ਮਹਾ ਅਭਾਗ ਅਭਾਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਨ ਪੀਜੈ ॥ mahaa abhaag abhaag hai jin ke tin saadhoo dhoor na peejai | Those who have terrible luck and bad fortune do not drink in the water which washes the dust of the feet of the Holy. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨਾ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਜਲਤ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਡੰਡੁ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੬॥ tinaa tisanaa jalat jalat nahee boojheh ddandd dharam raae kaa deejai |6| The burning fire of their desires is not extinguished; they are beaten and punished by the Righteous Judge of Dharma. ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਜਗੵ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀਏ ਹਿਵੈ ਗਾਲਿ ਗਾਲਿ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥ sabh teerath barat jagay pun kee hivai gaal gaal tan chheejai | You may visit all the sacred shrines, observe fasts and sacred feasts, give generously in charity and waste away the body, melting it in the snow. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਤੁਲਾ ਤੋਲੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕੋ ਪੁਜੈ ਨ ਤੋਲ ਤੁਲੀਜੈ ॥੭॥ atulaa tol raam naam hai guramat ko pujai na tol tuleejai |7| The weight of the Lord’s Name is unweighable, according to the Guru’s Teachings; nothing can equal its weight. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਵ ਗੁਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤੂ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ॥ tav gun braham braham too jaaneh jan naanak saran pareejai | O God, You alone know Your Glorious Virtues. Servant Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂ ਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੀਨ ਹਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਖੀਜੈ ॥੮॥੩॥ too jal nidh meen ham tere kar kirapaa sang rakheejai |8|3| You are the Ocean of water, and I am Your fish. Please be kind, and keep me always with You. ||8||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਲਿਆਨ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ kaliaan mahalaa 4 | Kalyaan, Fourth Mehl: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਾਮਾ ਰਮ ਰਾਮੋ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ raamaa ram raamo pooj kareejai | I worship and adore the Lord, the All-pervading Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਉ ਸਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਰਸੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man tan arap dhrau sabh aagai ras guramat giaan drirreejai |1| rahaau | I surrender my mind and body, and place everything before Him; following the Guru’s Teachings, spiritual wisdom is implanted within me. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਖ ਤਰੋਵਰ ਨਿਤ ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ braham naam gun saakh tarovar nit chun chun pooj kareejai | God’s Name is the tree, and His Glorious Virtues are the branches. Picking and gathering up the fruit, I worship Him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ਦੇਉ ਹੈ ਆਤਮੁ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ aatam deo deo hai aatam ras laagai pooj kareejai |1| The soul is divine; divine is the soul. Worship Him with love. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਿਚਰਿ ਬਿਚਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥ bibek budh sabh jag meh niramal bichar bichar ras peejai | One of keen intellect and precise understanding is immaculate in all this world. In thoughtful consideration, he drinks in the sublime essence. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ gur parasaad padaarath paaeaa satigur kau ihu man deejai |2| By Guru’s Grace, the treasure is found; dedicate this mind to the True Guru. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਅਤਿ ਹੀਰੋ ਨੀਕੋ ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰੁ ਬਿਧੀਜੈ ॥ niramolak at heero neeko heerai heer bidheejai | Priceless and utterly sublime is the Diamond of the Lord. This Diamond pierces the diamond of the mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਮੋਤੀ ਸਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹੀਰਾ ਪਰਖਿ ਲਈਜੈ ॥੩॥ man motee saal hai gurasabadee jit heeraa parakh leejai |3| The mind becomes the jeweller, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; it appraises the Diamond of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗਿ ਊਚੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਪ ਪਲਾਸ ਖਾਇ ਲੀਜੈ ॥ sangat sant sang lag aooche jiau peep palaas khaae leejai | Attaching oneself to the Society of the Saints, one is exalted and uplifted, as the palaas tree is absorbed by the peepal tree. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭ ਨਰ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਊਤਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸੀਜੈ ॥੪॥ sabh nar meh praanee aootam hovai raam naamai baas baseejai |4| That mortal being is supreme among all people, who is perfumed by the fragrance of the Lord’s Name. ||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਨੇ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਖਾ ਹਰੀ ਜੜੀਜੈ ॥ niramal niramal karam bahu keene nit saakhaa haree jarreejai | One who continually acts in goodness and immaculate purity, sprouts green branches in great abundance. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧਰਮੁ ਫੁਲੁ ਫਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਹਕਾਰ ਬਾਸੁ ਜਗਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੫॥ dharam ful fal gur giaan drirraaeaa bahakaar baas jag deejai |5| The Guru has taught me that Dharmic faith is the flower, and spiritual wisdom is the fruit; this fragrance permeates the world. ||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ ek jot eko man vasiaa sabh braham drisatt ik keejai | The One, the Light of the One, abides within my mind; God, the One, is seen in all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਭ ਏਕੈ ਹੈ ਪਸਰੇ ਸਭ ਚਰਨ ਤਲੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੬॥ aatam raam sabh ekai hai pasare sabh charan tale sir deejai |6| The One Lord, the Supreme Soul, is spread out everywhere; all place their heads beneath His Feet. ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਕਟੇ ਨਰ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਤਿਨ ਘਸਿ ਘਸਿ ਨਾਕ ਵਢੀਜੈ ॥ naam binaa nakatte nar dekhahu tin ghas ghas naak vadteejai | Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, people look like criminals with their noses cut off; bit by bit, their noses are cut off. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੀਜੈ ॥੭॥ saakat nar ahankaaree kaheeeh bin naavai dhrig jeeveejai |7| The faithless cynics are called egotistical; without the Name, their lives are cursed. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੇਗਲ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ॥ jab lag saas saas man antar tat begal saran pareejai | As long as the breath breathes through the mind deep within, hurry and seek God’s Sanctuary. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਮੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਨ ਪਖੀਜੈ ॥੮॥੪॥ naanak kripaa kripaa kar dhaarahu mai saadhoo charan pakheejai |8|4| Please shower Your Kind Mercy and take pity upon Nanak, that he may wash the feet of the Holy. ||8||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਹੋਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kilabikh dehan hohi khin antar mere tthaakur kirapaa keejai |1| rahaau | May my sins be burnt away in an instant; O my Lord and Master, please bless me with Your Mercy. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਦੀਨ ਖਰੇ ਦਰਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਅਤਿ ਤਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥ mangat jan deen khare dar tthaadte at tarasan kau daan deejai | The meek and humble beggars stand begging at Your Door. Please be generous and give to those who are yearning. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਏ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ traeh traeh saran prabh aae mo kau guramat naam drirreejai |1| Save me, save me, O God - I have come to Your Sanctuary. Please implant the Guru’s Teachings, and the Naam within me. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਲਾ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਉਠਿ ਜੂਝੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ kaam karodh nagar meh sabalaa nit utth utth joojh kareejai | Sexual desire and anger are very powerful in the body-village; I rise up to fight the battle against them. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਢੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ angeekaar karahu rakh levahu gur pooraa kaadt kadteejai |2| Please make me Your Own and save me; through the Perfect Guru, I drive them out. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਬਲ ਅਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਹਿਵ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਜੈ ॥ antar agan sabal at bikhiaa hiv seetal sabad gur deejai | The powerful fire of corruption is raging violently within; the Word of the Guru’s Shabad is the ice water which cools and soothes. - Guru Ramdas Ji
