ਨਾਮੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥ naame har kaa darasan bheaa |4|3| Thus did Naam Dayv come to receive the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan. ||4||3|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਮੈ ਬਉਰੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥ mai bauree meraa raam bhataar | I am crazy - the Lord is my Husband. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਰਚਿ ਰਚਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਉ ਸਿੰਗਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ rach rach taa kau krau singaar |1| I decorate and adorn myself for Him. ||1|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਭਲੇ ਨਿੰਦਉ ਭਲੇ ਨਿੰਦਉ ਭਲੇ ਨਿੰਦਉ ਲੋਗੁ ॥ bhale nindau bhale nindau bhale nindau log | Slander me well, slander me well, slander me well, O people. - Bhagat Namdev Ji

ਬਾਦੁ ਬਿਬਾਦੁ ਕਾਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ baad bibaad kaahoo siau na keejai | Do not engage in any arguments or debates with anyone. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਨੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ rasanaa raam rasaaein peejai |2| With your tongue, savor the Lord’s sublime essence. ||2|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਅਬ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨਿ ਐਸੀ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ ab jeea jaan aisee ban aaee | Now, I know within my soul, that such an arrangement has been made; - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਮਿਲਉ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ milau gupaal neesaan bajaaee |3| I will meet with my Lord by the beat of the drum. ||3|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਨਰੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ ausatat nindaa karai nar koee | Anyone can praise or slander me. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਨਾਮੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗੁ ਭੇਟਲ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੪॥ naame sreerang bhettal soee |4|4| Naam Dayv has met the Lord. ||4||4|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਖੀਰਿ ਖਾਡ ਘੀਉ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ kabahoo kheer khaadd gheeo na bhaavai | Sometimes, people do not appreciate milk, sugar and ghee. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਟੂਕ ਮਗਾਵੈ ॥ kabahoo ghar ghar ttook magaavai | Sometimes, they have to beg for bread from door to door. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਕੂਰਨੁ ਚਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ kabahoo kooran chane binaavai |1| Sometimes, they have to pick out the grain from the chaff. ||1|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ jiau raam raakhai tiau raheeai re bhaaee | As the Lord keeps us, so do we live, O Siblings of Destiny. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har kee mahimaa kichh kathan na jaaee |1| rahaau | The Lord’s Glory cannot even be described. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਤੁਰੇ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥ kabahoo ture turang nachaavai | Sometimes, people prance around on horses. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਪਾਇ ਪਨਹੀਓ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ kabahoo paae panaheeo na paavai |2| Sometimes, they do not even have shoes for their feet. ||2|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਖਾਟ ਸੁਪੇਦੀ ਸੁਵਾਵੈ ॥ kabahoo khaatt supedee suvaavai | Sometimes, people sleep on cozy beds with white sheets. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਭੂਮਿ ਪੈਆਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ kabahoo bhoom paiaar na paavai |3| Sometimes, they do not even have straw to put down on the ground. ||3|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥ bhanat naamadeo ik naam nisataarai | Naam Dayv prays, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save us. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜਿਹ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੫॥ jih gur milai tih paar utaarai |4|5| One who meets the Guru, is carried across to the other side. ||4||5|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਹਸਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇਹੁਰੇ ਆਇਆ ॥ hasat khelat tere dehure aaeaa | Laughing and playing, I came to Your Temple, O Lord. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਾਮਾ ਪਕਰਿ ਉਠਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ bhagat karat naamaa pakar utthaaeaa |1| While Naam Dayv was worshipping, he was grabbed and driven out. ||1|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਹੀਨੜੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਦਿਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ heenarree jaat meree jaadim raaeaa | I am of a low social class, O Lord; - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਛੀਪੇ ਕੇ ਜਨਮਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ chheepe ke janam kaahe kau aaeaa |1| rahaau | why was I born into a family of fabric dyers? ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਲੈ ਕਮਲੀ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਲਟਾਇ ॥ lai kamalee chalio palattaae | I picked up my blanket and went back, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਦੇਹੁਰੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਬੈਠਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ dehurai paachhai baitthaa jaae |2| to sit behind the temple. ||2|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ॥ jiau jiau naamaa har gun ucharai | As Naam Dayv uttered the Glorious Praises of the Lord, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਉ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥੩॥੬॥ bhagat janaan kau dehuraa firai |3|6| the temple turned around to face the Lord’s humble devotee. ||3||6|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਭੈਰਉ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਜੀਉ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥ bhairau naamadeo jeeo ghar 2 | Bhairao, Naam Dayv Jee, Second House: - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜੈਸੀ ਭੂਖੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਅਨਾਜ ॥ jaisee bhookhe preet anaaj | As the hungry person loves food, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਵੰਤ ਜਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਾਜ ॥ trikhaavant jal setee kaaj | and the thirsty person is obsessed with water, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜੈਸੀ ਮੂੜ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥ jaisee moorr kuttanb paraaein | and as the fool is attached to his family - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਐਸੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ aisee naame preet naraaein |1|
- just so, the Lord is very dear to Naam Dayv. ||1|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ naame preet naaraaein laagee | Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਭਇਓ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sehaj subhaae bheo bairaagee |1| rahaau | He has naturally and intuitively become detached from the world. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜੈਸੀ ਪਰ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਰਤ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ jaisee par purakhaa rat naaree | Like the woman who falls in love with another man, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਲੋਭੀ ਨਰੁ ਧਨ ਕਾ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੀ ॥ lobhee nar dhan kaa hitakaaree | and the greedy man who loves only wealth, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ kaamee purakh kaamanee piaaree | and the sexually promiscuous man who loves women and sex, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਐਸੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ aisee naame preet muraaree |2| just so, Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord. ||2|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ saaee preet ji aape laae | But that alone is real love, which the Lord Himself inspires; - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਜਾਏ ॥ gur parasaadee dubidhaa jaae | by Guru’s Grace, duality is eradicated. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਤੂਟਸਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ kabahu na toottas rahiaa samaae | Such love never breaks; through it, the mortal remains merged in the Lord. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਨਾਮੇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੩॥ naame chit laaeaa sach naae |3| Naam Dayv has focused his consciousness on the True Name. ||3|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਜੈਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਤਾ ॥ jaisee preet baarik ar maataa | Like the love between the child and its mother, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ aisaa har setee man raataa | so is my mind imbued with the Lord. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥ pranavai naamadeo laagee preet | Prays Naam Dayv, I am in love with the Lord. - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਬਸੈ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥ gobid basai hamaarai cheet |4|1|7| The Lord of the Universe abides within my consciousness. ||4||1||7|| - Bhagat Namdev Ji
ਘਰ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਅੰਧਾ ॥ ghar kee naar tiaagai andhaa | The blind fool abandons the wife of his own home, - Bhagat Namdev Ji
