ਵਾਰੀ ਫੇਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਕਵਨੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਠਾਉ ॥੧॥ vaaree feree sadaa ghumaaee kavan anoop tero tthaau |1| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, forever devoted to You. Your place is incomparably beautiful! ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸਗਲਿਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਛਾਉ ॥ sarab pratipaaleh sagal samaaleh sagaliaa teree chhaau | You cherish and nurture all; You take care of all, and Your shade covers all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਗਨ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਆਸਾ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਤਾਰ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ magan manai meh chitvau aasaa nainahu taar tuhaaree | rahaau | My mind is intoxicated with delight, and my consciousness is filled with hope; my eyes are drenched with Your Love. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਓਇ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਰ ਮੂਰਤ ਪਲ ਕੈਸੇ ਓਇ ਪਲ ਘਰੀ ਕਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ oe din pehar moorat pal kaise oe pal gharee kihaaree | Blessed is that day, that hour, minute and second when the heavy, rigid shutters are opened, and desire is quenched. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਉਨੁ ਸੁ ਜਤਨੁ ਉਪਾਉ ਕਿਨੇਹਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਉਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ kaun su jatan upaau kinehaa sevaa kaun beechaaree | What is the method, what is the effort, and what is the service, which inspires me to contemplate You? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਨੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੫॥ maan abhimaan mohu taj naanak santah sang udhaaree |2|3|5| Abandon your egotistical pride and attachment; O Nanak, you shall be saved in the Society of the Saints. ||2||3||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿਦੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ karahu kripaa gopaal gobide apanaa naam japaavahu | rahaau | Have Mercy on me, O Life of the World, O Lord of the Universe, that I may chant Your Name. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ॥ kaadt lee prabh aan bikhai te saadhasang man laavahu | Please lift me up, God, out of vice and corruption, and attach my mind to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਟਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ bhram bhau mohu kattio gur bachanee apanaa daras dikhaavahu |1| Doubt, fear and attachment are eradicated from that person who follows the Guru’s Teachings, and gazes on the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਹੋਇ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਤਜਾਵਹੁ ॥ sabh kee ren hoe man meraa ahanbudh tajaavahu | Let my mind become the dust of all; may I abandon my egotistical intellect. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥੪॥੬॥ apanee bhagat dehi deaalaa vaddabhaagee naanak har paavahu |2|4|6| Please bless me with Your devotional worship, O Merciful Lord; by great good fortune, O Nanak, I have found the Lord. ||2||4||6|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤਜਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਆਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਚਤ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਪਹਿਰਤ ਖਾਤ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taj gopaal aan rang raachat mithiaa pahirat khaat | rahaau | Those who forsake the Lord, and become engrossed in other pleasures - false and useless are the clothes they wear, and the food they eat. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਸੁਖ ਭੋੁਗਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਨਿਬਹਤ ਮਾਤ ॥ dhan joban sanpai sukh bhuogavai sang na nibahat maat | The pleasures of wealth, youth, property and comforts will not stay with you, O mother. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਬਾਵਰ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਛਾਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤ ॥੧॥ mrig trisanaa dekh rachio baavar drum chhaaeaa rang raat |1| Seeing the mirage, the madman is entangled in it; he is imbued with pleasures that pass away, like the shade of a tree. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਮਦ ਮੋਹਤ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੈ ਖਾਤ ॥ maan moh mahaa mad mohat kaam krodh kai khaat | Totally intoxicated with the wine of pride and attachment, he has fallen into the pit of sexual desire and anger. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਹੋਇ ਸਹਾਤ ॥੨॥੫॥੭॥ kar geh lehu daas naanak kau prabh jeeo hoe sahaat |2|5|7| O Dear God, please be the Help and Support of servant Nanak; please take me by the hand, and uplift me. ||2||5||7|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਚਾਲਸਿ ਸਾਥ ॥ har bin koe na chaalas saath | Nothing goes along with the mortal, except for the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਨਾਥਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਥ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ deenaa naath karunaapat suaamee anaathaa ke naath | rahaau | He is the Master of the meek, the Lord of Mercy, my Lord and Master, the Master of the masterless. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਭੋੁਗਵਤ ਨਹ ਨਿਬਹਤ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਪਾਥ ॥ sut sanpat bikhiaa ras bhuogavat neh nibahat jam kai paath | Children, possessions and the enjoyment of corrupt pleasures do not go along with the mortal on the path of Death. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗਾਉ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਉਧਰੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੇ ਖਾਤ ॥੧॥ naam nidhaan gaau gun gobind udhar saagar ke khaat |1| Singing the Glorious Praises of the treasure of the Naam, and the Lord of the Universe, the mortal is carried across the deep ocean. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਨਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਅਕਥ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥ ॥ saran samarath akath agochar har simarat dukh laath | In the Sanctuary of the All-powerful, Indescribable, Unfathomable Lord, meditate in remembrance on Him, and your pains shall vanish. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਮਿਲੈ ਲਿਖਤ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਾਥ ॥੨॥੬॥੮॥ naanak deen dhoor jan baanchhat milai likhat dhur maath |2|6|8| Nanak longs for the dust of the feet of the Lord’s humble servant; he shall obtain it only if such pre-ordained destiny is written on his forehead. ||2||6||8|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਾਹਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ॥ bisarat naeh man te haree | I do not forget the Lord in my mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਬ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਭਈ ਆਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ab ih preet mahaa prabal bhee aan bikhai jaree | rahaau | This love has now become very strong; it has burnt away other corruption. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੂੰਦ ਕਹਾ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੀਨ ਰਹਤ ਨ ਘਰੀ ॥ boond kahaa tiaag chaatrik meen rehat na gharee | How can the rainbird forsake the rain-drop? The fish cannot survive without water, even for an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
