ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mahalaa 3 | Salok, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਮਰੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਨ ਹੁਜਤਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ amar veparavaahu hai tis naal siaanap na chalee na hujat karanee jaae | The Order of the Lord is beyond challenge. Clever tricks and arguments will not work against it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਏ ਰਜਾਇ ॥ aap chhodd saranaae pavai man le rajaae | So abandon your self-conceit, and take to His Sanctuary; accept the Order of His Will. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ guramukh jam ddandd na lagee haumai vichahu jaae | The Gurmukh eliminates self-conceit from within himself; he shall not be punished by the Messenger of Death. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ naanak sevak soee aakheeai ji sach rahai liv laae |1| O Nanak, he alone is called a selfless servant, who remains lovingly attuned to the True Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਦਾਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਭ ਸੂਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ daat jot sabh soorat teree | All gifts, light and beauty are Yours. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰੀ ॥ bahut siaanap haumai meree | Excessive cleverness and egotism are mine. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰੀ ॥ bahu karam kamaaveh lobh mohi viaape haumai kade na chookai feree | The mortal performs all sorts of rituals in greed and attachment; engrossed in egotsim, he shall never escape the cycle of reincarnation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ਗਲ ਚੰਗੇਰੀ ॥੨॥ naanak aap karaae karataa jo tis bhaavai saaee gal changeree |2| O Nanak, the Creator Himself inspires all to act. Whatever pleases Him is good. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ sach khaanaa sach painanaa sach naam adhaar | Let Truth be your food, and Truth your clothes, and take the Support of the True Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ gur poorai melaaeaa prabh devanahaar | The True Guru shall lead you to meet God, the Great Giver. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਾਗੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ bhaag pooraa tin jaagiaa japiaa nirankaar | When perfect destiny is activated, the mortal meditates on the Formless Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ saadhoo sangat lagiaa tariaa sansaar | Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੩੫॥ naanak sifat salaah kar prabh kaa jaikaar |35| O Nanak, chant God’s Praises, and celebrate His Victory. ||35|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਭੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੁ ॥ sabhe jeea samaal apanee mihar kar | In Your Mercy, You care for all beings and creatures. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਮੁਚੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਨਿ ਤਰੁ ॥ an paanee much upaae dukh daalad bhan tar | You produce corn and water in abundance; You eliminate pain and poverty, and carry all beings across. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਦਾਤਾਰਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਠਰੁ ॥ aradaas sunee daataar hoee sisatt tthar | The Great Giver listened to my prayer, and the world has been cooled and comforted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲੇਵਹੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਅਪਦਾ ਸਭ ਹਰੁ ॥ levahu kantth lagaae apadaa sabh har | Take me into Your Embrace, and take away all my pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਘਰੁ ॥੧॥ naanak naam dhiaae prabh kaa safal ghar |1| Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the House of God is fruitful and prosperous. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਵੁਠੇ ਮੇਘ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ vutthe megh suhaavane hukam keetaa karataar | Rain is falling from the clouds - it is so beautiful! The Creator Lord issued His Order. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਿਜਕੁ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ rijak upaaeon agalaa tthaandt pee sansaar | Grain has been produced in abundance; the world is cooled and comforted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ tan man hariaa hoeaa simarat agam apaar | The mind and body are rejuvenated, meditating in remembrance on the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ॥ kar kirapaa prabh aapanee sache sirajanahaar | O my True Creator Lord God, please shower Your Mercy on me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥ keetaa lorreh so kareh naanak sad balihaar |2| He does whatever He pleases; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਵਡਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ vaddaa aap agam hai vaddee vaddiaaee | The Great Lord is Inaccessible; His glorious greatness is glorious! - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ॥ gurasabadee vekh vigasiaa antar saant aaee | Gazing upon Him through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, I blossom forth in ecstasy; tranquility comes to my inner being. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥ sabh aape aap varatadaa aape hai bhaaee | All by Himself, He Himself is pervading everywhere, O Siblings of Destiny. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਪਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਭ ਨਥੀਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਈ ॥ aap naath sabh natheean sabh hukam chalaaee | He Himself is the Lord and Master of all. He has subdued all, and all are under the Hukam of His Command. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਸਭ ਚਲੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੩੬॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥ naanak har bhaavai so kare sabh chalai rajaaee |36|1| sudh | O Nanak, the Lord does whatever He pleases. Everyone walks in harmony with His Will. ||36||1|| Sudh|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕਹਾ ਨਰ ਗਰਬਸਿ ਥੋਰੀ ਬਾਤ ॥ kahaa nar garabas thoree baat | O mortal, why are you so proud of small things? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਨ ਦਸ ਨਾਜੁ ਟਕਾ ਚਾਰਿ ਗਾਂਠੀ ਐਂਡੌ ਟੇਢੌ ਜਾਤੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man das naaj ttakaa chaar gaantthee ainddau ttedtau jaat |1| rahaau | With a few pounds of grain and a few coins in your pocket, you are totally puffed up with pride. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਗਾਂਉ ਸਉ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਇ ਲਖ ਟਕਾ ਬਰਾਤ ॥ bahut prataap gaanau sau paae due lakh ttakaa baraat | With great pomp and ceremony, you control a hundred villages, with an income of hundreds of thousands of dollars. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਦਿਵਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਨ ਹਰ ਪਾਤ ॥੧॥ divas chaar kee karahu saahibee jaise ban har paat |1| The power you exert will last for only a few days, like the green leaves of the forest. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਕੋਊ ਲੈ ਆਇਓ ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾ ਕੋਊ ਲੈ ਜਾਤੁ ॥ naa koaoo lai aaeo ihu dhan naa koaoo lai jaat | No one has brought this wealth with him, and no one will take it with him when he goes. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਵਨ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਲਾਤ ॥੨॥ raavan hoon te adhik chhatrapat khin meh ge bilaat |2| Emperors, even greater than Raawan, passed away in an instant. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
