ਦੀਨ ਲੀਨ ਪਿਆਸ ਮੀਨ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨਾ ॥ deen leen piaas meen santanaa har santanaa | The meek and humble Saints are like thirsty fish; the Saints of the Lord are absorbed in Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ॥ har santanaa kee ren | I am the dust of the feet of the Lord’s Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹੀਉ ਅਰਪਿ ਦੇਨ ॥ heeo arap den | I dedicate my heart to them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਕਿਰਪੇਨ ॥ prabh bhe hai kirapen | God has become Merciful to me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਛੋਡਿਓ ਤਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਭੇਟਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੫॥ maan mohu tiaag chhoddio tau naanak har jeeo bhettanaa |2|2|35| Renouncing pride and leaving behind emotional attachment, O Nanak, one meets with the Dear Lord. ||2||2||35|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਹਿਤ ਗੰਗਾ ॥ barat nem teerath sahit gangaa | Some go on fasts, make vows, and take pilgrimages to sacred shrines on the Ganges. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲੁ ਹੇਵਤ ਭੂਖ ਅਰੁ ਨੰਗਾ ॥ jal hevat bhookh ar nangaa | They stand naked in the water, enduring hunger and poverty. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਜਾਚਾਰ ਕਰਤ ਮੇਲੰਗਾ ॥ poojaachaar karat melangaa | They sit cross-legged, perform worship services and do good deeds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਕ੍ਰ ਕਰਮ ਤਿਲਕ ਖਾਟੰਗਾ ॥ chakr karam tilak khaattangaa | They apply religious symbols to their bodies, and ceremonial marks to their limbs. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ darasan bhette bin satasangaa |1| They read through the Shaastras, but they do not join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਰਹਤ ਬਿਟੰਗਾ ॥ hatth nigreh at rehat bittangaa | They stubbornly practice ritualistic postures, standing on their heads. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਚੁਕੈ ਨ ਭੰਗਾ ॥ hau rog biaapai chukai na bhangaa | They are afflicted with the disease of egotism, and their faults are not covered up. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜਰੰਗਾ ॥ kaam krodh at trisan jarangaa | They burn in the fire of sexual frustration, unresolved anger and compulsive desire. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਚੰਗਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੩੬॥ so mukat naanak jis satigur changaa |2|3|36| He alone is liberated, O Nanak, whose True Guru is Good. ||2||3||36|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤਿਖ ਬੂਝਿ ਗਈ ਗਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ॥ tikh boojh gee gee mil saadh janaa | My thirst has been quenched, meeting with the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੰਚ ਭਾਗੇ ਚੋਰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖੈਨੋ ਹਰੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤੀ ਗਾਵਤੀ ਗਾਵਤੀ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ panch bhaage chor sahaje sukhaino hare gun gaavatee gaavatee gaavatee daras piaar |1| rahaau | The five thieves have run away, and I am in peace and poise; singing, singing, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I obtain the Blessed Vision of my Beloved. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਅਨਿਕ ਦਾਸ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥ anik daas keerat kareh tuhaaree | Countless slaves sing Your Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜੋ ਭਾਵਤੋ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ soee milio jo bhaavato jan naanak tthaakur rahio samaae | He alone meets You, who is pleasing to Your Will. Servant Nanak remains absorbed in his Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਾਇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੋਹਨਾ ॥ hiradai gobind gaae charan kamal preet laae deen deaal mohanaa | Within your heart, sing the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and be lovingly attuned to His Lotus Feet. He is the Fascinating Lord, Merciful to the meek and the humble. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ kripaal deaa meaa dhaar | O Merciful Lord, please bless me with Your Kindness and Compassion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
