ਕਾਨੜਾ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ kaanarraa chhant mahalaa 5 | Kaanraa, Chhant, Fifth Mehl: - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ se udhare jin raam dhiaae | They alone are saved, who meditate on the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਤਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥ jatan maaeaa ke kaam na aae | Working for Maya is useless. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਤੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਆ ॥ raam dhiaae sabh fal paae dhan dhan te baddabhaageea | Meditating on the Lord, all fruits and rewards are obtained. They are blessed, blessed and very fortunate. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀਆ ॥ satasang jaage naam laage ek siau liv laageea | They are awake and aware in the True Congregation; attached to the Naam, they are lovingly attuned to the One. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਏ ॥ taj maan moh bikaar saadhoo lag trau tin kai paae | I have renounced pride, emotional attachment, wickedness and corruption; attached to the Holy, I am carried across at their feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਡਭਾਗਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ binavant naanak saran suaamee baddabhaag darasan paae |1| Prays Nanak, I have come to the Sanctuary of my Lord and Master; by great good fortune, I obtain the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਨਿਤ ਭਜਹ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥ mil saadhoo nit bhajah naaraaein | The Holy meet together, and continually vibrate and meditate on the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥ rasak rasak suaamee gun gaaein | With love and excitement, they sing the Glorious Praises of their Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਜੀਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਪੀਵਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣਾ ਭਾਗਏ ॥ gun gaae jeevah har amiau peevah janam maranaa bhaage | Singing His Praises they live, drinking in the Lord’s Nectar; the cycle of birth and death is over for them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗਏ ॥ satasang paaeeai har dhiaaeeai bahurr dookh na laage | Finding the True Congregation and meditating on the Lord, one is never again afflicted with pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਦਾਤੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਇਣ ॥ kar deaa daate purakh bidhaate sant sev kamaaein | By the Grace of the Great Giver, the Architect of Destiny, we work to serve the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਬਾਂਛਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਣ ॥੨॥ binavant naanak jan dhoor baanchheh har daras sehaj samaaein |2| Prays Nanak, I long for the dust of the feet of the humble; I am intuitively absorbed in the Blessed Vision of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਤ ਭਜਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲੈ ॥ sagale jant bhajahu gopaalai | All beings vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the World. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲੈ ॥ jap tap sanjam pooran ghaalai | This brings the merits of chanting and meditation, austere self-discipline and perfect service. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਤ ਭਜਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥ nit bhajahu suaamee antarajaamee safal janam sabaaeaa | Vibrating and meditating continuously on our Lord and Master, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, one’s life becomes totally fruitful. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਇਆ ॥ gobid gaaeeai nit dhiaaeeai paravaan soee aaeaa | Those who sing and meditate continually on the Lord of the Universe - their coming into the world is blessed and approved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥ jap taap sanjam har har niranjan gobind dhan sang chaalai | The Immaculate Lord, Har, Har, is meditation and chanting, and austere self-discipline; only the Wealth of the Lord of the Universe shall go along with you in the end. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਦੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਾਧਉ ਪਾਲੈ ॥੩॥ binavant naanak kar deaa deejai har ratan baadhau paalai |3| Prays Nanak, please grant Your Grace, O Lord, and bless me with the Jewel, that I may carry it in my pocket. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰ ਚੋਜ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥ mangalachaar choj aanandaa | His Wondrous and Amazing Plays are blissful - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥ kar kirapaa mile paramaanandaa | granting His Grace, He bestows supreme ecstasy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹਗਾਮੀ ਇਛ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥ prabh mile suaamee sukhahagaamee ichh man kee puneea | God, my Lord and Master, the Bringer of peace, has met me, and the desires of my mind are fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਜੀ ਬਧਾਈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਮਾਈ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖਿ ਨ ਰੁੰਨੀਆ ॥ bajee badhaaee sahaje samaaee bahurr dookh na runeea | Congratulations pour in; I am intuitively absorbed in the Lord. I shall never again cry out in pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲੇ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਏ ਸੁਖ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮੰਦਾ ॥ le kantth laae sukh dikhaae bikaar binase mandaa | He hugs me close in His Embrace, and blesses me with peace; the evil of sin and corruption is gone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ binavant naanak mile suaamee purakh paramaanandaa |4|1| Prays Nanak, I have met my Lord and Master, the Primal Lord, the Embodiment of Bliss. ||4||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ daasan daasaa hoe rahu haumai bikhiaa maar | Become the slave of the Lord’s slaves, and conquer egotism and corruption. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥ janam padaarath jeetiaa kade na aavai haar | You shall win this treasure of life; you shall never lose. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ dhan dhan vaddabhaagee naanakaa jin guramat har ras saar |1| Blessed, blessed and very fortunate are those, O Nanak, who savor the Sublime Essence of the Lord through the Guru’s Teachings. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਤਾਂ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ govid govid guramat dhiaaeeai taan daragah paaeeai maan | Meditating on Govind, Govind, the Lord of the Universe, through the Guru’s Teachings, you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
