ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ janam janam ke kilavikh bhau bhanjan guramukh eko ddeetthaa |1| rahaau | It is the Destroyer of the sins, the guilt and fears of countless incarnations; the Gurmukh sees the One Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟੰਤਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ kott kottantar ke paap binaasan har saachaa man bhaaeaa | Millions upon millions of sins are erased, when the mind comes to love the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ har bin avar na soojhai doojaa satigur ek bujhaaeaa |1| I do not know any other, except the Lord; the True Guru has revealed the One Lord to me. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜਿਨ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ prem padaarath jin ghatt vasiaa sahaje rahe samaaee | Those whose hearts are filled with the wealth of the Lord’s Love, remain intuitively absorbed in Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੨॥ sabad rate se rang chaloole raate sehaj subhaaee |2| Imbued with the Shabad, they are dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love. They are imbued with the Lord’s celestial peace and poise. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਲਾਲ ਭਈ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਈ ॥ rasanaa sabad veechaar ras raatee laal bhee rang laaee | Contemplating the Shabad, the tongue is imbued with joy; embracing His Love, it is dyed a deep crimson. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ॥੩॥ raam naam nihakeval jaaniaa man tripatiaa saant aaee |3| I have come to know the Name of the Pure Detached Lord; my mind is satisfied and comforted. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਿੑ ਪੜਿੑ ਮੋਨੀ ਸਭਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੇਖ ਥਕੇ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥ panddit parra parra monee sabh thaake bhram bhekh thake bhekhadhaaree | The Pandits, the religious scholars, read and study, and all the silent sages have grown weary; they have grown weary of wearing their religious robes and wandering all around. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ gur parasaad niranjan paaeaa saachai sabad veechaaree |4| By Guru’s Grace, I have found the Immaculate Lord; I contemplate the True Word of the Shabad. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ aavaa gaun nivaar sach raate saach sabad man bhaaeaa | My coming and going in reincarnation is ended, and I am imbued with Truth; the True Word of the Shabad is pleasing to my mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ satigur sev sadaa sukh paaeeai jin vichahu aap gavaaeaa |5| Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is found, and self-conceit is eliminated from within. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ saachai sabad sehaj dhun upajai man saachai liv laaee | Through the True Word of the Shabad, the celestial melody wells up, and the mind is lovingly focused on the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੬॥ agam agochar naam niranjan guramukh man vasaaee |6| The Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable Lord, abides in the mind of the Gurmukh. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਕਸ ਮਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ ekas meh sabh jagato varatai viralaa ek pachhaanai | The whole world is contained in the One Lord. How rare are those who understand the One Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੭॥ sabad marai taa sabh kichh soojhai anadin eko jaanai |7| One who dies in the Shabad comes to know everything; night and day, he realizes the One Lord. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ jis no nadar kare soee jan boojhai hor kahanaa kathan na jaaee | That humble being, upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, understands. Nothing else can be said. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੮॥੨॥ naanak naam rate sadaa bairaagee ek sabad liv laaee |8|2| O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Naam are forever detached from the world; they are lovingly attuned to the One Word of the Shabad. ||8||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥ man mere har kee akath kahaanee | O my mind, the Speech of the Lord is unspoken. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har nadar kare soee jan paae guramukh viralai jaanee |1| rahaau | That humble being who is blessed by the Lord’s Glance of Grace, obtains it. How rare is that Gurmukh who understands. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥ har gahir ganbheer gunee gaheer gur kai sabad pachhaaniaa | The Lord is Deep, Profound and Unfathomable, the Ocean of Excellence; He is realized through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਬਉਰਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ bahu bidh karam kareh bhaae doojai bin sabadai bauraaniaa |1| Mortals do their deeds in all sorts of ways, in the love of duality; but without the Shabad, they are insane. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ har naam naavai soee jan niramal fir mailaa mool na hoee | That humble being who bathes in the Lord’s Name becomes immaculate; he never becomes polluted again. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹੈ ਮੈਲਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੨॥ naam binaa sabh jag hai mailaa doojai bharam pat khoee |2| Without the Name, the whole world is polluted; wandering in duality, it loses its honor. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਂ ਕਿਆ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਮੈ ਤਾ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ kiaa drirraan kiaa sangreh tiaagee mai taa boojh na paaee | What should I grasp? What should I gather up or leave behind? I do not know. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੋ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥ hohi deaal kripaa kar har jeeo naamo hoe sakhaaee |3| O Dear Lord, Your Name is the Help and Support of those whom You bless with Your kindness and compassion. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਏ ॥ sachaa sach daataa karam bidhaataa jis bhaavai tis naae laae | The True Lord is the True Giver, the Architect of Destiny; as He pleases, He links mortals to the Name. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥ guroo duaarai soee boojhai jis no aap bujhaae |4| He alone comes to understand, who enters the Guru’s Gate, whom the Lord Himself instructs. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤੇ ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ dekh bisamaad ihu man nahee chete aavaa gaun sansaaraa | Even gazing upon the wonders of the Lord, this mind does not think of Him. The world comes and goes in reincarnation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੫॥ satigur seve soee boojhai paae mokh duaaraa |5| Serving the True Guru, the mortal comes to understand, and finds the Door of Salvation. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੑ ਦਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਸੇ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਗਾੜਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ jina dar soojhai se kade na vigaarreh satigur boojh bujhaaee | Those who understand the Lord’s Court, never suffer separation from him. The True Guru has imparted this understanding. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਾਈ ॥੬॥ sach sanjam karanee kirat kamaaveh aavan jaan rahaaee |6| They practice truth, self-restraint and good deeds; their comings and goings are ended. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ se dar saachai saach kamaaveh jin guramukh saach adhaaraa | In the Court of the True Lord, they practice Truth. The Gurmukhs take the Support of the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
