ਸਾਵਣੁ ਆਇਆ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਕੰਤੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥ saavan aaeaa he sakhee kantai chit karehu | The month of Saawan has come, O my companions; think of your Husband Lord. - Guru Angad Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਝੂਰਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਅਵਰੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥੧॥ naanak jhoor mareh dohaaganee jina avaree laagaa nehu |1| O Nanak, the discarded bride is in love with another; now she weeps and wails, and dies. ||1|| - Guru Angad Dev Ji

ਸਾਵਣੁ ਆਇਆ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਜਲਹਰੁ ਬਰਸਨਹਾਰੁ ॥ saavan aaeaa he sakhee jalahar barasanahaar | The month of Saawan has come, O my companions; the clouds have burst forth with rain. - Guru Angad Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਵਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਸਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੨॥ naanak sukh savan sohaaganee jina seh naal piaar |2| O Nanak, the blessed soul-brides sleep in peace; they are in love with their Husband Lord. ||2|| - Guru Angad Dev Ji

ਆਪੇ ਛਿੰਝ ਪਵਾਇ ਮਲਾਖਾੜਾ ਰਚਿਆ ॥ aape chhinjh pavaae malaakhaarraa rachiaa | He Himself has staged the tournament, and arranged the arena for the wrestlers. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਲਥੇ ਭੜਥੂ ਪਾਇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਚਿਆ ॥ lathe bharrathoo paae guramukh machiaa | They have entered the arena with pomp and ceremony; the Gurmukhs are joyful. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਰੇ ਪਛਾੜਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਚਿਆ ॥ manamukh maare pachhaarr moorakh kachiaa | The false and foolish self-willed manmukhs are defeated and overcome. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਪਿ ਭਿੜੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਰਚਿਆ ॥ aap bhirrai maare aap aap kaaraj rachiaa | The Lord Himself wrestles, and He Himself defeats them. He Himself staged this play. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਭਨਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥ sabhanaa khasam ek hai guramukh jaaneeai | The One God is the Lord and Master of all; this is known by the Gurmukhs. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਲਿਖੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਲਮ ਮਸਵਾਣੀਐ ॥ hukamee likhai sir lekh vin kalam masavaaneeai | He writes the inscription of His Hukam on the foreheads of all, without pen or ink. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਪੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥ satasangat melaap jithai har gun sadaa vakhaaneeai | In the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, Union with Him is obtained; there, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are chanted forever. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ॥੪॥ naanak sachaa sabad salaeh sach pachhaaneeai |4| O Nanak, praising the True Word of His Shabad, one comes to realize the Truth. ||4|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਹ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਵ ਰਹਸੀ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ kiaa jaanaa tis saah siau kev rahasee rang | How do I know whether my love for my Husband Lord shall endure? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰੰਗੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਮਨਿ ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ rang rahiaa tina kaamanee jina man bhau bhaau hoe | The love of those soul-brides endures, if their minds are filled with the Love and the Fear of God. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ naanak bhai bhaae baaharee tin tan sukh na hoe |1| O Nanak, she who has no Love and Fear of God - her body shall never find peace. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਊਂਨਵਿ ਊਂਨਵਿ ਆਇਆ ਵਰਸੈ ਨੀਰੁ ਨਿਪੰਗੁ ॥ aoonav aoonav aaeaa varasai neer nipang | Hanging low, low and thick in the sky, the clouds come, and pure water rains down. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਕੰਤੈ ਸਿਉ ਮਨਿ ਭੰਗੁ ॥੨॥ naanak dukh laagaa tina kaamanee jina kantai siau man bhang |2| O Nanak, that soul-bride suffers in pain, whose mind is torn away from her Husband Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਦੋਵੈ ਤਰਫਾ ਉਪਾਇ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਿਆ ॥ dovai tarafaa upaae ik varatiaa | The One Lord created both sides and pervades the expanse. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬੇਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਰਤਾਇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾਦੁ ਘਤਿਆ ॥ bed baanee varataae andar vaad ghatiaa | The words of the Vedas became pervasive, with arguments and divisions. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਨਿਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਹਾਠਾ ਦੋਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਰੈਬਾਰਿਆ ॥ paravirat niravirat haatthaa dovai vich dharam firai raibaariaa | Attachment and detachment are the two sides of it; Dharma, true religion, is the guide between the two. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਚੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ manamukh kache koorriaar tinaee nihchau daragah haariaa | The self-willed manmukhs are worthless and false. Without a doubt, they lose in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੂਰ ਹੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ guramatee sabad soor hai kaam krodh jinaee maariaa | Those who follow the Guru’s Teachings are the true spiritual warriors; they have conquered sexual desire and anger. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ sachai andar mehal sabad savaariaa | They enter into the True Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, embellished and exalted by the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥ se bhagat tudh bhaavade sachai naae piaariaa | Those devotees are pleasing to Your Will, O Lord; they dearly love the True Name. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੫॥ satigur sevan aapanaa tinaa vittahu hau vaariaa |5| I am a sacrifice to those who serve their True Guru. ||5|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਕੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਲੀ ॥੧॥ naanak bhaanai chalai kant kai su maane sadaa ralee |1| O Nanak, she walks in harmony with the Will of her Husband Lord; she enjoys peace and pleasure forever. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਆ ਉਠਿ ਉਠਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਬਪੁੜੇਂ ਇਸੁ ਮੇਘੈ ਹਥਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ kiaa utth utth dekhahu bapurren is meghai hath kichh naeh | Why are you standing up, standing up to look? You poor wretch, this cloud has nothing in its hands. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹੁ ਮੇਘੁ ਪਠਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਂਹਿ ॥ jin ehu megh patthaaeaa tis raakhahu man maanhi | The One who sent this cloud - cherish Him in your mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਸੀ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ tis no man vasaaeisee jaa kau nadar karee | He alone enshrines the Lord in his mind, upon whom the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਸਭ ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਹ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥ naanak nadaree baaharee sabh karan palaah karee |2| O Nanak, all those who lack this Grace, cry and weep and wail. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਰੇਵੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਵਾਰ ॥ so har sadaa sareveeai jis karat na laagai vaar | Serve the Lord forever; He acts in no time at all. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਡਾਣੇ ਆਕਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥ aaddaane aakaas kar khin meh dtaeh usaaranahaar | He stretched the sky across the heavens; in an instant, He creates and destroys. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥ aape jagat upaae kai kudarat kare veechaar | He Himself created the world; He contemplates His Creative Omnipotence. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਾਰ ॥ manamukh agai lekhaa mangeeai bahutee hovai maar | The self-willed manmukh will be called to account hereafter; he will be severely punished. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
