ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਾਇ ॥ raam jan guramat raam bolaae | O humble servant of the Lord, follow the Guru’s Teachings, and chant the Name of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jo jo sunai kahai so mukataa raam japat sohaae |1| rahaau | Whoever hears and speaks it is liberated; chanting the Lord’s Name, one is embellished with beauty. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੇ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਭੇਟਾਇ ॥ je vaddabhaag hoveh mukh masatak har raam janaa bhettaae | If someone has supremely high destiny written on his forehead, the Lord leads him to meet the humble servants of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ darasan sant dehu kar kirapaa sabh daalad dukh leh jaae |2| Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of the Saints’ Darshan, which shall rid me of all poverty and pain. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਇ ॥ har ke log raam jan neeke bhaagaheen na sukhaae | The Lord’s people are good and sublime; the unfortunate ones do not like them at all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਹਿ ਜਨ ਊਚੇ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਡੰਸੁ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੩॥ jiau jiau raam kaheh jan aooche nar nindak ddans lagaae |3| The more the Lord’s exalted servants speak of Him, the more the slanderers attack and sting them. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਜਿਨ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਸਖਾਇ ॥ dhrig dhrig nar nindak jin jan nahee bhaae har ke sakhaa sakhaae | Cursed, cursed are the slanderers who do not like the humble, the friends and companions of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚੋਰ ਵੇਮੁਖ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥੪॥ se har ke chor vemukh mukh kaale jin gur kee paij na bhaae |4| Those who do not like the honor and glory of the Guru are faithless, black-faced thieves, who have turned their backs on the Lord. ||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ deaa deaa kar raakhahu har jeeo ham deen teree saranaae | Have mercy, have mercy, please save me, Dear Lord. I am meek and humble - I seek Your protection. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥ ham baarik tum pitaa prabh mere jan naanak bakhas milaae |5|2| I am Your child, and You are my father, God. Please forgive servant Nanak and merge him with Yourself. ||5||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਤਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਵਤਾਵੈ ॥ har ke sakhaa saadh jan neeke tin aoopar haath vataavai | The friends of the Lord, the humble, Holy Saints are sublime; the Lord spreads out His protecting hands above them. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੇਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ guramukh saadh seee prabh bhaae kar kirapaa aap milaavai |1| The Gurmukhs are the Holy Saints, pleasing to God; in His mercy, He blends them with Himself. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ raam mo kau har jan mel man bhaavai | O Lord, my mind longs to meet with the humble servants of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਮਿਉ ਅਮਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ amiau amiau har ras hai meetthaa mil sant janaa mukh paavai |1| rahaau | The sweet, subtle essence of the Lord is immortalizing ambrosia. Meeting the Saints, I drink it in. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਊਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ har ke log raam jan aootam mil aootam padavee paavai | The Lord’s people are the most lofty and exalted. Meeting with them, the most exalted status is obtained. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਹੋਵਤ ਚੇਰੀ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਖੁਸੀ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ ham hovat cheree daas daasan kee meraa tthaakur khusee karaavai |2| I am the slave of the slave of the Lord’s slaves; my Lord and Master is pleased with me. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੇਵਕ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਰਿਦ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥ sevak jan seveh se vaddabhaagee rid man tan preet lagaavai | The humble servant serves; one who enshrines love for the Lord in his heart, mind and body is very fortunate. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਤਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਕੂੜੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ bin preetee kareh bahu baataa koorr bol koorro fal paavai |3| One who talks too much without love, speaks falsely, and obtains only false rewards. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਗੀ ਲੇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ mo kau dhaar kripaa jagajeevan daate har sant pagee le paavai | Take pity on me, O Lord of the World, O Great Giver; let me fall at the feet of the Saints. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਕਾਟਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਬਾਢਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤੁ ਚੜਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੪॥੩॥ hau kaattau kaatt baadt sir raakhau jit naanak sant charr aavai |4|3| I would cut off my head, and cut it into pieces, O Nanak, and set it down for the Saints to walk upon. ||4||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਜੇ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਵਡ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਦਿਆ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ je vaddabhaag hoveh vadd mere jan miladiaa dtil na laaeeai | If I am blessed with supreme high destiny, I will meet the humble servants of the Lord, without delay. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੁੰਟ ਸਰ ਨੀਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਨਾਵਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ har jan amrit kuntt sar neeke vaddabhaagee tith naavaaeeai |1| The Lord’s humble servants are pools of ambrosial nectar; by great good fortune, one bathes in them. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ raam mo kau har jan kaarai laaeeai | O Lord, let me work for the humble servants of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੰਤ ਆਗੈ ਪਗ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hau paanee pakhaa peesau sant aagai pag mal mal dhoor mukh laaeeai |1| rahaau | I carry water, wave the fan and grind the corn for them; I massage and wash their feet. I apply the dust of their feet to my forehead. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ ॥ har jan vadde vadde vadd aooche jo satagur mel milaaeeai | The Lord’s humble servants are great, very great, the greatest and most exalted; they lead us to meet the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੨॥ satagur jevadd avar na koee mil satagur purakh dhiaaeeai |2| No one else is as great as the True Guru; meeting the True Guru, I meditate on the Lord, the Primal Being. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਈਐ ॥ satagur saran pare tin paaeaa mere tthaakur laaj rakhaaeeai | Those who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru find the Lord. My Lord and Master saves their honor. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਆਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਗੁਲ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ eik apanai suaae aae baheh gur aagai jiau bagul samaadh lagaaeeai |3| Some come for their own purposes, and sit before the Guru; they pretend to be in Samaadhi, like storks with their eyes closed. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਗੁਲਾ ਕਾਗ ਨੀਚ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਕਰੰਗ ਬਿਖੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ bagulaa kaag neech kee sangat jaae karang bikhoo mukh laaeeai | Associating with the wretched and the lowly, like the stork and the crow, is like feeding on a carcass of poison. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੰਸੁ ਕਰਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੪॥ naanak mel mel prabh sangat mil sangat hans karaaeeai |4|4| Nanak: O God, unite me with the Sangat, the Congregation. United with the Sangat, I will become a swan. ||4||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
