ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥ prabh meraa antarajaamee jaan | My God is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of Hearts. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kar kirapaa pooran paramesar nihachal sach sabad neesaan |1| rahaau | Take pity on me, O Perfect Transcendent Lord; bless me with the True Eternal Insignia of the Shabad, the Word of God. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਨ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਾਣੁ ॥ har bin aan na koee samarath teree aas teraa man taan | O Lord, other than You, no one is all-powerful. You are the Hope and the Strength of my mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਪਹਿਰਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ sarab ghattaa ke daate suaamee dehi su pahiran khaan |1| You are the Giver to the hearts of all beings, O Lord and Master. I eat and wear whatever You give me. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਲਿਆਣੁ ॥੨॥੬॥੯॥ sarab sookh aanand naanak jap raam naam kaliaan |2|6|9| all comforts, bliss, happiness and salvation, O Nanak, come by chanting the Lord’s Name. ||2||6||9|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਖਾਵਨੋ ॥੧॥ saadhasang jap nisang jamakaal tis na khaavano |1| Whoever chants and meditates in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, shall undoubtedly escape being consumed by the Messenger of Death. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੂਖ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਵਨੋ ॥ mukat jugat anik sookh har bhagat lavai na laavano | Liberation, the key to success, and all sorts of comforts do not equal loving devotional worship of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸ ਲੁਬਧ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਧਾਵਨੋ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੦॥ prabh daras lubadh daas naanak bahurr jon na dhaavano |2|7|10| Slave Nanak longs for the Blessed Vision of God’s Darshan; he shall never again wander in reincarnation. ||2||||7||10|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har har naam amrit ras meetthaa guramat sahaje peejai |1| rahaau | The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is Ambrosial Nectar, the most Sweet and Sublime Essence; through the Guru’s Teachings, drink it in with intuitive ease. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾਸਟ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਹੈ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਮਥਿ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਢੀਜੈ ॥ kaasatt meh jiau hai baisantar math sanjam kaadt kadteejai | The potential energy of fire is within the wood; it is released if you know how to rub it and generate friction. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਤਤੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਈਜੈ ॥੧॥ raam naam hai jot sabaaee tat guramat kaadt leejai |1| In just the same way, the Lord’s Name is the Light within all; the Essence is extracted by following the Guru’s Teachings. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਉ ਦਰਵਾਜ ਨਵੇ ਦਰ ਫੀਕੇ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦਸਵੇ ਚੁਈਜੈ ॥ nau daravaaj nave dar feeke ras amrit dasave chueejai | There are nine doors, but the taste of these nine doors is bland and insipid. The Essence of Ambrosial Nectar trickles down through the Tenth Door. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ kripaa kripaa kirapaa kar piaare gurasabadee har ras peejai |2| Please take pity on me - be kind and compassionate, O my Beloved, that I may drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੁ ਨਗਰੁ ਹੈ ਨੀਕੋ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਉਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ kaaeaa nagar nagar hai neeko vich saudaa har ras keejai | The body-village is the most sublime and exalted village, in which the merchandise of the Lord’s Sublime Essence is traded. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਤਨ ਲਾਲ ਅਮੋਲ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੩॥ ratan laal amol amolak satigur sevaa leejai |3| The most precious and priceless gems and jewels are obtained by serving the True Guru. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਭਰਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ satigur agam agam hai tthaakur bhar saagar bhagat kareejai | The True Guru is Inaccessible; Inaccessible is our Lord and Master. He is the overflowing Ocean of bliss - worship Him with loving devotion. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਮ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥ kripaa kripaa kar deen ham saaring ik boond naam mukh deejai |4| Please take pity on me, and be Merciful to this meek song-bird; please pour a drop of Your Name into my mouth. ||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਲਾਲਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਰੰਗਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਨ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਜੈ ॥ laalan laal laal hai rangan man rangan kau gur deejai | O Beloved Lord, please color my mind with the Deep Crimson Color of Your Love; I have surrendered my mind to the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਸ ਰਸਿਕ ਗਟਕ ਨਿਤ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੫॥ raam raam raam rang raate ras rasik gattak nit peejai |5| Those who are imbued with the Love of the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam, continually drink in this essence in big gulps, savoring its sweet taste. ||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਸੁਧਾ ਸਪਤ ਦੀਪ ਹੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਕਢਿ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ basudhaa sapat deep hai saagar kadt kanchan kaadt dhareejai | If all the gold of the seven continents and the oceans was taken out and placed before them, - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਇਨਹੁ ਨ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੬॥ mere tthaakur ke jan inahu na baachheh har maageh har ras deejai |6| the humble servants of my Lord and Master would not even want it. They beg for the Lord to bless them with the Lord’s Sublime Essence. ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਸਦ ਭੂਖੇ ਨਿਤ ਭੂਖਨ ਭੂਖ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ saakat nar praanee sad bhookhe nit bhookhan bhookh kareejai | The faithless cynics and mortal beings remain hungry forever; they continually cry out in hunger. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧਾਵਤੁ ਧਾਇ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਖ ਕੋਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਥਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੭॥ dhaavat dhaae dhaaveh preet maaeaa lakh kosan kau bith deejai |7| They hurry and run, and wander all around, caught in the love of Maya; they cover hundreds of thousands of miles in their wanderings. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
