ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜਿ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਈ ਰਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ satigur purakh ji boliaa gurasikhaa man lee rajaae jeeo | And as the True Guru, the Primal Lord spoke, and the Gursikhs obeyed His Will. - Baba Sundar
ਮੋਹਰੀ ਪੁਤੁ ਸਨਮੁਖੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੈ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ moharee put sanamukh hoeaa raamadaasai pairee paae jeeo | His son Mohri turned sunmukh, and become obedient to Him; he bowed, and touched Ram Das’ feet. - Baba Sundar
ਸਭ ਪਵੈ ਪੈਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਰੀ ਜਿਥੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਿਆ ॥ sabh pavai pairee satiguroo keree jithai guroo aap rakhiaa | Then, everyone bowed and touched the feet of Ram Das, into whom the Guru infused His essence. - Baba Sundar
ਕੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਬਖੀਲੀ ਨਿਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਣਿ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ ॥ koee kar bakheelee nivai naahee fir satiguroo aan nivaaeaa | And any that did not bow then because of envy - later, the True Guru brought them around to bow in humility. - Baba Sundar
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਦੀਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ਰਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ har gureh bhaanaa deeee vaddiaaee dhur likhiaa lekh rajaae jeeo | It pleased the Guru, the Lord, to bestow glorious greatness upon Him; such was the pre-ordained destiny of the Lord’s Will. - Baba Sundar
ਕਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥੧॥ kahai sundar sunahu santahu sabh jagat pairee paae jeeo |6|1| Says Sundar, listen, O Saints: all the world fell at His feet. ||6||1|| - Baba Sundar

ਸਾਜਨੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਜਨੜਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਖਲੋਇਅੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਜਨੜਾ ॥ saajanarraa meraa saajanarraa nikatt khaloeiarraa meraa saajanarraa | Friend, my Friend - standing so near to me is my Friend! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾਨੀਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੀਅੜਾ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਇਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੀਅੜਾ ॥ jaaneearraa har jaaneearraa nain aloeiarraa har jaaneearraa | Beloved, the Lord my Beloved - with my eyes, I have seen the Lord, my Beloved! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਇਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੋਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਗੂੜਾ ॥ nain aloeaa ghatt ghatt soeaa at amrit pria goorraa | With my eyes I have seen Him, sleeping upon the bed within each and every heart; my Beloved is the sweetest ambrosial nectar. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਲਿ ਹੋਵੰਦਾ ਲਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੰਦਾ ਸੁਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂੜਾ ॥ naal hovandaa leh na sakandaa suaau na jaanai moorraa | He is with all, but he cannot be found; the fool does not know His taste. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੋਛੀ ਬਾਤਾ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਭਰਮ ਧੜਾ ॥ maaeaa mad maataa hochhee baataa milan na jaaee bharam dharraa | Intoxicated with the wine of Maya, the mortal babbles on about trivial affairs; giving in to the illusion, he cannot meet the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਖੜਾ ॥੧॥ kahu naanak gur bin naahee soojhai har saajan sabh kai nikatt kharraa |1| Says Nanak, without the Guru, he cannot understand the Lord, the Friend who is standing near everyone. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ॥ gobindaa mere gobindaa praan adhaaraa mere gobindaa | God, my God - the Support of the breath of life is my God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਦਾਨ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥ kirapaalaa mere kirapaalaa daan daataaraa mere kirapaalaa | Merciful Lord, my Merciful Lord - the Giver of gifts is my Merciful Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਨ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋਹਨਿਆ ॥ daan daataaraa apar apaaraa ghatt ghatt antar sohaniaa | The Giver of gifts is infinite and unlimited; deep within each and every heart, He is so beautiful! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਕ ਦਾਸੀ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਬਲ ਪਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਲੈ ਮੋਹਨਿਆ ॥ eik daasee dhaaree sabal pasaaree jeea jant lai mohaniaa | He created Maya, His slave, so powerfully pervasive - she has enticed all beings and creatures. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਖੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ jis no raakhai so sach bhaakhai gur kaa sabad beechaaraa | One whom the Lord saves, chants the True Name, and contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥ kahu naanak jo prabh kau bhaanaa tis hee kau prabh piaaraa |2| Says Nanak, one who is pleasing to God - God is very dear to him. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਣੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਣੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਮਾਣੋ ॥ maano prabh maano mere prabh kaa maano | I take pride, I take pride in God; I take pride in my God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾਣੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੋ ॥ jaano prabh jaano suaamee sugharr sujaano | Wise, God is wise; my Lord and Master is all-wise, and all-knowing. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ਸਦ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ sugharr sujaanaa sad paradhaanaa amrit har kaa naamaa | All-wise and all-knowing, and forever supreme; the Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਾਖਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਣੇ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਭਾਗ ਮਥਾਨਾ ॥ chaakh aghaane saarigapaane jin kai bhaag mathaanaa | Those who have such pre-ordained destiny recorded upon their foreheads, taste it, and are satisfied with the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਮਾਣੋ ॥ tin hee paaeaa tineh dhiaaeaa sagal tisai kaa maano | They meditate on Him, and find Him; they place all their pride in Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਥਿਰੁ ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਚੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਦੀਬਾਣੋ ॥੩॥ kahu naanak thir takhat nivaasee sach tisai deebaano |3| Says Nanak, He is seated on His eternal throne; True is His royal court. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੰਗਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਗਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਮੰਗਲਾ ॥ mangalaa har mangalaa mere prabh kai suneeai mangalaa | The song of joy, the Lord’s song of joy; listen to the song of joy of my God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀਐ ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ॥ sohilarraa prabh sohilarraa anahad dhuneeai sohilarraa | The wedding song, God’s wedding song; the unstruck sound current of His wedding song resounds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਅਗਾਜੇ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥ anahad vaaje sabad agaaje nit nit jiseh vadhaaee | The unstruck sound current vibrates, and the Word of the Shabad resounds; there is continuous, continual rejoicing. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥ so prabh dhiaaeeai sabh kichh paaeeai marai na aavai jaaee | Meditating on that God, everything is obtained; He does not die, or come or go. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚੂਕੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਐ ॥ chookee piaasaa pooran aasaa guramukh mil niraguneeai | Thirst is quenched, and hopes are fulfilled; the Gurmukh meets with the absolute, unmanifest Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ॥੪॥੧॥ kahu naanak ghar prabh mere kai nit nit mangal suneeai |4|1| Says Nanak, in the Home of my God, the songs of joy are continuously, continually heard. ||4||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
