ਗੁਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ gur sang dikhaaeo raam raae |1| The Guru has shown me that my Sovereign Lord God is with me. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਬਨੇ ॥ mil sakhee sahelee har gun bane | Joining together with my friends and companions, I am adorned with the Lord’s Glorious Virtues. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਖੇਲਹਿ ਵਰ ਕਾਮਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜਤ ਮਨ ਮਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har prabh sang kheleh var kaaman guramukh khojat man mane |1| rahaau | The sublime soul-brides play with their Lord God. The Gurmukhs look within themselves; their minds are filled with faith. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਭੇਉ ॥ manamukhee duhaagan naeh bheo | The self-willed manmukhs, suffering in separation, do not understand this mystery. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਓਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਵੈ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰੇਉ ॥ ohu ghatt ghatt raavai sarab preo | The Beloved Lord of all celebrates in each and every heart. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੇਉ ॥ guramukh thir cheenai sang deo | The Gurmukh is stable, knowing that God is always with him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਪੁ ਜਪੇਉ ॥੨॥ gur naam drirraaeaa jap japeo |2| The Guru has implanted the Naam within me; I chant it, and meditate on it. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ bin gur bhagat na bhaau hoe | Without the Guru, devotional love does not well up within. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਸੰਗੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ bin gur sant na sang dee | Without the Guru, one is not blessed with the Society of the Saints. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਧੰਧੁ ਰੋਇ ॥ bin gur andhule dhandh roe | Without the Guru, the blind cry out, entangled in worldly affairs. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਖੋਇ ॥੩॥ man guramukh niramal mal sabad khoe |3| That mortal who becomes Gurmukh becomes immaculate; the Word of the Shabad washes away his filth. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥ gur man maario kar sanjog | Uniting with the Guru, the mortal conquers and subdues his mind. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਾਵੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ ahinis raave bhagat jog | Day and night, he savors the Yoga of devotional worship. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ gur sant sabhaa dukh mittai rog | Associating with the Saint Guru, suffering and sickness are ended. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਸਹਜ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੪॥੬॥ jan naanak har var sehaj jog |4|6| Servant Nanak merges with his Husband Lord, in the Yoga of intuitive ease. ||4||6|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਜਿ ॥ aape kudarat kare saaj | By His Creative Power, God fashioned the creation. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਬੇੜੇ ਰਾਜੁ ਰਾਜਿ ॥ sach aap niberre raaj raaj | The King of kings Himself adminsters true justice. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਥਿ ॥ guramat aootam sang saath | The most sublime Word of the Guru’s Teachings is always with us. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਆਥਿ ॥੧॥ har naam rasaaein sehaj aath |1| The wealth of the Lord’s Name, the source of nectar, is easily acquired. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਤ ਬਿਸਰਸਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਬੋਲਿ ॥ mat bisaras re man raam bol | So chant the Name of the Lord; do not forget it, O my mind. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤੁਲਾਏ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਤੋਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aparanpar agam agochar guramukh har aap tulaae atul tol |1| rahaau | The Lord is Infinite, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; His weight cannot be weighed, but He Himself allows the Gurmukh to weigh Him. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਤੋਰ ॥ gur charan sareveh gurasikh tor | Your GurSikhs serve at the Guru’s Feet. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਤਰੇ ਤਜਿ ਮੇਰ ਤੋਰ ॥ gur sev tare taj mer tor | Serving the Guru, they are carried across; they have abandoned any distinction between ‘mine’ and ‘yours’. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨਿ ਕਠੋਰ ॥ nar nindak lobhee man katthor | The slanderous and greedy people are hard-hearted. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਭਾਈ ਸਿ ਚੋਰ ਚੋਰ ॥੨॥ gur sev na bhaaee si chor chor |2| Those who do not love to serve the Guru are the most thieving of thieves. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਬਖਸੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਉ ॥ gur tutthaa bakhase bhagat bhaau | When the Guru is pleased, He blesses the mortals with loving devotional worship of the Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਠਾਉ ॥ gur tutthai paaeeai har mehal tthaau | When the Guru is pleased, the mortal obtains a place in the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਰਹਰਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥ parahar nindaa har bhagat jaag | So renounce slander, and awaken in devotional worship of the Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੩॥ har bhagat suhaavee karam bhaag |3| Devotion to the Lord is wonderful; it comes through good karma and destiny. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ gur mel milaavai kare daat | The Guru unites in union with the Lord, and grants the gift of the Name. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ gurasikh piaare dinas raat | The Guru loves His Sikhs, day and night. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਫਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ fal naam paraapat gur tus dee | They obtain the fruit of the Naam, when the Guru’s favor is bestowed. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਇ ॥੪॥੭॥ kahu naanak paaveh virale kee |4|7| Says Nanak, those who receive it are very rare indeed. ||4||7|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਇਕ ਤੁਕਾ ॥ basant mahalaa 3 ik tukaa | Basant, Third Mehl, Ek-Thukay: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ saahib bhaavai sevak sevaa karai | When it pleases our Lord and Master, His servant serves Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਭਿ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਰੈ ॥੧॥ jeevat marai sabh kul udharai |1| He remains dead while yet alive, and redeems all his ancestors. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਹਸੈ ॥ teree bhagat na chhoddau kiaa ko hasai | I shall not renounce Your devotional worship, O Lord; what does it matter if people laugh at me? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saach naam merai hiradai vasai |1| rahaau | The True Name abides within my heart. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗਲਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥ jaise maaeaa mohi praanee galat rahai | Just as the mortal remains engrossed in attachment to Maya, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੈਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਵਤ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥ taise sant jan raam naam ravat rahai |2| so does the Lord’s humble Saint remain absorbed in the Lord’s Name. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆ ॥ mai moorakh mugadh aoopar karahu deaa | I am foolish and ignorant, O Lord; please be merciful to me. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਰਹਉ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥ tau saranaagat rhau peaa |3| May I remain in Your Sanctuary. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਹਤੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਾਮਾ ॥ kehat naanak sansaar ke nihafal kaamaa | Says Nanak, worldly affairs are fruitless. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੮॥ gur prasaad ko paavai amrit naamaa |4|8| Only by Guru’s Grace does one receive the Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||8|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਬਿਪ ਪੂਜਿ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ॥ saal graam bip pooj manaavahu sukrit tulasee maalaa | O Brahmin, you worship and believe in your stone-god, and wear your ceremonial rosary beads. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਬੇੜਾ ਬਾਂਧਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੧॥ raam naam jap berraa baandhahu deaa karahu deaalaa |1| Chant the Name of the Lord. Build your boat, and pray, “O Merciful Lord, please be merciful to me.” ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
