ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਖਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਕੀਏ ॥ jin kau takhat milai vaddiaaee guramukh se paradhaan kee | Those who are blessed with the glory of the Lord’s Throne - those Gurmukhs are renowned as supreme. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਭਏ ਸੇ ਪਾਰਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਥੀਏ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥ paaras bhett bhe se paaras naanak har gur sang thee |4|4|12| Touching the philosopher’s stone, they themselves becomes the philosopher’s stone; they become the companions of the Lord, the Guru. ||4||4||12|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥ maahaa rutee meh sad basant | Throughout the months and the seasons, the Lord is always in bloom. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤੁ ॥ jit hariaa sabh jeea jant | He rejuvenates all beings and creatures. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਆ ਹਉ ਆਖਾ ਕਿਰਮ ਜੰਤੁ ॥ kiaa hau aakhaa kiram jant | What can I say? I am just a worm. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤੇਰਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੁ ॥੧॥ teraa kinai na paaeaa aad ant |1| No one has found Your beginning or Your end, O Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਵ ॥ tai saahib kee kareh sev | Those who serve You, Lord, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਆਤਮ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ param sukh paaveh aatam dev |1| rahaau | obtain the greatest peace; their souls are so divine. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ karam hovai taan sevaa karai | If the Lord is merciful, then the mortal is allowed to serve Him. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥ gur parasaadee jeevat marai | By Guru’s Grace, he remains dead while yet alive. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥ anadin saach naam ucharai | Night and day, he chants the True Name; - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੨॥ ein bidh praanee dutar tarai |2| in this way, he crosses over the treacherous world-ocean. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਖੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ bikh amrit karataar upaae | The Creator created both poison and nectar. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਕਉ ਦੁਇ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥ sansaar birakh kau due fal laae | He attached these two fruits to the world-plant. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥ aape karataa kare karaae | The Creator Himself is the Doer, the Cause of all. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਖਵਾਏ ॥੩॥ jo tis bhaavai tisai khavaae |3| He feeds all as He pleases. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ naanak jis no nadar karee | O Nanak, when He casts His Glance of Grace, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥ amrit naam aape dee | He Himself bestows His Ambrosial Naam. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ bikhiaa kee baasanaa maneh karee | Thus, the desire for sin and corruption is ended. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੪॥੧॥ apanaa bhaanaa aap karee |4|1| The Lord Himself carries out His Own Will. ||4||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਰਾਤੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥ raate saach har naam nihaalaa | Those who are attuned to the True Lord’s Name are happy and exalted. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ deaa karahu prabh deen deaalaa | Take pity on me, O God, Merciful to the meek. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ tis bin avar nahee mai koe | Without Him, I have no other at all. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ jiau bhaavai tiau raakhai soe |1| As it pleases His Will, He keeps me. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥ gur gopaal merai man bhaae | The Guru, the Lord, is pleasing to my mind. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ reh na skau darasan dekhe bin sehaj milau gur mel milaae |1| rahaau | I cannot even survive, without the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. But I shall easily unite with the Guru, if He unites me in His Union. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਭੀ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਾ ॥ eihu man lobhee lobh lubhaanaa | The greedy mind is enticed by greed. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਰਾਮ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ॥ raam bisaar bahur pachhutaanaa | Forgetting the Lord, it regrets and repents in the end. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਰਾਂਗੇ ॥ bichhurat milaae gur sev raange | The separated ones are reunited, when they are inspired to serve the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥੨॥ har naam deeo masatak vaddabhaage |2| They are blessed with the Lord’s Name - such is the destiny written on their foreheads. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ paun paanee kee ih deh sareeraa | This body is built of air and water. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਠਿਨ ਤਨਿ ਪੀਰਾ ॥ haumai rog katthin tan peeraa | The body is afflicted with the terribly painful illness of egotism. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ guramukh raam naam daaroo gun gaaeaa | The Gurmukh has the Medicine: singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ kar kirapaa gur rog gavaaeaa |3| Granting His Grace, the Guru has cured the illness. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਚਾਰਿ ਨਦੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਰੇ ॥ chaar nadeea aganee tan chaare | The four evils are the four rivers of fire flowing through the body. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਜਲੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੇ ॥ trisanaa jalat jale ahankaare | It is burning in desire, and burning in egotism. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਾਰੇ ॥ gur raakhe vaddabhaagee taare | Those whom the Guru protects and saves are very fortunate. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨॥ jan naanak ur har amrit dhaare |4|2| Servant Nanak enshrines the Ambrosial Name of the Lord in his heart. ||4||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥ har seve so har kaa log | One who serves the Lord is the Lord’s person. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ saach sehaj kade na hovai sog | He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ manamukh mue naahee har man maeh | The self-willed manmukhs are dead; the Lord is not within their minds. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਭੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ mar mar jameh bhee mar jaeh |1| They die and die again and again, and are reincarnated, only to die once more. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ se jan jeeve jin har man maeh | They alone are alive, whose minds are filled with the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saach samaaleh saach samaeh |1| rahaau | They contemplate the True Lord, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ har na seveh te har te door | Those who do not serve the Lord are far away from the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ disantar bhaveh sir paaveh dhoor | They wander in foreign lands, with dust thrown on their heads. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ॥ har aape jan lee laae | The Lord Himself enjoins His humble servants to serve Him. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ tin sadaa sukh hai til na tamaae |2| They live in peace forever, and have no greed at all. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
