ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥ gur poore te paaeaa jaaee | Through the Perfect Guru, it is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ naam rate sadaa sukh paaee | Those who are imbued with the Naam find everlasting peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ bin naamai haumai jal jaaee |3| But without the Naam, mortals burn in egotism. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ vaddabhaagee har naam beechaaraa | By great good furtune, some contemplate the Lord’s Name. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਛੂਟੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ chhoottai raam naam dukh saaraa | Through the Lord’s Name, all sorrows are eradicated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ hiradai vasiaa su baahar paasaaraa | He dwells within the heart, and pervades the external universe as well. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥ naanak jaanai sabh upaavanahaaraa |4|12| O Nanak, the Creator Lord knows all. ||4||12|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਰਮ ਜੰਤੁ ॥ teraa keea kiram jant | I am just a worm, created by You, O Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਜਾਪੀ ਆਦਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥ dehi ta jaapee aad mant |1| If you bless me, then I chant Your Primal Mantra. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥ gun aakh veechaaree meree maae | I chant and reflect on His Glorious Virtues, O my mother. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har jap har kai lgau paae |1| rahaau | Meditating on the Lord, I fall at the Lord’s Feet. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥ gur prasaad laage naam suaad | By Guru’s Grace, I am addicted to the favor of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਹੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ਵੈਰਿ ਵਾਦਿ ॥੨॥ kaahe janam gavaavahu vair vaad |2| Why waste your life in hatred, vengeance and conflict? ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ gur kirapaa keenaee chookaa abhimaan | When the Guru granted His Grace, my egotism was eradicated, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥ sehaj bhaae paaeaa har naam |3| and then, I obtained the Lord’s Name with intuitive ease. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਊਤਮੁ ਊਚਾ ਸਬਦ ਕਾਮੁ ॥ aootam aoochaa sabad kaam | The most lofty and exalted occupation is to contemplate the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩॥ naanak vakhaanai saach naam |4|1|13| Nanak chants the True Name. ||4||1||13|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਨਸਪਤਿ ਮਉਲੀ ਚੜਿਆ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥ banasapat maulee charriaa basant | The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ eihu man mauliaa satiguroo sang |1| This mind blossoms forth, in association with the True Guru. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੁਮੑ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨਾ ॥ tuma saach dhiaavahu mugadh manaa | So meditate on the True Lord, O my foolish mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਾਂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taan sukh paavahu mere manaa |1| rahaau | Only then shall you find peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਉਲਿਐ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥ eit man mauliai bheaa anand | This mind blossoms forth, and I am in ecstasy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੨॥ amrit fal paaeaa naam gobind |2| I am blessed with the Ambrosial Fruit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥ eko ek sabh aakh vakhaanai | Everyone speaks and says that the Lord is the One and Only. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥ hukam boojhai taan eko jaanai |3| By understanding the Hukam of His Command, we come to know the One Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ kehat naanak haumai kahai na koe | Says Nanak, no one can describe the Lord by speaking through ego. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਖਣੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪॥ aakhan vekhan sabh saahib te hoe |4|2|14| All speech and insight comes from our Lord and Master. ||4||2||14|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਭਿ ਜੁਗ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ॥ sabh jug tere keete hoe | All the ages were created by You, O Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਏ ॥੧॥ satigur bhettai mat budh hoe |1| Meeting with the True Guru, one’s intellect is awakened. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪੇ ਲੈਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ har jeeo aape laihu milaae | O Dear Lord, please blend me with Yourself; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur kai sabad sach naam samaae |1| rahaau | let me merge in the True Name, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਿ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥ man basant hare sabh loe | When the mind is in spring, all people are rejuvenated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਫਲਹਿ ਫੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ faleh fuleeeh raam naam sukh hoe |2| Blossoming forth and flowering through the Lord’s Name, peace is obtained. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ sadaa basant gurasabad veechaare | Contemplating the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, one is in spring forever, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ raam naam raakhai ur dhaare |3| with the Lord’s Name enshrined in the heart. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਿ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥ man basant tan man hariaa hoe | When the mind is in spring, the body and mind are rejuvenated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੫॥ naanak ihu tan birakh raam naam fal paae soe |4|3|15| O Nanak, this body is the tree which bears the fruit of the Lord’s Name. ||4||3||15|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਿਨੑ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ tina basant jo har gun gaae | They alone are in the spring season, who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ poorai bhaag har bhagat karaae |1| They come to worship the Lord with devotion, through their perfect destiny. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਬਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਸੋਇ ॥ eis man kau basant kee lagai na soe | This mind is not even touched by spring. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਲਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਦੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ eihu man jaliaa doojai doe |1| rahaau | This mind is burnt by duality and double-mindedness. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਬਾਂਧਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ eihu man dhandhai baandhaa karam kamaae | This mind is entangled in worldly affairs, creating more and more karma. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂਠਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ maaeaa mootthaa sadaa bilalaae |2| Enchanted by Maya, it cries out in suffering forever. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਛੂਟੈ ਜਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ॥ eihu man chhoottai jaan satigur bhettai | This mind is released, only when it meets with the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਮਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਫੇਟੈ ॥੩॥ jamakaal kee fir aavai na fettai |3| Then, it does not suffer beatings by the Messenger of Death. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਛੂਟਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਲੀਆ ਛਡਾਇ ॥ eihu man chhoottaa gur leea chhaddaae | This mind is released, when the Guru emancipates it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੬॥ naanak maaeaa mohu sabad jalaae |4|4|16| O Nanak, attachment to Maya is burnt away through the Word of the Shabad. ||4||4||16|| - Guru Amardas Ji
