ਭੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ bhai bhram binas ge khin maeh | Their fears and doubts are dispelled in an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ paarabraham vasiaa man aae |1| The Supreme Lord God comes to dwell in their minds. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ raam raam sant sadaa sahaae | The Lord is forever the Help and Support of the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ghar baahar naale paramesar rav rahiaa pooran sabh tthaae |1| rahaau | Inside the home of the heart, and outside as well, the Transcendent Lord is always with us, permeating and pervading all places. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ dhan maal joban jugat gopaal | The Lord of the World is my wealth, property, youth and ways and means. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ jeea praan nit sukh pratipaal | He continually cherishes and brings peace to my soul and breath of life. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਾਥ ॥ apane daas kau de raakhai haath | He reaches out with His Hand and saves His slave. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਥ ॥੨॥ nimakh na chhoddai sad hee saath |2| He does not abandon us, even for an instant; He is always with us. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ har saa preetam avar na koe | There is no other Beloved like the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥ saar samaale saachaa soe | The True Lord takes care of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧੁ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ॥ maat pitaa sut bandh naraaein | The Lord is our Mother, Father, Son and Relation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਣੁ ॥੩॥ aad jugaad bhagat gun gaaein |3| Since the beginning of time, and throughout the ages, His devotees sing His Glorious Praises. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ tis kee dhar prabh kaa man jor | My mind is filled with the Support and the Power of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥ ek binaa doojaa nahee hor | Without the Lord, there is no other at all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਪੁਰਖਾਰਥੁ ॥ naanak kai man ihu purakhaarath | Nanak’s mind is encouraged by this hope, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਰਥੁ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੫੧॥ prabhoo hamaaraa saare suaarath |4|38|51| that God will accomplish my objectives in life. ||4||38||51|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭੈ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਪੜਿਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥ bhai kau bhau parriaa simarat har naam | Fear itself becomes afraid, when the mortal remembers the Lord’s Name in meditation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਦਾਸ ਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sagal biaadh mittee trihu gun kee daas ke hoe pooran kaam |1| rahaau | All the diseases of the three gunas - the three qualities - are cured, and tasks of the Lord’s slaves are perfectly accomplished. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਾਮ ॥ har ke lok sadaa gun gaaveh tin kau miliaa pooran dhaam | The people of the Lord always sing His Glorious Praises; they attain His Perfect Mansion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਾਮ ॥੧॥ jan kaa daras baanchhai din raatee hoe puneet dharam raae jaam |1| Even the Righteous Judge of Dharma and the Messenger of Death yearn, day and night, to be sanctified by the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s humble servant. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥ kaam krodh lobh mad nindaa saadhasang mittiaa abhimaan | Sexual desire, anger, intoxication, egotism, slander and egotistical pride are eradicted in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਹਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੫੨॥ aise sant bhetteh vaddabhaagee naanak tin kai sad kurabaan |2|39|52| By great good fortune, such Saints are met. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ||2||39||52|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪੰਚ ਮਜਮੀ ਜੋ ਪੰਚਨ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ panch majamee jo panchan raakhai | One who harbors the five thieves, becomes the embodiment of these five. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਭਾਖੈ ॥ mithiaa rasanaa nit utth bhaakhai | He gets up each day and tells lies. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਕ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥ chakr banaae karai paakhandd | He applies ceremonial religious marks to his body, but practices hypocrisy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਝੁਰਿ ਝੁਰਿ ਪਚੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੰਡ ॥੧॥ jhur jhur pachai jaise tria randd |1| He wastes away in sadness and pain, like a lonely widow. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਝੂਠੁ ॥ har ke naam binaa sabh jhootth | Without the Name of the Lord, everything is false. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਠੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bin gur poore mukat na paaeeai saachee darageh saakat mootth |1| rahaau | Without the Perfect Guru, liberation is not obtained. In the Court of the True Lord, the faithless cynic is plundered. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਕੁਚੀਲੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ soee kucheel kudarat nahee jaanai | One who does not know the Lord’s Creative Power is polluted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲੀਪਿਐ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਸੁਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ leepiai thaae na such har maanai | Ritualistically plastering one’s kitchen square does not make it pure in the Eyes of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਧੋਵੈ ॥ antar mailaa baahar nit dhovai | If a person is polluted within, he may wash himself everyday on the outside, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥੨॥ saachee darageh apanee pat khovai |2| but in the Court of the True Lord, he forfeits his honor. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਉਪਾਉ ॥ maaeaa kaaran karai upaau | He works for the sake of Maya, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲੈ ਸੀਧਾ ਪਾਉ ॥ kabeh na ghaalai seedhaa paau | but he never places his feet on the right path. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਣੈ ॥ jin keea tis cheet na aanai | He never even remembers the One who created him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੂੜੀ ਕੂੜੀ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੩॥ koorree koorree mukhahu vakhaanai |3| He speaks falsehood, only falsehood, with his mouth. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ jis no karam kare karataar | That person, unto whom the Creator Lord shows Mercy, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥ saadhasang hoe tis biauhaar | deals with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ har naam bhagat siau laagaa rang | One who lovingly worships the Lord’s Name, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭੰਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੫੩॥ kahu naanak tis jan nahee bhang |4|40|53| says Nanak - no obstacles ever block his way. ||4||40||53|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ nindak kau fittake sansaar | The entire universe curses the slanderer. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥ nindak kaa jhootthaa biauhaar | False are the dealings of the slanderer. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਮੈਲਾ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥ nindak kaa mailaa aachaar | The slanderer’s lifestyle is filthy and polluted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ daas apune kau raakhanahaar |1| The Lord is the Saving Grace and the Protector of His slave. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਮੁਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ nindak muaa nindak kai naal | The slanderer dies with the rest of the slanderers. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
