ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਜਿੰਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ har simar ekankaar saachaa sabh jagat jin upaaeaa | Meditate in remembrance on the One Universal Creator; the True Lord created the entire Universe. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਜਗਤਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ paun paanee agan baadhe gur khel jagat dikhaaeaa | The Guru controls the air, water and fire; He has staged the drama of the world. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਚਾਰਿ ਤੂ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਜਮ ਜਪ ਤਪੋ ॥ aachaar too veechaar aape har naam sanjam jap tapo | Reflect on your own self, and so practice good conduct; chant the Name of the Lord as your self-discipline and meditation. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਖਾ ਸੈਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਪੋ ॥੨॥ sakhaa sain piaar preetam naam har kaa jap japo |2| The Name of the Lord is your Companion, Friend and Dear Beloved; chant it, and meditate on it. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੁ ਚੋਟ ਨ ਖਾਵਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa too thir rahu chott na khaavahee raam | O my mind, remain steady and stable, and you will not have to endure beatings. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa gun gaaveh sehaj samaavahee raam | O my mind, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, you shall merge into Him with intuitive ease. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇ ਰਸੀਅਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਹੇ ॥ gun gaae raam rasaae raseeeh gur giaan anjan saarahe | Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, be happy. Apply the ointment of spiritual wisdom to your eyes. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸੰਘਾਰਹੇ ॥ trai lok deepak sabad chaanan panch doot sanghaarahe | The Word of the Shabad is the lamp which illuminates the three worlds; it slaughters the five demons. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਭੈ ਕਾਟਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਰਹਿ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਏ ॥ bhai kaatt nirbhau tareh dutar gur miliai kaaraj saare | Quieting your fears, become fearless, and you shall cross over the impassible world ocean. Meeting the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰੂਪੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਏ ॥੩॥ roop rang piaar har siau har aap kirapaa dhaare |3| You shall find the joy and the beauty of the Lord’s Love and Affection; the Lord Himself shall shower you with His Grace. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa too kiaa lai aaeaa kiaa lai jaaeisee raam | O my mind, why did you come into the world? What will you take with you when you go? - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤਾ ਛੁਟਸੀ ਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa taa chhuttasee jaa bharam chukaaeisee raam | O my mind, you shall be emancipated, when you eliminate your doubts. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਖਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਾਉ ਪਛਾਣਹੇ ॥ dhan sanch har har naam vakhar gur sabad bhaau pachhaanahe | So gather the wealth and capital of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, you shall realize its value. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮੈਲੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਣਹੇ ॥ mail parahar sabad niramal mehal ghar sach jaanahe | Filth shall be taken away, through the Immaculate Word of the Shabad; you shall know the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, your true home. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਵਹਿ ਝੋਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀ ਰਸੋ ॥ pat naam paaveh ghar sidhaaveh jhol amrit pee raso | Through the Naam, you shall obtain honor, and come home. Eagerly drink in the Ambrosial Amrit. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੋ ॥੪॥ har naam dhiaaeeai sabad ras paaeeai vaddabhaag japeeai har jaso |4| Meditate on the Lord’s Name, and you shall obtain the sublime essence of the Shabad; by great good fortune, chant the Praises of the Lord. ||4|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਉੜੀਆ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਕਿਉ ਚੜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa bin paurreea mandar kiau charrai raam | O my mind, without a ladder, how will you climb up to the Temple of the Lord? - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਅੰਬੜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ e man meriaa bin berree paar na anbarrai raam | O my mind, without a boat, you shall not reach the other shore. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਏ ॥ paar saajan apaar preetam gurasabad surat langhaave | On that far shore is Your Beloved, Infinite Friend. Only your awareness of the Guru’s Shabad will carry you across. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਪਛੋਤਾਵਏ ॥ mil saadhasangat kareh raleea fir na pachhotaave | Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and you shall enjoy ecstasy; you shall not regret or repent later on. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਓ ॥ kar deaa daan deaal saachaa har naam sangat paavo | Be Merciful, O Merciful True Lord God: please give me the Blessing of the Lord’s Name, and the Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਵਓ ॥੫॥੬॥ naanak peianpai sunahu preetam gur sabad man samajhaavo |5|6| Nanak prays: please hear me, O my Beloved; instruct my mind through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||5||6|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਿਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ antar piree piaar kiau pir bin jeeveeai raam | My inner being is filled with love for my Beloved Husband Lord. How can I live without Him? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ jab lag daras na hoe kiau amrit peeveeai raam | As long as I do not have the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, how can I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਿਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥ kiau amrit peeveeai har bin jeeveeai tis bin rehan na jaae | How can I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar without the Lord? I cannot survive without Him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥ anadin priau priau kare din raatee pir bin piaas na jaae | Night and day, I cry out, “Pri-o! Pri-o! Beloved! Beloved!”, day and night. Without my Husband Lord, my thirst is not quenched. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ apanee kripaa karahu har piaare har har naam sad saariaa | Please, bless me with Your Grace, O my Beloved Lord, that I may dwell on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, forever. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ gur kai sabad miliaa mai preetam hau satigur vittahu vaariaa |1| Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, I have met my Beloved; I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
