ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ maalee gaurraa mahalaa 4 | Maalee Gauraa, Fourth Mehl: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥ sabh sidh saadhik mun janaa man bhaavanee har dhiaaeo | All the Siddhas, seekers and silent sages, with their minds full of love, meditate on the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਪਰੰਪਰੋ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਖਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aparanparo paarabraham suaamee har alakh guroo lakhaaeo |1| rahaau | The Supreme Lord God, my Lord and Master, is limitless; the Guru has inspired me to know the unknowable Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਮਧਿਮ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਓ ॥ ham neech madhim karam kee nahee chetio har raaeo | I am low, and I commit evil actions; I have not remembered my Sovereign Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਮੇਲਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖਿਨੁ ਬੰਧ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ har aan melio satiguroo khin bandh mukat karaaeo |1| The Lord has led me to meet the True Guru; in an instant, He liberated me from bondage. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮਸਤਕੇ ਧੁਰਿ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਓ ॥ prabh masatake dhur leekhiaa guramatee har liv laaeo | Such is the destiny God wrote on my forehead; following the Guru’s Teachings, I enshrine love for the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੨॥ panch sabad daragah baajiaa har milio mangal gaaeo |2| The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, vibrate and resound in the Court of the Lord; meeting the Lord, I sing the songs of joy. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਇਓ ॥ patit paavan naam narahar mandabhaageean nahee bhaaeo | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Purifier of sinners; the unfortunate wretches do not like this. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੇ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਗਾਲੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਲੋਨੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਗਲਾਇਓ ॥੩॥ te garabh jonee gaaleeeh jiau lon jaleh galaaeo |3| They rot away in the womb of reincarnation; they fall apart like salt in water. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਮਨੁ ਮੈ ਲਾਇਓ ॥ mat dehi har prabh agam tthaakur gur charan man mai laaeo | Please bless me with such understanding, O Inaccessible Lord God, my Lord and Master, that my mind may remain attached to the Guru’s feet. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਹਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੩॥ har raam naamai rhau laago jan naanak naam samaaeo |4|3| Servant Nanak remains attached to the Name of the Lord; he is merged in the Naam. ||4||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kamal pragaas bheaa gur paaeaa har japio bhram bhau bhaagaa |1| rahaau | My heart-lotus has blossomed forth, and I have found the Guru. Meditating on the Lord, my doubts and fears have run away. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਾਗੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੀਅਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੋਇਓ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥ bhai bhaae bhagat laago meraa heearaa man soeo guramat jaagaa | In the Fear of God, my heart is committed in loving devotion to Him; following the Guru’s Teachings, my sleeping mind has awakened. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਖੀਨ ਭਏ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ kilabikh kheen bhe saant aaee har ur dhaario vaddabhaagaa |1| All my sins have been erased, and I have found peace and tranquility; I have enshrined the Lord within my heart, by great good fortune. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭੁ ਹੈ ਕਚੂਆ ਜਿਉ ਕੁਸਮ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਗਾ ॥ manamukh rang kasunbh hai kachooaa jiau kusam chaar din chaagaa | The self-willed manmukh is like the false color of the safflower, which fades away; its color lasts for only a few days. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ਡੰਡੁ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੨॥ khin meh binas jaae parataapai ddandd dharam raae kaa laagaa |2| He perishes in an instant; he is tormented, and punished by the Righteous Judge of Dharma. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਅਤਿ ਗੂੜੀ ਜਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠ ਬਹੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ satasangat preet saadh at goorree jiau rang majeetth bahu laagaa | The Lord’s Love, found in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, is absolutely permanent, and colorfast. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਪਰੁ ਚੀਰ ਬਹੁ ਫਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਲਹੈ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥੩॥ kaaeaa kaapar cheer bahu faare har rang na lahai sabhaagaa |3| The cloth of the body may be torn to shreds, but still, this beautiful color of the Lord’s Love does not fade away. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਚਾਰ੍ਹਿਓ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਰਾਂਗਾ ॥ har chaarhio rang milai gur sobhaa har rang chaloolai raangaa | Meeting with the Blessed Guru, one is dyed in the color of the Lord’s Love, imbued with this deep crimson color. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਖਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨੀ ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੪॥ jan naanak tin ke charan pakhaarai jo har charanee jan laagaa |4|4| Servant Nanak washes the feet of that humble being, who is attached to the feet of the Lord. ||4||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਲੀਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ meraa man tan leen bheaa raam naamai mat guramat raam rasaalaa |1| rahaau | My mind and body are merged in the Lord’s Name, and through the Guru’s Teachings, my intellect is imbued with the Lord, the source of nectar. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਮਾਲਾ ॥ guramat naam dhiaaeeai har har man japeeai har japamaalaa | Follow the Guru’s Teachings, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Chant, and meditate, on the beads of the mala of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨੑ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਬਨਮਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ jina kai masatak leekhiaa har miliaa har banamaalaa |1| Those who have such destiny inscribed upon their foreheads, meet with the Lord, adorned with garlands of flowers. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨੑ ਚੂਕੇ ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥ jina har naam dhiaaeaa tina chooke sarab janjaalaa | Those who meditate on the Name of the Lord - all their entanglements are ended. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨੑ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥੨॥ tina jam nerr na aavee gur raakhe har rakhavaalaa |2| The Messenger of Death does not even approach them; the Guru, the Savior Lord, saves them. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੂ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥ ham baarik kichhoo na jaanahoo har maat pitaa pratipaalaa | I am a child; I know nothing at all. The Lord cherishes me, as my mother and father. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਰੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਤ ਮੇਲਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੩॥ kar maaeaa agan nit melate gur raakhe deen deaalaa |3| I continually put my hands into the fire of Maya, but the Guru saves me; He is merciful to the meek. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਹੁ ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਭ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਹਰਿ ਜਸਿ ਜਾਲਾ ॥ bahu maile niramal hoeaa sabh kilabikh har jas jaalaa | I was filthy, but I have become immaculate. Singing the Lord’s Praises, all sins have been burnt to ashes. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੫॥ man anad bheaa gur paaeaa jan naanak sabad nihaalaa |4|5| My mind is in esctasy, having found the Guru; servant Nanak is enraptured through the Word of the Shabad. ||4||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
