ਨਾਗਰ ਜਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆਤ ਚੰਮਾਰੰ ॥ naagar janaan meree jaat bikhiaat chamaaran | O humble townspeople, I am obviously just a shoemaker. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਰਿਦੈ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ridai raam gobind gun saaran |1| rahaau | In my heart I cherish the Glories of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਸਲਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਰੁਨੀ ਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਨੰ ॥ surasaree salal krit baarunee re sant jan karat nahee paanan | Even if wine is made from the water of the Ganges, O Saints, do not drink it. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸੁਰਾ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਤ ਅਵਰ ਜਲ ਰੇ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਆਨੰ ॥੧॥ suraa apavitr nat avar jal re surasaree milat neh hoe aanan |1| This wine, and any other polluted water which mixes with the Ganges, is not separate from it. ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਤਰ ਤਾਰਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਰੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਰਾ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੰ ॥ tar taar apavitr kar maaneeai re jaise kaagaraa karat beechaaran | The palmyra palm tree is considered impure, and so its leaves are considered impure as well. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਗਉਤੁ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰੇ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੰ ॥੨॥ bhagat bhaagaut likheeai tih aoopare poojeeai kar namasakaaran |2| But if devotional prayers are written on paper made from its leaves, then people bow in reverence and worship before it. ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਟ ਬਾਂਢਲਾ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤਾ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥ meree jaat kutt baandtalaa dtor dtovantaa niteh baanaarasee aas paasaa | It is my occupation to prepare and cut leather; each day, I carry the carcasses out of the city. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਅਬ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤਿਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੧॥ ab bipr paradhaan tihi kareh ddanddaut tere naam saranaae ravidaas daasaa |3|1| Now, the important Brahmins of the city bow down before me; Ravi Daas, Your slave, seeks the Sanctuary of Your Name. ||3||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਤੇਊ ਜਨਾ ਪਦਮ ਕਵਲਾਸ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਸ ਸਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਨ ਕੋਊ ॥ har japat teaoo janaa padam kavalaas pat taas sam tul nahee aan koaoo | Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord’s Lotus Feet - none are equal to them. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਏਕ ਹੀ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਸਥਰਿਓ ਆਨ ਰੇ ਆਨ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸੋਊ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ek hee ek anek hoe bisathario aan re aan bharapoor soaoo | rahaau | The Lord is One, but He is diffused in many forms. Bring in, bring in, that All-pervading Lord. ||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਾਗਵਤੁ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਤਾਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਆਛੋਪ ਛੀਪਾ ॥ jaa kai bhaagavat lekheeai avar nahee pekheeai taas kee jaat aachhop chheepaa | He who writes the Praises of the Lord God, and sees nothing else at all, is a low-class, untouchable fabric-dyer by trade. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਬਿਆਸ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਸਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਨਾਮਨਾ ਸਪਤ ਦੀਪਾ ॥੧॥ biaas meh lekheeai sanak meh pekheeai naam kee naamanaa sapat deepaa |1| The Glory of the Name is seen in the writings of Vyaas and Sanak, throughout the seven continents. ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਈਦਿ ਬਕਰੀਦਿ ਕੁਲ ਗਊ ਰੇ ਬਧੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਅਹਿ ਸੇਖ ਸਹੀਦ ਪੀਰਾ ॥ jaa kai eed bakareed kul gaoo re badh kareh maaneeeh sekh saheed peeraa | And he whose family used to kill cows at the festivals of Eed and Bakareed, who worshipped Shayks, martyrs and spiritual teachers, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਬਾਪ ਵੈਸੀ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਤ ਐਸੀ ਸਰੀ ਤਿਹੂ ਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਸਿਧ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੨॥ jaa kai baap vaisee karee poot aisee saree tihoo re lok parasidh kabeeraa |2| whose father used to do such things - his son Kabeer became so successful that he is now famous throughout the three worlds. ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੇ ਢੇਢ ਸਭ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਹੁ ਬੰਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥ jaa ke kuttanb ke dtedt sabh dtor dtovant fireh ajahu banaarasee aas paasaa | And all the leather-workers in those families still go around Benares removing the dead cattle - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਆਚਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਤਨੈ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਾਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੨॥ aachaar sahit bipr kareh ddanddaut tin tanai ravidaas daasaan daasaa |3|2|
- the ritualistic Brahmins bow in reverence before their son Ravi Daas, the slave of the Lord’s slaves. ||3||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saadhasangat paaee param gate | rahaau | In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have obtained the supreme status. ||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਮੈਲੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਧੋਵਉ ॥ maile kapare kahaa lau dhovau | How long shall I wash these dirty clothes? - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਆਵੈਗੀ ਨੀਦ ਕਹਾ ਲਗੁ ਸੋਵਉ ॥੧॥ aavaigee need kahaa lag sovau |1| How long shall I remain asleep? ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਜੋਰਿਓ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਫਾਟਿਓ ॥ joee joee jorio soee soee faattio | Whatever I was attached to, has perished. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਝੂਠੈ ਬਨਜਿ ਉਠਿ ਹੀ ਗਈ ਹਾਟਿਓ ॥੨॥ jhootthai banaj utth hee gee haattio |2| The shop of false merchandise has closed down. ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
