ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ thaan thanantar antarajaamee | The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is in all places and interspaces. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ simar simar pooran paramesur chintaa ganat mittaaee he |8| Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Perfect Transcendent Lord, I am rid of all anxieties and calculations. ||8|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਖ ਬਾਹਾ ॥ har kaa naam kott lakh baahaa | One who has the Name of the Lord has hundreds of thousands and millions of arms. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਹਾ ॥ har jas keeratan sang dhan taahaa | The wealth of the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises is with him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਿਆਨ ਖੜਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਨਾ ਦੂਤ ਮਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ giaan kharrag kar kirapaa deenaa doot maare kar dhaaee he |9| In His Mercy, God has blessed me with the sword of spiritual wisdom; I have attacked and killed the demons. ||9|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥ har kaa jaap japahu jap japane | Chant the Chant of the Lord, the Chant of Chants. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਤਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਵਸਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੇ ॥ jeet aavahu vasahu ghar apane | Be a winner of the game of life and come to abide in your true home. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਨਰਕ ਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ lakh chauraaseeh narak na dekhahu rasak rasak gun gaaee he |10| You shall not see the 8.4 million types of hell; sing His Glorious Praises and remain saturated with loving devotion||10|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ khandd brahamandd udhaaranahaaraa | He is the Savior of worlds and galaxies. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ aooch athaah agam apaaraa | He is lofty, unfathomable, inaccessible and infinite. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ jis no kripaa kare prabh apanee so jan tiseh dhiaaee he |11| That humble being, unto whom God grants His Grace, meditates on Him. ||11|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੋਲੇ ॥ bandhan torr lee prabh mole | God has broken my bonds, and claimed me as His own. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨੇ ਘਰ ਗੋਲੇ ॥ kar kirapaa keene ghar gole | In His Mercy, He has made me the slave of His home. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਹਦ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ anahad run jhunakaar sehaj dhun saachee kaar kamaaee he |12| The unstruck celestial sound current resounds and vibrates, when one performs acts of true service. ||12|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨਿ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ man parateet banee prabh teree | O God, I have enshrined faith in You within my mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥ binas gee haumai mat meree | My egotistical intellect has been driven out. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਭ ਸੁਹਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ angeekaar keea prabh apanai jag meh sobh suhaaee he |13| God has made me His own, and now I have a glorious reputation in this world. ||13|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥ jai jai kaar japahu jagadeesai | Proclaim His Glorious Victory, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਈਸੈ ॥ bal bal jaaee prabh apune eesai | I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to my Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਏਕਾ ਜਗਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ tis bin doojaa avar na deesai ekaa jagat sabaaee he |14| I do not see any other except Him. The One Lord pervades the whole world. ||14|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ sat sat sat prabh jaataa | True, True, True is God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ gur parasaad sadaa man raataa | By Guru’s Grace, my mind is attuned to Him forever. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ simar simar jeeveh jan tere ekankaar samaaee he |15| Your humble servants live by meditating, meditating in remembrance on You, merging in You, O One Universal Creator. ||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ bhagat janaa kaa preetam piaaraa | The Dear Lord is the Beloved of His humble devotees. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭੈ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥ sabhai udhaaran khasam hamaaraa | My Lord and Master is the Savior of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਸਭ ਇਛਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥ simar naam punee sabh ichhaa jan naanak paij rakhaaee he |16|1| Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all desires are fulfilled. He has saved the honor of servant Nanak. ||16||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਗੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਲਪਟਾਣੀ ॥ sangee jogee naar lapattaanee | The body-bride is attached to the Yogi, the husband-soul. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੀ ॥ aurajh rahee rang ras maanee | She is involved with him, enjoying pleasure and delights. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਰਤ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਭਏ ਇਕਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ kirat sanjogee bhe ikatraa karate bhog bilaasaa he |1| As a consequence of past actions, they have come together, enjoying pleasurable play. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਧਨ ਤਤੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ jo pir karai su dhan tat maanai | Whatever the husband does, the bride willingly accepts. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨਹਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਰਖੈ ਸੰਗਾਨੈ ॥ pir dhaneh seegaar rakhai sangaanai | The husband adorns his bride, and keeps her with himself. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕਤ੍ਰ ਵਸਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਦੇ ਧਨਹਿ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ mil ekatr vaseh din raatee priau de dhaneh dilaasaa he |2| Joining together, they live in harmony day and night; the husband comforts his wife. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ dhan maagai priau bahu bidh dhaavai | When the bride asks, the husband runs around in all sorts of ways. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਆਣਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥ jo paavai so aan dikhaavai | Whatever he finds, he brings to show his bride. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਕਉ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਧਨ ਰਹਤੀ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ ek vasat kau pahuch na saakai dhan rahatee bhookh piaasaa he |3| But there is one thing he cannot reach, and so his bride remains hungry and thirsty. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਨ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਨਉ ਦੋਊ ਕਰ ਜੋਰੈ ॥ dhan karai binau doaoo kar jorai | With her palms pressed together, the bride offers her prayer, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੁ ਵਸਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਮੋਰੈ ॥ pria parades na jaahu vasahu ghar morai | “O my beloved, do not leave me and go to foreign lands; please stay here with me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਐਸਾ ਬਣਜੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ aisaa banaj karahu grih bheetar jit utarai bhookh piaasaa he |4| Do such business within our home, that my hunger and thirst may be relieved.” ||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜੁਗ ਸਾਧਾ ॥ sagale karam dharam jug saadhaa | All sorts of religious rituals are performed in this age, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਧਾ ॥ bin har ras sukh til nahee laadhaa | but without the sublime essence of the Lord, not an iota of peace is found. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਸੰਗੇ ਤਉ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ bhee kripaa naanak satasange tau dhan pir anand ulaasaa he |5| When the Lord becomes Merciful, O Nanak, then in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the bride and the husband enjoy ecstasy and bliss. ||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
