ਜਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਪਰਵਾਨ ॥ jin santan jaaniaa too tthaakur te aae paravaan | Those Saints who know You, O Lord and Master - blessed and approved is their coming into the world. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੪੧॥੬੪॥ jan kaa sang paaeeai vaddabhaagee naanak santan kai kurabaan |2|41|64| The Congregation of those humble beings is obtained by great good fortune; Nanak is a sacrifice to the Saints. ||2||41||64|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tum samarath kaaran karanaa toottee tum hee joree |1| rahaau | You are the All-powerful Cause of causes. You have ended my separation, and joined me with God. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਬਿਖਈ ਤੁਮ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਈ ॥ janam janam ke bikhee tum taare sumat sang tumaarai paaee | You save us from the corruption and sins of countless incarnations; associating with You, we obtain sublime understanding. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥ anik jon bhramate prabh bisarat saas saas har gaaee |1| Forgetting God, we wandered through countless incarnations; with each and every breath, we sing the Lord’s Praises. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥ jo jo sang mile saadhoo kai te te patit puneetaa | Whoever meets with the Holy Saints - those sinners are sanctified. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੬੫॥ kahu naanak jaa ke vaddabhaagaa tin janam padaarath jeetaa |2|42|65| Says Nanak, those who have such high destiny, win this invaluable human life. ||2||42||65|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੂਖ ਕੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਜਸੁ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਛਾਇਓ ॥ kripaa nidhaan sookh ke saagar jas sabh meh jaa ko chhaaeo | The Treasure of Mercy, the Ocean of Peace - His Praises are diffused everywhere. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗ ਤੁਮ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਨਾ ਆਪੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ santasang rang tum kee apanaa aap drisattaaeo |1| O Lord, You celebrate in the Society of the Saints; You reveal Yourself to them. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਰਨ ਝਾਰੀ ਕੇਸਾਇਓ ॥ nainahu sang santan kee sevaa charan jhaaree kesaaeo | With my eyes I see the Saints, and dedicate myself to serving them; I wash their feet with my hair. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੪੩॥੬੬॥ aatth pehar darasan santan kaa sukh naanak ihu paaeo |2|43|66| Twenty-four hours a day, I gaze upon the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of the Saints; this is the peace and comfort which Nanak has received. ||2||43||66|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਜਨੁ ਸੁਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sajan suridaa suhelaa sahaje so kaheeai baddabhaagee |1| rahaau | is a good-hearted friend, intuitively embellished with happiness. He is said to be blessed and fortunate. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਹਿਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਅਲਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥ rahit bikaar alap maaeaa te ahanbudh bikh tiaagee | He is rid of sin and corruption, and detached from Maya; he has renounced the poison of egotistical intellect. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਆਸ ਏਕਹਿ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੀਐਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ daras piaas aas ekeh kee ttek heeain pria paagee |1| He thirsts for the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, and he places his hopes in the One Lord alone. The Feet of his Beloved are the Support of his heart. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਸੋਇ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਸਨੁ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਸਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ achint soe jaagan utth baisan achint hasat bairaagee | He sleeps, wakes, rises up and sits down without anxiety; he laughs and cries without anxiety. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਠਗਾਨਾ ਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਠਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੪੪॥੬੭॥ kahu naanak jin jagat tthagaanaa su maaeaa har jan tthaagee |2|44|67| Says Nanak, she who has cheated the world - that Maya is cheated by the humble servant of the Lord. ||2||44||67|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪੂਕਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ pookaaran kau jo udam karataa gur paramesar taa kau maarai |1| rahaau | Whoever tries to complain is destroyed by the Guru, the Transcendent Lord God. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਓਹੁ ਹਾਰੈ ॥ niravairai sang vair rachaavai har daragah ohu haarai | Whoever harbors vengeance against the One who is beyond all vengenace, shall lose in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ aad jugaad prabh kee vaddiaaee jan kee paij savaarai |1| From the very beginning of time, and throughout the ages, it is the glorious greatness of God, that He preserves the honor of His humble servants. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਧਾਰੈ ॥ nirbhau bhe sagal bhau mittiaa charan kamal aadhaarai | The mortal becomes fearless, and all his fears are taken away, when he leans on the Support of the Lord’s Lotus Feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਓ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੫॥੬੮॥ gur kai bachan japio naau naanak pragatt bheo sansaarai |2|45|68| Chanting the Name, through the Guru’s Word, Nanak has become famous throughout the world. ||2||45||68|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jiau jaanahu tiau rakhahu gusaaee pekh jeevaan parataap |1| rahaau | As You see fit, You save us, O Lord of the World. Beholding Your Glorious Grandeur, I live. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ gur upades saadh kee sangat binasio sagal santaap | Through the Guru’s Instruction, and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sorrow and suffering is taken away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਮਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਭਾਖਨ ਜਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ mitr satr pekh samat beechaario sagal sanbhaakhan jaap |1| I look upon friend and enemy alike; all that I speak is the Lord’s meditation. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਆਘਾਨੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥ tapat bujhee seetal aaghaane sun anahad bisam bhe bisamaad | The fire within me is quenched; I am cool, calm and tranquil. Hearing the unstruck celestial melody, I am wonder-struck and amazed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਦ ॥੨॥੪੬॥੬੯॥ anad bheaa naanak man saachaa pooran poore naad |2|46|69| I am in ecstasy, O Nanak, and my mind is filled with Truth, through the perfect perfection of the Sound-current of the Naad. ||2||46||69|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
