ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ nihachal aasan besumaar |2| They obtain a permanent seat in the infinite. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਡਿਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ ddig na ddolai katahoo na dhaavai | No one falls there, or wavers, or goes anywhere. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਇਹੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ gur prasaad ko ihu mehal paavai | By Guru’s Grace, some find this mansion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾਲ ॥ bhram bhai moh na maaeaa jaal | They are not touched by doubt, fear, attachment or the traps of Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੩॥ sun samaadh prabhoo kirapaal |3| They enter the deepest state of Samaadhi, through the kind mercy of God. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥ taa kaa ant na paaraavaar | He has no end or limitation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥ aape gupat aape paasaar | He Himself is unmanifest, and He Himself is manifest. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਦੁ ॥ jaa kai antar har har suaad | One who enjoys the taste of the Lord, Har, Har, deep within himself, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੦॥ kehan na jaaee naanak bisamaad |4|9|20| O Nanak, his wondrous state cannot be described. ||4||9||20|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ bhettat sang paarabraham chit aaeaa | Meeting with the Sangat, the Congregation, the Supreme Lord God has come into my consciousness. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਤ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ sangat karat santokh man paaeaa | In the Sangat, my mind has found contentment. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਨ ਮਾਥਾ ਮੇਰੋ ਪਉਤ ॥ santah charan maathaa mero paut | I touch my forehead to the feet of the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸੰਤਹ ਡੰਡਉਤ ॥੧॥ anik baar santah ddanddaut |1| Countless times, I humbly bow to the Saints. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ eihu man santan kai balihaaree | This mind is a sacrifice to the Saints; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jaa kee ott gahee sukh paaeaa raakhe kirapaa dhaaree |1| rahaau | holding tight to their support, I have found peace, and in their mercy, they have protected me. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਣ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਵਾ ॥ santah charan dhoe dhoe peevaa | I wash the feet of the Saints, and drink in that water. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਹ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ॥ santah daras pekh pekh jeevaa | Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Saints’ Darshan, I live. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਹ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ॥ santah kee merai man aas | My mind rests its hopes in the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ sant hamaaree niramal raas |2| The Saints are my immaculate wealth. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਪੜਦਾ ॥ sant hamaaraa raakhiaa parradaa | The Saints have covered my faults. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਕੜਦਾ ॥ sant prasaad mohi kabahoo na karradaa | By the Grace of the Saints, I am no longer tormented. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗੁ ਦੀਆ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥ santah sang deea kirapaal | The Merciful Lord has blessed me with the Saints’ Congregation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੩॥ sant sahaaee bhe deaal |3| The Compassionate Saints have become my help and support. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ surat mat budh paragaas | My consciousness, intellect and wisdom have been enlightened. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ gahir ganbheer apaar gunataas | The Lord is profound, unfathomable, infinite, the treasure of virtue. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ jeea jant sagale pratipaal | He cherishes all beings and creatures. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਹ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥ naanak santah dekh nihaal |4|10|21| Nanak is enraptured, seeing the Saints. ||4||10||21|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥ terai kaaj na grihu raaj maal | Your home, power and wealth will be of no use to you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ॥ terai kaaj na bikhai janjaal | Your corrupt worldly entanglements will be of no use to you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਸਟ ਮੀਤ ਜਾਣੁ ਸਭ ਛਲੈ ॥ eisatt meet jaan sabh chhalai | Know that all your dear friends are fake. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਲੈ ॥੧॥ har har naam sang terai chalai |1| Only the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, will go along with you. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਲੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਹੈ ॥ raam naam gun gaae le meetaa har simarat teree laaj rahai | Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name, O friend; remembering the Lord in meditation, your honor shall be saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮੁ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har simarat jam kachh na kahai |1| rahaau | Remembering the Lord in meditation, the Messenger of Death will not touch you. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਰਾਰਥ ਕਾਮ ॥ bin har sagal niraarath kaam | Without the Lord, all pursuits are useless. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਦਾਮ ॥ sueinaa rupaa maattee daam | Gold, silver and wealth are just dust. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਾਪਿ ਮਨ ਸੁਖਾ ॥ gur kaa sabad jaap man sukhaa | Chanting the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, your mind shall be at peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੇਰੋ ਊਜਲ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੨॥ eehaa aoohaa tero aoojal mukhaa |2| Here and hereafter, your face shall be radiant and bright. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇਰੇ ॥ kar kar thaake vadde vaddere | Even the greatest of the great worked and worked until they were exhausted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਨ ਕੀਏ ਕਾਜ ਮਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ kin hee na kee kaaj maaeaa poore | None of them ever accomplished the tasks of Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ har har naam japai jan koe | Any humble being who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ taa kee aasaa pooran hoe |3| will have all his hopes fulfilled. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ har bhagatan ko naam adhaar | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the anchor and support of the Lord’s devotees. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤੀ ਜੀਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ santee jeetaa janam apaar | The Saints are victorious in this priceless human life. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ har sant kare soee paravaan | Whatever the Lord’s Saint does, is approved and accepted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੨॥ naanak daas taa kai kurabaan |4|11|22| Slave Nanak is a sacrifice to him. ||4||11||22|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਿੰਚਹਿ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲੋਗ ॥ sincheh darab dehi dukh log | You gather wealth by exploiting people. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਅਵਰਾ ਜੋਗ ॥ terai kaaj na avaraa jog | It is of no use to you; it was meant for others. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਅੰਧ ॥ kar ahankaar hoe varateh andh | You practice egotism, and act like a blind man. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਤੂ ਆਗੈ ਬੰਧ ॥੧॥ jam kee jevarree too aagai bandh |1| In the world hereafter, you shall be tied to the leash of the Messenger of Death. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛਾਡਿ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਮੂੜੇ ॥ chhaadd viddaanee taat moorre | Give up your envy of others, you fool! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਈਹਾ ਬਸਨਾ ਰਾਤਿ ਮੂੜੇ ॥ eehaa basanaa raat moorre | You only live here for a night, you fool! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਤੈ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਨਾ ॥ maaeaa ke maate tai utth chalanaa | You are intoxicated with Maya, but you must soon arise and depart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਤੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ raach rahio too sang supanaa |1| rahaau | You are totally involved in the dream. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਾਲ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਅੰਧ ॥ baal bivasathaa baarik andh | In his childhood, the child is blind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਰਿ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ॥ bhar joban laagaa duragandh | In the fullness of youth, he is involved in foul-smelling sins. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
