ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਅਨਿ ਤਿਤੈ ਲਗਦੀਆ ਨਹ ਖਿੰਜੋਤਾੜਾ ॥ jit laaeean titai lagadeea neh khinjotaarraa | Wherever I join them, there they are joined; they do not struggle against me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਇਛੀ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾੜਾ ॥ jo ichhee so fal paaeidaa gur andar vaarraa | I obtain the fruits of my desires; the Guru has directed me within. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਭਾਇਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਦਾ ਨੇੜਾ ॥੧੦॥ gur naanak tutthaa bhaaeirahu har vasadaa nerraa |10| When Guru Nanak is pleased, O Siblings of Destiny, the Lord is seen to be dwelling near at hand. ||10|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਾ ਮੂੰ ਆਵਹਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਹਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾਉ ॥ jaa moon aaveh chit too taa habhe sukh lahaau | When You come into my consciousness, then I obtain all peace and comfort. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮੰਝਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਲਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਤਹਿਜਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ naanak man hee manjh rangaavalaa piree tahijaa naau |1| Nanak: with Your Name within my mind, O my Husband Lord, I am filled with delight. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਏ ਹਭੇ ਹੀ ਛਾਰ ॥ kaparr bhog vikaar e habhe hee chhaar | Enjoyment of clothes and corrupt pleasures - all these are nothing more than dust. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖਾਕੁ ਲੋੁੜੇਦਾ ਤੰਨਿ ਖੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ॥੨॥ khaak luorredaa tan khe jo rate deedaar |2| I long for the dust of the feet of those who are imbued with the Lord’s Vision. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਿਆ ਤਕਹਿ ਬਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਹੀਅੜੇ ਹਿਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ kiaa takeh biaa paas kar heearre hik adhaar | Why do you look in other directions? O my heart, take the Support of the Lord alone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਥੀਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ theeo santan kee ren jit labhee sukh daataar |3| Become the dust of the feet of the Saints, and find the Lord, the Giver of peace. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥ vin karamaa har jeeo na paaeeai bin satigur manooaa na lagai | Without good karma, the Dear Lord is not found; without the True Guru, the mind is not joined to Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਰਮੁ ਧੀਰਾ ਕਲਿ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਪੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਤਗੈ ॥ dharam dheeraa kal andare ihu paapee mool na tagai | Only the Dharma remains stable in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; these sinners will not last at all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥ eh kar kare su eh kar paae ik gharree muhat na lagai | Whatever one does with this hand, he obtains with the other hand, without a moment’s delay. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਾਰੇ ਜੁਗ ਮੈ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨ ਭਗੈ ॥ chaare jug mai sodhiaa vin sangat ahankaar na bhagai | I have examined the four ages, and without the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, egotism does not depart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਛੁਟਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਸੰਗੈ ॥ haumai mool na chhuttee vin saadhoo satasangai | Egotism is never eradicated without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਚਰੁ ਥਾਹ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮਨ ਭੰਗੈ ॥ tichar thaah na paavee jichar saahib siau man bhangai | As long as one’s mind is torn away from his Lord and Master, he finds no place of rest. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਅਭਗੈ ॥ jin jan guramukh seviaa tis ghar deebaan abhagai | That humble being, who, as Gurmukh, serves the Lord, has the Support of the Imperishable Lord in the home of his heart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗੈ ॥੧੧॥ har kirapaa te sukh paaeaa gur satigur charanee lagai |11| By the Lord’s Grace, peace is obtained, and one is attached to the feet of the Guru, the True Guru. ||11|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਲੋੜੀਦੋ ਹਭ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਮੀਰਾ ਮੀਰੰਨ ਸਿਰਿ ॥ lorreedo habh jaae so meeraa meeran sir | I have searched everywhere for the King over the heads of kings. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਠ ਮੰਝਾਹੂ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਚਉਦੋ ਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ hatth manjhaahoo so dhanee chaudo mukh alaae |1| That Master is within my heart; I chant His Name with my mouth. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਾਣਿਕੂ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਉ ਡਿੰਨਾ ਧਣੀ ਅਪਾਹਿ ॥ maanikoo mohi maau ddinaa dhanee apaeh | O my mother, the Master has blessed me with the jewel. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਿਆਉ ਮਹਿਜਾ ਠੰਢੜਾ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ hiaau mahijaa tthandtarraa mukhahu sach alaae |2| My heart is cooled and soothed, chanting the True Name with my mouth. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮੂ ਥੀਆਊ ਸੇਜ ਨੈਣਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਵਿਛਾਵਣਾ ॥ moo theeaaoo sej nainaa piree vichhaavanaa | I have become the bed for my Beloved Husband Lord; my eyes have become the sheets. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੇ ਡੇਖੈ ਹਿਕ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਮਾ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥੩॥ je ddekhai hik vaar taa sukh keemaa hoo baahare |3| If You look at me, even for an instant, then I obtain peace beyond all price. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਆ ॥ man lochai har milan kau kiau darasan paaeea | My mind longs to meet the Lord; how can I obtain the Blessed Vision of His Darshan? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੈ ਲਖ ਵਿੜਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਜੇ ਬਿੰਦ ਬੋੁਲਾਈਆ ॥ mai lakh virrate saahibaa je bind buolaaeea | I obtain hundreds of thousands, if my Lord and Master speaks to me, even for an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਾਲੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨ ਸਾਈਆ ॥ mai chaare kunddaa bhaaleea tudh jevadd na saaeea | I have searched in four directions; there is no other as great as You, Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੈ ਦਸਿਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਹੋ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥ mai dasihu maarag santaho kiau prabhoo milaaeea | Show me the Path, O Saints. How can I meet God? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਇਤੁ ਪੰਥਿ ਜੁਲਾਈਆ ॥ man arapihu haumai tajahu it panth julaaeea | I dedicate my mind to Him, and renounce my ego. This is the Path which I shall take. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥ nit sevihu saahib aapanaa satasang milaaeea | Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I serve my Lord and Master continually. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭੇ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਆ ॥ sabhe aasaa pooreea gur mehal bulaaeea | All my hopes are fulfilled; the Guru has ushered me into the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੋੁਸਾਈਆ ॥੧੨॥ tudh jevadd hor na sujhee mere mitr guosaaeea |12| I cannot conceive of any other as great as You, O my Friend, O Lord of the World. ||12|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਾਵ ਮਿਲਾਵੇ ਕੋਲਿ ਕਵਲ ਜਿਵੈ ਬਿਗਸਾਵਦੋ ॥੧॥ paav milaave kol kaval jivai bigasaavado |1| If You place Your foot on me, I blossom forth like the lotus flower. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਿਰੀਆ ਸੰਦੜੀ ਭੁਖ ਮੂ ਲਾਵਣ ਥੀ ਵਿਥਰਾ ॥ pireea sandarree bhukh moo laavan thee vitharaa | If my Beloved becomes hungry, I will become food, and place myself before Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾਣੁ ਮਿਠਾਈ ਇਖ ਬੇਈ ਪੀੜੇ ਨਾ ਹੁਟੈ ॥੨॥ jaan mitthaaee ikh beee peerre naa huttai |2| I may be crushed, again and again, but like sugarcane, I do not stop yielding sweet juice. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਠਗਾ ਨੀਹੁ ਮਤ੍ਰੋੜਿ ਜਾਣੁ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਾ ਨਗਰੀ ॥ tthagaa neehu matrorr jaan gandhrabaa nagaree | Break off your love with the cheaters; realize that it is a mirage. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਖ ਘਟਾਊ ਡੂਇ ਇਸੁ ਪੰਧਾਣੂ ਘਰ ਘਣੇ ॥੩॥ sukh ghattaaoo ddooe is pandhaanoo ghar ghane |3| Your pleasure lasts for only two moments; this traveller wanders through countless homes. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
