ਸਾਧ ਸਰਨਿ ਚਰਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ saadh saran charan chit laaeaa | In the Sanctuary of the Holy, I focus my consciousness on the Lord’s Feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਪਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ਪੇਖੀ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ supan kee baat sunee pekhee supanaa naam mantru satiguroo drirraaeaa |1| rahaau | When I was dreaming, I heard and saw only dream-objects. ਨਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੋ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਧਾਇਆ ॥ neh tripataano raaj joban dhan bahur bahur fir dhaaeaa | Power, youth and wealth do not bring satisfaction; people chase after them again and again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ sukh paaeaa trisanaa sabh bujhee hai saant paaee gun gaaeaa |1| I have found peace and tranquility, and all my thirsty desires have been quenched, singing His Glorious Praises. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਪਸੂ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਓ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ bin boojhe pasoo kee niaaee bhram mohi biaapio maaeaa | Without understanding, they are like beasts, engrossed in doubt, emotional attachment and Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਮ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਕਾਟੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੧੦॥ saadhasang jam jevaree kaattee naanak sehaj samaaeaa |2|10| But in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the noose of Death is cut, O Nanak, and one intuitively merges in celestial peace. ||2||10|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੀਤਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ seetalaa sukh saant moorat simar simar nit dhiaae |1| rahaau | Meditate, meditate in constant remembrance on God, the Embodiment of soothing peace and cooling tranquility. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਆਸ ਹੋਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ sagal aas hot pooran kott janam dukh jaae |1| All your hopes shall be fulfilled, and the pain of millions of deaths and births shall be gone. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ pun daan anek kiriaa saadhoo sang samaae | Immerse yourself in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and you shall obtain the benefits of giving charitable gifts, and all sorts of good deeds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਮਿਟੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥੧੧॥ taap santaap mitte naanak baahurr kaal na khaae |2|11| Sorrow and suffering shall be erased, O Nanak, and you shall never again be devoured by death. ||2||11|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹੋਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ patit puneet hohi khin bheetar paarabraham kai rang |1| Sinners are sanctified in an instant, in the love of the Supreme Lord God. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਥੈ ਸੁਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਸ ॥ jo jo kathai sunai har keeratan taa kee duramat naas | Whoever speaks and listens to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises is rid of evil-mindedness. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਹਰੈ ॥੧॥ janam janam ke kilabikh harai |1| the sins of countless incarnations are washed away. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਊਚੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥ sant janaa kee aoochee baanee | The words of the humble Saints are lofty and exalted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩॥ simar simar tare naanak praanee |2|2|13| Meditating, meditating in remembrance, O Nanak, mortal beings are carried across and saved. ||2||2||13|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਾਨ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ maan tan dhan praan prabh ke simarat dukh jaae |1| rahaau | Mind, body, wealth and the breath of life - all come from God; remembering Him in meditation, pain is taken away. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਕਹਾ ਲੋੁਭਾਵਹਿ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ eet aoot kahaa luobhaaveh ek siau man laae |1| Why are you entangled in this and that? Let your mind be attuned to the One. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤ ਆਸਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨॥ mahaa pavitr sant aasan mil sang gobid dhiaae |2| The place of the Saints is utterly sacred; meet with them, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥੩॥੧੪॥ sagal tiaag saran aaeo naanak lehu milaae |3|3|14| O Nanak, I have abandoned everything and come to Your Sanctuary. Please let me merge with You. ||3||3||14|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
