ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨਾ ਖਿਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥ har har dhiaae manaa khin na visaareeai | Meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, O mind; don’t forget Him, even for an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀਐ ॥ raam raamaa raam ramaa kantth ur dhaareeai | Enshrine the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam, Raam, within your heart and throat. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ॥ aur dhaar har har purakh pooran paarabraham niranjano | Enshrine within your heart the Primal Lord, Har, Har, the all-pervading, supreme, immaculate Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਪਾਪ ਹਰਤਾ ਦੁਸਹ ਦੁਖ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨੋ ॥ bhai door karataa paap harataa dusah dukh bhav khanddano | He sends fear far away; He is the Destroyer of sin; He eradicates the unbearable pains of the terrifying world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਗਦੀਸ ਈਸ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਮਾਧੋ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਐ ॥ jagadees ees guopaal maadho gun govind veechaareeai | Contemplate the Lord of the World, the Cherisher of the World, the Lord, the Virtuous Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ binavant naanak mil sang saadhoo dinas rain chitaareeai |1| Prays Nanak, joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, remember the Lord, day and night. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਸਰਾ ॥ charan kamal aadhaar jan kaa aasaraa | His lotus feet are the support and anchor of His humble servants. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਲੁ ਮਿਲਖ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਨੰਤ ਧਰਾ ॥ maal milakh bhanddaar naam anant dharaa | He takes the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord, as his wealth, property and treasure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਏਕ ਨਰਾਇਣਾ ॥ naam narahar nidhaan jin kai ras bhog ek naraaeinaa | Those who have the treasure of the Lord’s Name, enjoy the taste of the One Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਸ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਅਨੰਤ ਬੀਠਲ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਇਣਾ ॥ ras roop rang anant beetthal saas saas dhiaaeinaa | They meditate on the Infinite Lord with each and every breath, as their pleasure, joy and beauty. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਹਰਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਹਰਾ ॥ kilavikh haranaa naam punahacharanaa naam jam kee traas haraa | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Destroyer of sins, the only deed of redemption. The Naam drives out the fear of the Messenger of Death. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਸਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਹ ਆਸਰਾ ॥੨॥ binavant naanak raas jan kee charan kamalah aasaraa |2| Prays Nanak, the support of His lotus feet is the capital of His humble servant. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਈ ॥ gun beant suaamee tere koe na jaanee | Your Glorious Virtues are endless, O my Lord and Master; no one knows them all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਖਿ ਚਲਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੁਣਿ ਭਗਤ ਵਖਾਨਈ ॥ dekh chalat deaal sun bhagat vakhaanee | Seeing and hearing of Your wondrous plays, O Merciful Lord, Your devotees narrate them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਪੁਰਖਪਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਾ ॥ jeea jant sabh tujh dhiaaveh purakhapat paramesaraa | All beings and creatures meditate on You, O Primal Transcendent Lord, Master of men. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਏਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਾ ॥ sarab jaachik ek daataa karunaa mai jagadeesaraa | All beings are beggars; You are the One Giver, O Lord of the Universe, Embodiment of mercy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਮਾਨਈ ॥ saadhoo sant sujaan soee jiseh prabh jee maanee | He alone is holy, a Saint, a truly wise person, who is accepted by the Dear Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੋਇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਪਛਾਨਈ ॥੩॥ binavant naanak karahu kirapaa soe tujheh pachhaanee |3| Prays Nanak, they alone realize You, unto whom You show Mercy. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆ ॥ mohi niragun anaath saranee aaeaa | I am unworthy and without any master; I seek Your Sanctuary, Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥ bal bal bal guradev jin naam drirraaeaa | I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Divine Guru, who has implanted the Naam within me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਸਰਬ ਇਛਾ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥ gur naam deea kusal theea sarab ichhaa puneea | The Guru blessed me with the Naam; happiness came, and all my desires were fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲਨੇ ਬੁਝਾਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ਮਿਲੇ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥ jalane bujhaaee saant aaee mile chiree vichhuniaa | The fire of desire has been quenched, and peace and tranquility have come; after such a long separation, I have met my Lord again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਚੇ ਮਹਾ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ aanand harakh sehaj saache mahaa mangal gun gaaeaa | I have found ecstasy, pleasure and true intuitive poise, singing the great glories, the song of bliss of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥ binavant naanak naam prabh kaa gur poore te paaeaa |4|2| Prays Nanak, I have obtained the Name of God from the Perfect Guru. ||4||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਗਾਈਐ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ॥ run jhuno sabad anaahad nit utth gaaeeai santan kai | Rise early each morning, and with the Saints, sing the melodious harmony, the unstruck sound current of the Shabad. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤਨ ਕੈ ॥ kilavikh sabh dokh binaasan har naam japeeai gur mantan kai | All sins and sufferings are erased, chanting the Lord’s Name, under Guru’s Instructions. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਜੈ ਅਮਿਉ ਪੀਜੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ॥ har naam leejai amiau peejai rain dinas araadheeai | Dwell upon the Lord’s Name, and drink in the Nectar; day and night, worship and adore Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋਗ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਲਗਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲਹ ਸਾਧੀਐ ॥ jog daan anek kiriaa lag charan kamalah saadheeai | The merits of Yoga, charity and religious rituals are obtained by grasping His lotus feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੋਹਨ ਦੂਖ ਸਗਲੇ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥ bhaau bhagat deaal mohan dookh sagale paraharai | Loving devotion to the merciful, enticing Lord takes away all pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਰਹਰੈ ॥੧॥ binavant naanak tarai saagar dhiaae suaamee naraharai |1| Prays Nanak, cross over the world-ocean, meditating on the Lord, your Lord and Master. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਪਾਏ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ anad mangal gur charanee laage paae sookh ghanere raam | Ecstasy, bliss and great happiness are obtained by grasping hold of the Guru’s feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੂਖ ਹਰਿਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ sukh nidhaan miliaa dookh hariaa kripaa kar prabh raakhiaa | Meeting with the treasure of peace, their pains are taken away; granting His Grace, God protects them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਾਖਿਆ ॥ har charan laagaa bhram bhau bhaagaa har naam rasanaa bhaakhiaa | Those who grasp the Lord’s feet - their fears and doubts run away, and they chant the Name of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਆਇਆ ॥ har ek chitavai prabh ek gaavai har ek drisattee aaeaa | He thinks of the One Lord, and he sings of the One God; he gazes upon the One Lord alone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
