ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥੨॥ aap kripaa kar raakhahu har jeeo pohi na sakai jamakaal |2| O Dear Lord, the Messenger of Death cannot even touch those whom You, in Your Mercy, protect. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਚੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਾ ਓਹ ਘਟੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ teree saranaaee sachee har jeeo naa oeh ghattai na jaae | True Is Your Sanctuary, O Dear Lord; it never diminishes or goes away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗੈ ਓਹੁ ਜੰਮੈ ਤੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ jo har chhodd doojai bhaae laagai ohu jamai tai mar jaae |3| Those who abandon the Lord, and become attached to the love of duality, shall continue to die and be reborn. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ jo teree saranaaee har jeeo tinaa dookh bhookh kichh naeh | Those who seek Your Sanctuary, Dear Lord, shall never suffer in pain or hunger for anything. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੪॥ naanak naam salaeh sadaa too sachai sabad samaeh |4|4| O Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord forever, and merge in the True Word of the Shabad. ||4||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਨ ॥ guramukh har jeeo sadaa dhiaavahu jab lag jeea paraan | As Gurmukh, meditate on the Dear Lord forever, as long as there is the breath of life. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ gurasabadee man niramal hoaa chookaa man abhimaan | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the mind becomes immaculate, and egotistical pride is expelled from the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੧॥ safal janam tis praanee keraa har kai naam samaan |1| Fruitful and prosperous is the life of that mortal being, who is absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥ mere man gur kee sikh suneejai | O my mind, listen to the Teachings of the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har kaa naam sadaa sukhadaataa sahaje har ras peejai |1| rahaau | The Name of the Lord is the Giver of peace forever. With intuitive ease, drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣਨਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ mool pachhaanan tin nij ghar vaasaa sahaje hee sukh hoee | Those who understand their own origin dwell within the home of their inner being, in intuitive peace and poise. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥ gur kai sabad kamal paragaasiaa haumai duramat khoee | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the heart-lotus blossoms forth, and egotism and evil-mindedness are eradicated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥ sabhanaa meh eko sach varatai viralaa boojhai koee |2| The One True Lord is pervading amongst all; those who realize this are very rare. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਤੁ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥ guramatee man niramal hoaa amrit tat vakhaanai | Through the Guru’s Teachings, the mind becomes immaculate, speaking the Ambrosial Essence. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ har kaa naam sadaa man vasiaa vich man hee man maanai | The Name of the Lord dwells in the mind forever; within the mind, the mind is pleased and appeased. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੩॥ sad balihaaree gur apune vittahu jit aatam raam pachhaanai |3| I am forever a sacrifice to my Guru, through whom I have realized the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ maanas janam satiguroo na seviaa birathaa janam gavaaeaa | Those human beings who do not serve the True Guru - their lives are uselessly wasted. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ nadar kare taan satigur mele sahaje sehaj samaaeaa | When God bestows His Glance of Grace, then we meet the True Guru, merging in intuitive peace and poise. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥ naanak naam milai vaddiaaee poorai bhaag dhiaaeaa |4|5| O Nanak, by great good fortune, the Naam is bestowed; by perfect destiny, meditate. ||4||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪੇ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਣਾਏ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਕੀਆ ॥ aape bhaant banaae bahu rangee sisatt upaae prabh khel keea | God Himself fashioned the many forms and colors; He created the Universe and staged the play. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਨੋ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਦੀਆ ॥੧॥ kar kar vekhai kare karaae sarab jeea no rijak deea |1| Creating the creation, He watches over it. He acts, and causes all to act; He gives sustenance to all beings. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰਾਮੁ ॥ kalee kaal meh raviaa raam | In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord is All-pervading. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ghatt ghatt poor rahiaa prabh eko guramukh paragatt har har naam |1| rahaau | The One God is pervading and permeating each and every heart; the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is revealed to the Gurmukh. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥ gupataa naam varatai vich kalajug ghatt ghatt har bharapoor rahiaa | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is hidden, but it is pervasive in the Dark Age. The Lord is totally pervading and permeating each and every heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੨॥ naam ratan tinaa hiradai pragattiaa jo gur saranaaee bhaj peaa |2| The Jewel of the Naam is revealed within the hearts of those who hurry to the Sanctuary of the Guru. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਪੰਚ ਪੰਚੇ ਵਸਿ ਆਣੈ ਖਿਮਾ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ eindree panch panche vas aanai khimaa santokh guramat paavai | Whoever overpowers the five sense organs, is blessed with forgiveness, patience and contentment, through the Guru’s Teachings. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੋ ਭੈ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ so dhan dhan har jan vadd pooraa jo bhai bairaag har gun gaavai |3| Blessed, blessed, perfect and great is that humble servant of the Lord, who is inspired by the Fear of God and detached love, to sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਹੁ ਫੇਰੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਨ ਚਿਤਿ ਧਰੈ ॥ gur te muhu fere je koee gur kaa kahiaa na chit dharai | If someone turns his face away from the Guru, and does not enshrine the Guru’s Words in his consciousness - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਆਚਾਰ ਬਹੁ ਸੰਪਉ ਸੰਚੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਰੈ ॥੪॥ kar aachaar bahu sanpau sanchai jo kichh karai su narak parai |4|
- he may perform all sorts of rituals and accumulate wealth, but in the end, he will fall into hell. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਏਕਸੁ ਤੇ ਉਤਪਤਿ ਚਲੈ ॥ eko sabad eko prabh varatai sabh ekas te utapat chalai | The One Shabad, the Word of the One God, is prevailing everywhere. All the creation came from the One Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੈ ॥੫॥੬॥ naanak guramukh mel milaae guramukh har har jaae ralai |5|6| O Nanak, the Gurmukh is united in union. When the Gurmukh goes, he blends into the Lord, Har, Har. ||5||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
