ਇਕ ਓਟ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੀਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਸ ਇਕ ਧਰਣੀਧਰੈ ॥ eik ott keejai jeeo deejai aas ik dharaneedharai | Seek the Support of the One Lord, and surrender your soul to Him; place your hopes only in the Sustainer of the World. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਰੈ ॥ saadhasange har naam range sansaar saagar sabh tarai | Those who are imbued with the Lord’s Name, in the Saadh Sangat, cross over the terrifying world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਛੂਟੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਦਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ janam maran bikaar chhootte fir na laagai daag jeeo | The corrupting sins of birth and death are eradicated, and no stain ever sticks to them again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਥਿਰੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ bal jaae naanak purakh pooran thir jaa kaa sohaag jeeo |3| Nanak is a sacrifice to the Perfect Primal Lord; His marriage is eternal. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਧਰਮ ਅਰਥ ਅਰੁ ਕਾਮ ਮੋਖ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਥ ॥ dharam arath ar kaam mokh mukat padaarath naath | Righteous faith, wealth, fulfilment of desires and salvation; the Lord bestows these four blessings. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਥ ॥੧॥ sagal manorath pooriaa naanak likhiaa maath |1| One who has such pre-ordained destiny upon his forehead, O Nanak, has all his desires fulfilled. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਗਲ ਇਛ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਰਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ sagal ichh meree puneea miliaa niranjan raae jeeo | All my desires are fulfilled, meeting with my Immaculate, Sovereign Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ anad bheaa vaddabhaageeho grihi pragatte prabh aae jeeo | I am in ecstasy, O very fortunate ones; the Dear Lord has become manifest in my own home. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਲਾਲ ਆਏ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਏ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਿਆ ਗਣਾ ॥ grihi laal aae purab kamaae taa kee upamaa kiaa ganaa | My Beloved has come to my home, because of my past actions; how can I count His Glories? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਵਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਭਣਾ ॥ beant pooran sukh sehaj daataa kavan rasanaa gun bhanaa | The Lord, the Giver of peace and intuition, is infinite and perfect; with what tongue can I describe His Glorious Virtues? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ aape milaae geh kantth laae tis binaa nahee jaae jeeo | He hugs me close in His embrace, and merges me into Himself; there is no place of rest other than Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪॥ bal jaae naanak sadaa karate sabh meh rahiaa samaae jeeo |4|4| Nanak is forever a sacrifice to the Creator, who is contained in, and permeating all. ||4||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਖੀ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ satigur tum sev sakhee man chindiarraa fal paavahu | Serve your True Guru, O my companions, and you shall obtain the fruits of your mind’s desires. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ aap nivaar har har bhjau naanak prabh bharapoor |1| Cast out your self-conceit, and vibrate, meditate, on the Lord, Har, Har. O Nanak, God is all-pervading. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟਣ ਭੈ ਹਰਣ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ kilavikh kaattan bhai haran sukh saagar har raae | He is the Eradicator of sins, the Destroyer of fear, the Ocean of peace, the Sovereign Lord King. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੀਤ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨॥ deen deaal dukh bhanjano naanak neet dhiaae |2| Merciful to the meek, the Destroyer of pain: O Nanak, always meditate on Him. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥ jas gaavahu vaddabhaageeho kar kirapaa bhagavant jeeo | Sing His Praises, O very fortunate ones, and the Dear Lord God shall bless you with His Mercy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰੁਤੀ ਮਾਹ ਮੂਰਤ ਘੜੀ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰਤ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥ rutee maah moorat gharree gun ucharat sobhaavant jeeo | Blessed and auspicious is that season, that month, that moment, that hour, when you chant the Lord’s Glorious Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਧੰਨਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ gun rang raate dhan te jan jinee ik man dhiaaeaa | Blessed are those humble beings, who are imbued with love for His Praises, and who meditate single-mindedly on Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ safal janam bheaa tin kaa jinee so prabh paaeaa | Their lives become fruitful, and they find that Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਨ ਤੁਲਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਪਾ ਹੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥ pun daan na tul kiriaa har sarab paapaa hant jeeo | Donations to charities and religious rituals are not equal to meditation on the Lord, who destroys all sins. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਰਹੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ binavant naanak simar jeevaa janam maran rahant jeeo |1| Prays Nanak, meditating in remembrance on Him, I live; birth and death are finished for me. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਥਨੀ ਸਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ kathanee saa tudh bhaavasee naanak naam adhaar |1| O Nanak, that sermon alone is pleasing to You, Lord, which inspires us to take the Support of the Name. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਪਰਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ sant saran saajan parahu suaamee simar anant | Seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, O friends; meditate in remembrance on your infinite Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੂਕੇ ਤੇ ਹਰਿਆ ਥੀਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੨॥ sooke te hariaa theea naanak jap bhagavant |2| The dried branch shall blossom forth in its greenery again, O Nanak, meditating on the Lord God. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰੁਤਿ ਸਰਸ ਬਸੰਤ ਮਾਹ ਚੇਤੁ ਵੈਸਾਖ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ rut saras basant maah chet vaisaakh sukh maas jeeo | The season of spring is delightful; the months of Chayt and Baisaakhi are the most pleasant months. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਹੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ har jeeo naahu miliaa mauliaa man tan saas jeeo | I have obtained the Dear Lord as my Husband, and my mind, body and breath have blossomed forth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਰਿ ਨਾਹੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਸਖੀਏ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਿਆ ॥ ghar naahu nihachal anad sakhee charan kamal prafuliaa | The eternal, unchanging Lord has come into my home as my Husband, O my companions; dwelling upon His lotus feet, I blossom forth in bliss. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
