ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ karam hovai taa satigur paaeeai vin karamai paaeaa na jaae | If it is in his karma, then he finds the True Guru; without such karma, He cannot be found. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ satigur miliai kanchan hoeeai jaan har kee hoe rajaae |1| He meets the True Guru, and he is transformed into gold, if it is the Lord’s Will. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ man mere har har naam chit laae | O my mind, focus your consciousness on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ satigur te har paaeeai saachaa har siau rahai samaae |1| rahaau | The Lord is found through the True Guru, and then he remains merged with the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ satigur te giaan aoopajai taan ih sansaa jaae | Spiritual wisdom wells up through the True Guru, and then this cynicism is dispelled. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਨਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ satigur te har bujheeai garabh jonee neh paae |2| Through the True Guru, the Lord is realized, and then, he is not consigned to the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ gur parasaadee jeevat marai mar jeevai sabad kamaae | By Guru’s Grace, the mortal dies in life, and by so dying, lives to practice the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਏ ਜਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੩॥ mukat duaaraa soee paae ji vichahu aap gavaae |3| He alone finds the Door of Salvation, who eradicates self-conceit from within himself. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ gur parasaadee siv ghar jamai vichahu sakat gavaae | By Guru’s Grace, the mortal is reincarnated into the Home of the Lord, having eradicated Maya from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ achar charai bibek budh paae purakhai purakh milaae |4| He eats the uneatable, and is blessed with a discriminating intellect; he meets the Supreme Person, the Primal Lord God. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਧਾਤੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ dhaatur baajee sansaar achet hai chalai mool gavaae | The world is unconscious, like a passing show; the mortal departs, having lost his capital. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥ laahaa har satasangat paaeeai karamee palai paae |5| The profit of the Lord is obtained in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; by good karma, it is found. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ satigur vin kinai na paaeaa man vekhahu ridai beechaar | Without the True Guru, no one finds it; see this in your mind, and consider this in your heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੬॥ vaddabhaagee gur paaeaa bhavajal utare paar |6| By great good fortune, the mortal finds the Guru, and crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ har naamaan har ttek hai har har naam adhaar | The Name of the Lord is my Anchor and Support. I take only the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਵਉ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੭॥ kripaa karahu gur melahu har jeeo paavau mokh duaar |7| O Dear Lord, please be kind and lead me to meet the Guru, that I may find the Door of Salvation. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ masatak lilaatt likhiaa dhur tthaakur mettanaa na jaae | The pre-ordained destiny inscribed on the mortal’s forehead by our Lord and Master cannot be erased. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇ ॥੮॥੧॥ naanak se jan pooran hoe jin har bhaanaa bhaae |8|1| O Nanak, those humble beings are perfect, who are pleased by the Lord’s Will. ||8||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬੇਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਗੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ bed baanee jag varatadaa trai gun kare beechaar | The world is involved with the words of the Vedas, thinking about the three gunas - the three dispositions. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਸਹੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥ bin naavai jam ddandd sahai mar janamai vaaro vaar | Without the Name, it suffers punishment by the Messenger of Death; it comes and goes in reincarnation, over and over again. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ satigur bhette mukat hoe paae mokh duaar |1| Meeting with the True Guru, the world is liberated, and finds the Door of Salvation. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ man re satigur sev samaae | O mortal, immerse yourself in service to the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ vaddai bhaag gur pooraa paaeaa har har naam dhiaae |1| rahaau | By great good fortune, the mortal finds the Perfect Guru, and meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ har aapanai bhaanai srisatt upaaee har aape dee adhaar | The Lord, by the Pleasure of His Own Will, created the Universe, and the Lord Himself gives it sustenance and support. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ har aapanai bhaanai man niramal keea har siau laagaa piaar | The Lord, by His Own Will, makes the mortal’s mind immaculate, and lovingly attunes him to the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ har kai bhaanai satigur bhettiaa sabh janam savaaranahaar |2| The Lord, by His Own Will, leads the mortal to meet the True Guru, the Embellisher of all his lives. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu baanee sat hai guramukh boojhai koe | Waaho! Waaho! Blessed and Great is the True Word of His Bani. Only a few, as Gurmukh, understand. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu kar prabh saalaaheeai tis jevadd avar na koe | Waaho! Waaho! Praise God as Great! No one else is as Great as He. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ aape bakhase mel le karam paraapat hoe |3| When God’s Grace is received, He Himself forgives the mortal, and unites him with Himself. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥ saachaa saahib maaharo satigur deea dikhaae | The True Guru has revealed our True, Supreme Lord and Master. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ amrit varasai man santokheeai sach rahai liv laae | The Ambrosial Nectar rains down and the mind is satisfied, remaining lovingly attuned to the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੁਕੈ ਨਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ har kai naae sadaa hareeaavalee fir sukai naa kumalaae |4| In the Lord’s Name, it is forever rejuvenated; it shall never wither and dry up again. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
