ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ bhairau mahalaa 5 | Bhairao, Fifth Mehl: - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਧਨਾ ॥ niradhan kau tum devahu dhanaa | You bless the poor with wealth, O Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਪ ਜਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਨਾ ॥ anik paap jaeh niramal manaa | Countless sins are taken away, and the mind becomes immaculate and pure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥ sagal manorath pooran kaam | All the mind’s desires are fulfilled, and one’s tasks are perfectly accomplished. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਗਤ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥ bhagat apune kau devahu naam |1| You bestow Your Name upon Your devotee. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਰਾਇ ॥ safal sevaa gopaal raae | Service to the Lord, our Sovereign King, is fruitful and rewarding. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ karan karaavanahaar suaamee taa te birathaa koe na jaae |1| rahaau | Our Lord and Master is the Creator, the Cause of causes; no one is turned away from His Door empty-handed. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰੋਗੀ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖੰਡਹੁ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ rogee kaa prabh khanddahu rog | God eradicates the disease from the diseased person. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਖੀਏ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ dukhee kaa mittaavahu prabh sog | God takes away the sorrows of the suffering. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਤੁਮੑ ਥਾਨਿ ਬੈਠਾਵਹੁ ॥ nithaave kau tuma thaan baitthaavahu | And those who have no place at all - You seat them upon the place. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥ daas apane kau bhagatee laavahu |2| You link Your slave to devotional worship. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਤੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ nimaane kau prabh deto maan | God bestows honor on the dishonored. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਚਤੁਰ ਸੁਗਿਆਨੁ ॥ moorr mugadh hoe chatur sugiaan | He makes the foolish and ignorant become clever and wise. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਭਇਆਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਨਸੈ ॥ sagal bheaan kaa bhau nasai | The fear of all fear disappears. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ॥੩॥ jan apane kai har man basai |3| The Lord dwells within the mind of His humble servant. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ paarabraham prabh sookh nidhaan | The Supreme Lord God is the Treasure of Peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ॥ tat giaan har amrit naam | The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is the essence of reality. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲੈ ਲਾਏ ॥ kar kirapaa sant ttahalai laae | Granting His Grace, He enjoins the mortals to serve the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੬॥ naanak saadhoo sang samaae |4|23|36| O Nanak, such a person merges in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||4||23||36|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ sant manddal meh niramal reet | In the Realm of the Saints, one’s lifestyle is immaculate. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਏਕ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ santasang hoe ek pareet |1| In the Society of the Saints, one comes to love the One Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥ sant manddal meh jam kichhoo na kahai | In the Realm of the Saints, the Messenger of Death cannot touch the mortal. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ santasang hoe niramal baanee | In the Society of the Saints, one’s speech becomes immaculate - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੨॥ sant manddal meh naam vakhaanee |2| In the realm of the saints, the Lord’s Name is chanted. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਕਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ॥ sant manddal kaa nihachal aasan | The Realm of the Saints is the eternal, ever-stable place. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ॥ sant manddal meh paap binaasan | In the Realm of the Saints, sins are destroyed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਥਾ ॥ sant manddal meh niramal kathaa | In the Realm of the Saints, the immaculate sermon is spoken. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਖ ਨਸਾ ॥੩॥ santasang haumai dukh nasaa |3| In the Society of the Saints, the pain of egotism runs away. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥ sant manddal kaa nahee binaas | The Realm of the Saints cannot be destroyed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ sant manddal meh har gunataas | In the Realm of the Saints, is the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥ sant manddal tthaakur bisraam | The Realm of the Saints is the resting place of our Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੩੭॥ naanak ot pot bhagavaan |4|24|37| O Nanak, He is woven into the fabric of His devotees, through and through. ||4||24||37|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰੋਗੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਜਾਂ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ॥ rog kavan jaan raakhai aap | Why worry about disease, when the Lord Himself protects us? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ tis jan hoe na dookh santaap | That person whom the Lord protects, does not suffer pain and sorrow. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ jis aoopar prabh kirapaa karai | That person, upon whom God showers His Mercy - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਊਪਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥੧॥ tis aoopar te kaal paraharai |1|
- Death hovering above him is turned away. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ sadaa sakhaaee har har naam | The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is forever our Help and Support. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਜਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jis cheet aavai tis sadaa sukh hovai nikatt na aavai taa kai jaam |1| rahaau | When He comes to mind, the mortal finds lasting peace, and the Messenger of Death cannot even approach him. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਨ ਸੋ ਤਬ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ jab ihu na so tab kineh upaaeaa | When this being did not exist, who created him then? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਵਨ ਮੂਲ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥ kavan mool te kiaa pragattaaeaa | What has been produced from the source? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੈ ॥ aapeh maar aap jeevaalai | He Himself kills, and He Himself rejuvenates. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਪਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ॥੨॥ apane bhagat kau sadaa pratipaalai |2| He cherishes His devotees forever. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥ ॥ sabh kichh jaanahu tis kai haath | Know that everything is in His Hands. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੋ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥ prabh mero anaath ko naath | My God is the Master of the masterless. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਉ ॥ dukh bhanjan taa kaa hai naau | His Name is the Destroyer of pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੩॥ sukh paaveh tis ke gun gaau |3| Singing His Glorious Praises, you shall find peace. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ sun suaamee santan aradaas | O my Lord and Master, please listen to the prayer of Your Saint. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨੁ ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ jeeo praan dhan tumarai paas | I place my soul, my breath of life and wealth before You. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ eihu jag teraa sabh tujheh dhiaae | All this world is Yours; it meditates on You. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
