ਏ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਚੇਤਿ ਤੂ ਮਨਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ e man har jeeo chet too manahu taj vikaar | O my mind, remember the Dear Lord, and abandon the corruption of your mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਚਿ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur kai sabad dhiaae too sach lagee piaar |1| rahaau | Meditate on the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; focus lovingly on the Truth. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਐਥੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਕਿਥਾਊ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ aithai naavahu bhuliaa fir hath kithaaoo na paae | One who forgets the Name in this world, shall not find any place of rest anywhere else. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋਨੀ ਸਭਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ jonee sabh bhavaaeean bisattaa maeh samaae |2| He shall wander in all sorts of reincarnations, and rot away in manure. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥ vaddabhaagee gur paaeaa poorab likhiaa maae | By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, according to my pre-ordained destiny, O my mother. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ anadin sachee bhagat kar sachaa le milaae |3| Night and day, I practice true devotional worship; I am united with the True Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ aape srisatt sabh saajeean aape nadar karee | He Himself fashioned the entire universe; He Himself bestows His Glance of Grace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥੨॥ naanak naam vaddiaaeea jai bhaavai tai dee |4|2| O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is glorious and great; as He pleases, He bestows His Blessings. ||4||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਬਖਸਾਇ ਜੀਉ ਅਬ ਤੂ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ pichhale gunah bakhasaae jeeo ab too maarag paae | Please forgive my past mistakes, O my Dear Lord; now, please place me on the Path. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥ har kee charanee laag rahaa vichahu aap gavaae |1| I remain attached to the Lord’s Feet, and eradicate self-conceit from within. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sadaa har charanee laag rahaa ik man ekai bhaae |1| rahaau | Remain attached forever to the Lord’s Feet, single-mindedly, with love for the One Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਥੇਹੁ ਨ ਥਾਉ ॥ naa mai jaat na pat hai naa mai thehu na thaau | I have no social status or honor; I have no place or home. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥੨॥ sabad bhed bhram kattiaa gur naam deea samajhaae |2| Pierced through by the Word of the Shabad, my doubts have been cut away. The Guru has inspired me to understand the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ eihu man laalach karadaa firai laalach laagaa jaae | This mind wanders around, driven by greed, totally attached to greed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਧੰਧੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੩॥ dhandhai koorr viaapiaa jam pur chottaa khaae |3| He is engrossed in false pursuits; he shall endure beatings in the City of Death. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ naanak sabh kichh aape aap hai doojaa naahee koe | O Nanak, God Himself Himself is all-in-all. There is no other at all. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਓਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥ bhagat khajaanaa bakhasion guramukhaa sukh hoe |4|3| He bestows the treasure of devotional worship, and the Gurmukhs abide in peace. ||4||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਟੋਲਿ ਲਹੁ ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ sach rate se ttol lahu se virale sansaar | Seek and find those who are imbued with Truth; they are so rare in this world. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ tin miliaa mukh ujalaa jap naam muraar |1| Meeting with them, one’s face becomes radiant and bright, chanting the Name of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਾਬਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ baabaa saachaa saahib ridai samaal | O Baba, contemplate and cherish the True Lord and Master within your heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਭਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ satigur apanaa puchh dekh lehu vakhar bhaal |1| rahaau | Seek out and see, and ask your True Guru, and obtain the true commodity. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਭ ਸੇਵਦੀ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ eik sachaa sabh sevadee dhur bhaag milaavaa hoe | All serve the One True Lord; through pre-ordained destiny, they meet Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ guramukh mile se na vichhurreh paaveh sach soe |2| The Gurmukhs merge with Him, and will not be separated from Him again; they attain the True Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥ eik bhagatee saar na jaananee manamukh bharam bhulaae | Some do not appreciate the value of devotional worship; the self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਓਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ onaa vich aap varatadaa karanaa kichhoo na jaae |3| They are fillled with self-conceit; they cannot accomplish anything. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਖਲੇ ਕੀਚੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ jis naal jor na chalee khale keechai aradaas | Stand and offer your prayer, to the One who cannot be moved by force. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੪॥ naanak guramukh naam man vasai taa sun kare saabaas |4|4| O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within the mind of the Gurmukh; hearing his prayer, the Lord applauds him. ||4||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਾਰੂ ਤੇ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਮਨੂਰਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ maaroo te seetal kare manoorahu kanchan hoe | He transforms the burning desert into a cool oasis; he transmutes rusted iron into gold. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ so saachaa saalaaheeai tis jevadd avar na koe |1| So praise the True Lord; there is none other as great as He is. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥ mere man anadin dhiaae har naau | O my mind, night and day, meditate on the Lord’s Name. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਤੂ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ satigur kai bachan araadh too anadin gun gaau |1| rahaau | Contemplate the Word of the Guru’s Teachings, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥ guramukh eko jaaneeai jaa satigur dee bujhaae | As Gurmukh, one comes to know the One Lord, when the True Guru instructs him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਦੂ ਏਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ so satigur saalaaheeai jidoo eeh sojhee paae |2| Praise the True Guru, who imparts this understanding. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਨਿ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ satigur chhodd doojai lage kiaa karan agai jaae | Those who forsake the True Guru, and attach themselves to duality - what will they do when they go to the world hereafter? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ jam pur badhe maareeeh bahutee milai sajaae |3| Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they will be beaten. They will be punished severely. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
