies. ||23|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੰਮਨ ਜਉ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਦਮ ਕੵਿਹੁ ਹੋਤੀ ਸਾਟ ॥ saman jau is prem kee dam kayihu hotee saatt | O Samman, if one could buy this love with money, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਵਨ ਹੁਤੇ ਸੁ ਰੰਕ ਨਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਾਟਿ ॥੧॥ raavan hute su rank neh jin sir deene kaatt |1| then consider Raawan the king. He was not poor, but he could not buy it, even though he offered his head to Shiva. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤਨੁ ਖਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬੀਚੁ ਨ ਰਾਈ ਹੋਤ ॥ preet prem tan khach rahiaa beech na raaee hot | My body is drenched in love and affection for the Lord; there is no distance at all between us. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਓ ਬੂਝਨੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੨॥ charan kamal man bedhio boojhan surat sanjog |2| My mind is pierced through by the Lotus Feet of the Lord. He is realized when one’s intuitive consciousness is attuned to Him. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
