ਜਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥ jeh sevak gopaal gusaaee | where the servants of the Lord of the World abide. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ prabh suprasan bhe gopaal | God, the Lord of the World, is pleased and satisfied with me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਬਿਤਾਲ ॥੫॥ janam janam ke mitte bitaal |5| My disharmony with Him of so many lifetimes is ended. ||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਉਰਧ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ hom jag uradh tap poojaa | Burnt offerings, sacred feasts, intense meditations with the body upside-down, worship services - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੀਜਾ ॥ kott teerath isanaan kareejaa | and taking millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਮਖ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਾਰੇ ॥ charan kamal nimakh ridai dhaare |
- the merits of all these are obtained by enshrining the Lord’s Lotus Feet within the heart, even for an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੬॥ gobind japat sabh kaaraj saare |6| Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, all one’s affairs are resolved. ||6|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਥਾਨੁ ॥ aooche te aoochaa prabh thaan | God’s Place is the highest of the high. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ har jan laaveh sehaj dhiaan | The Lord’s humble servants intuitively focus their meditation on Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਂਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ daas daasan kee baanchhau dhoor | I long for the dust of the slaves of the Lord’s slaves. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੭॥ sarab kalaa preetam bharapoor |7| My Beloved Lord is overflowing with all powers. ||7|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ maat pitaa har preetam neraa | My Beloved Lord, my Mother and Father, is always near. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ meet saajan bharavaasaa teraa | O my Friend and Companion, You are my Trusted Support. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥ kar geh leene apune daas | God takes His slaves by the hand, and makes them His Own. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੮॥੩॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥ jap jeevai naanak gunataas |8|3|2|7|12| Nanak lives by meditating on the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue. ||8||3||2||7||12|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਰਨ ਜੀਵਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਕਾ ਨਾਸੀ ॥ maran jeevan kee sankaa naasee | My anxious fears of death and rebirth have been taken away. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਪਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਹਜ ਪਰਗਾਸੀ ॥੧॥ aapan rang sehaj paragaasee |1| The Celestial Lord has shown His Love for me. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥ pragattee jot mittiaa andhiaaraa | The Divine Light has dawned, and darkness has been dispelled. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ raam ratan paaeaa karat beechaaraa |1| rahaau | Contemplating the Lord, I have obtained the Jewel of His Name. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਹ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਇਆਨਾ ॥ jeh anand dukh door peaanaa | Pain runs far away from that place where there is bliss. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਕੁ ਲਿਵ ਤਤੁ ਲੁਕਾਨਾ ॥੨॥ man maanak liv tat lukaanaa |2| The jewel of the mind is focused and attuned to the essence of reality. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥ jo kichh hoaa su teraa bhaanaa | Whatever happens is by the Pleasure of Your Will. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੋ ਇਵ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥ jo iv boojhai su sehaj samaanaa |3| Whoever understands this, is intuitively merged in the Lord. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ਖੀਣਾ ॥ kehat kabeer kilabikh ge kheenaa | Says Kabeer, my sins have been obliterated. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਲੀਣਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ man bheaa jagajeevan leenaa |4|1| My mind has merged into the Lord, the Life of the World. ||4||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਅਲਹੁ ਏਕੁ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਮੁਲਖੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਕੇਰਾ ॥ alahu ek maseet basat hai avar mulakh kis keraa | If the Lord Allah lives only in the mosque, then to whom does the rest of the world belong? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਦੁਹ ਮਹਿ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਹੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ hindoo moorat naam nivaasee duh meh tat na heraa |1| According to the Hindus, the Lord’s Name abides in the idol, but there is no truth in either of these claims. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਅਲਹ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਵਉ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਈ ॥ alah raam jeevau tere naaee | O Allah, O Raam, I live by Your Name. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਦਖਨ ਦੇਸਿ ਹਰੀ ਕਾ ਬਾਸਾ ਪਛਿਮਿ ਅਲਹ ਮੁਕਾਮਾ ॥ dakhan des haree kaa baasaa pachhim alah mukaamaa | The God of the Hindus lives in the southern lands, and the God of the Muslims lives in the west. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਦਿਲ ਮਹਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਦਿਲੈ ਦਿਲਿ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਏਹੀ ਠਉਰ ਮੁਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥ dil meh khoj dilai dil khojahu ehee tthaur mukaamaa |2| So search in your heart - look deep into your heart of hearts; this is the home and the place where God lives. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨ ਗਿਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਚਉਬੀਸਾ ਕਾਜੀ ਮਹ ਰਮਜਾਨਾ ॥ brahaman giaas kareh chaubeesaa kaajee meh ramajaanaa | The Brahmins observe twenty-four fasts during the year, and the Muslims fast during the month of Ramadaan. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗਿਆਰਹ ਮਾਸ ਪਾਸ ਕੈ ਰਾਖੇ ਏਕੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੩॥ giaarah maas paas kai raakhe ekai maeh nidhaanaa |3| The Muslims set aside eleven months, and claim that the treasure is only in the one month. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਾ ਉਡੀਸੇ ਮਜਨੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਨਾਂਏਂ ॥ kahaa uddeese majan keea kiaa maseet sir naanen | What is the use of bathing at Orissa? Why do the Muslims bow their heads in the mosque? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਦਿਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰੈ ਕਿਆ ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਜਾਂਏਂ ॥੪॥ dil meh kapatt nivaaj gujaarai kiaa haj kaabai jaanen |4| If someone has deception in his heart, what good is it for him to utter prayers? And what good is it for him to go on pilgrimage to Mecca? ||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਏਤੇ ਅਉਰਤ ਮਰਦਾ ਸਾਜੇ ਏ ਸਭ ਰੂਪ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੇ ॥ ete aaurat maradaa saaje e sabh roop tumaare | You fashioned all these men and women, Lord. All these are Your Forms. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਬੀਰੁ ਪੂੰਗਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਅਲਹ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ kabeer poongaraa raam alah kaa sabh gur peer hamaare |5| Kabeer is the child of God, Allah, Raam. All the Gurus and prophets are mine. ||5|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਨਰ ਨਰਵੈ ਪਰਹੁ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥ kehat kabeer sunahu nar naravai parahu ek kee saranaa | Says Kabeer, listen, O men and women: seek the Sanctuary of the One. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨਿਹਚੈ ਤਰਨਾ ॥੬॥੨॥ keval naam japahu re praanee tab hee nihachai taranaa |6|2| Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortals, and you shall surely be carried across. ||6||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ ॥ aval alah noor upaaeaa kudarat ke sabh bande | First, Allah created the Light; then, by His Creative Power, He made all mortal beings. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ॥੧॥ ek noor te sabh jag upajiaa kaun bhale ko mande |1| From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad? ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
