ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ek naam vasiaa ghatt antar poore kee vaddiaaee |1| rahaau | The One Name abides deep within my heart; such is the glorious greatness of the Perfect Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਦੇਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਬਾਈ ॥੨॥ aape karataa aape bhugataa dedaa rijak sabaaee |2| He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He Himself gives sustenance to all. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ jo kichh karanaa so kar rahiaa avar na karanaa jaaee |3| Whatever He wants to do, He is doing; no one else can do anything. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥ aape saaje srisatt upaae sir sir dhandhai laaee |4| He Himself fashions and creates the creation; He links each and every person to their task. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੫॥ tiseh sarevahu taa sukh paavahu satigur mel milaaee |5| If you serve Him, then you will find peace; the True Guru will unite you in His Union. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥੬॥ aapanaa aap aap upaae alakh na lakhanaa jaaee |6| The Lord Himself creates Himself; the Unseen Lord cannot be seen. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਆਪੇ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਈ ॥੭॥ aape maar jeevaale aape tis no til na tamaaee |7| He Himself kills, and brings back to life; He does not have even an iota of greed. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੮॥ eik daate ik mangate keete aape bhagat karaaee |8| Some are made givers, and some are made beggars; He Himself inspires us to devotional worship. ||8|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੯॥ se vaddabhaagee jinee eko jaataa sache rahe samaaee |9| Those who know the One Lord are very fortunate; they remain absorbed in the True Lord. ||9|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥ aap saroop siaanaa aape keemat kehan na jaaee |10| He Himself is beautiful, He Himself is wise and clever; His worth cannot be expressed. ||10|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੧॥ aape dukh sukh paae antar aape bharam bhulaaee |11| He Himself infuses pain and pleasure; He Himself makes them wander around in doubt. ||11|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਨਿਗੁਰੀ ਅੰਧ ਫਿਰੈ ਲੋਕਾਈ ॥੧੨॥ vaddaa daataa guramukh jaataa niguree andh firai lokaaee |12| The Great Giver is revealed to the Gurmukh; without the Guru, the world wanders in darkness. ||12|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੩॥ jinee chaakhiaa tinaa saad aaeaa satigur boojh bujhaaee |13| Those who taste, enjoy the flavor; the True Guru imparts this understanding. ||13|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਨਾ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧੪॥ eikanaa naavahu aap bhulaae ikanaa guramukh dee bujhaaee |14| Some, the Lord causes to forget and lose the Name; others become Gurmukh, and are granted this understanding. ||14|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧੫॥ sadaa sadaa saalaahihu santahu tis dee vaddee vaddiaaee |15| Forever and ever, praise the Lord, O Saints; how glorious is His greatness! ||15|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੬॥ tis bin avar na koee raajaa kar tapaavas banat banaaee |16| There is no other King except Him; He administers justice, as He has made it. ||16|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਿਆਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਸਦ ਸਾਚਾ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੧੭॥ niaau tisai kaa hai sad saachaa virale hukam manaaee |17| His justice is always True; how rare are those who accept His Command. ||17|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੮॥ tis no praanee sadaa dhiaavahu jin guramukh banat banaaee |18| O mortal, meditate forever on the Lord, who has made the Gurmukh in His making. ||18|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੀਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੧੯॥ satigur bhettai so jan seejhai jis hiradai naam vasaaee |19| That humble being who meets with the True Guru is fulfilled; the Naam abides in his heart. ||19|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥੨੦॥ sachaa aap sadaa hai saachaa baanee sabad sunaaee |20| The True Lord is Himself forever True; He announces His Bani, the Word of His Shabad. ||20|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਥਾਈ ॥੨੧॥੫॥੧੪॥ naanak sun vekh rahiaa visamaad meraa prabh raviaa srab thaaee |21|5|14| Nanak is wonderstruck, hearing and seeing His Lord; my God is all-pervading, everywhere. ||21||5||14|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਨਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥ kinahee keea paravirat pasaaraa | Some make a big show of their worldly influence. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਪੂਜਾ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥ kinahee keea poojaa bisathaaraa | Some make a big show of devotional worship. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਨਿਵਲ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਸਾਧੇ ॥ kinahee nival bhueiangam saadhe | Some practice inner cleansing teahniques, and control the breath through Kundalini Yoga. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ॥੧॥ mohi deen har har aaraadhe |1| I am meek; I worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ teraa bharosaa piaare | I place my faith in You alone, O Beloved Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਨ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਵੇਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aan na jaanaa vesaa |1| rahaau | I do not know any other way. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਵਣ ਖੰਡਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ kinahee grihu taj van khandd paaeaa | Some abandon their homes, and live in the forests. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਮੋਨਿ ਅਉਧੂਤੁ ਸਦਾਇਆ ॥ kinahee mon aaudhoot sadaaeaa | Some put themselves on silence, and call themselves hermits. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੋਈ ਕਹਤਉ ਅਨੰਨਿ ਭਗਉਤੀ ॥ koee kahtau anan bhgautee | Some claim that they are devotees of the One Lord alone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਓਟ ਲੀਤੀ ॥੨॥ mohi deen har har ott leetee |2| I am meek; I seek the shelter and support of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਕਹਿਆ ਹਉ ਤੀਰਥ ਵਾਸੀ ॥ kinahee kahiaa hau teerath vaasee | Some say that they live at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੋਈ ਅੰਨੁ ਤਜਿ ਭਇਆ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥ koee an taj bheaa udaasee | Some refuse food and become Udaasis, shaven-headed renunciates. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਭਵਨੁ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਕਰਿਆ ॥ kinahee bhavan sabh dharatee kariaa | Some have wandered all across the earth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੩॥ mohi deen har har dar pariaa |3| I am meek; I have fallen at the door of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
