ਗੋਂਡ ॥ gondd | Gond: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ grihi sobhaa jaa kai re naeh | When someone’s household has no glory, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਵਤ ਪਹੀਆ ਖੂਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ aavat paheea khoodhe jaeh | the guests who come there depart still hungry. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਵਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥ vaa kai antar nahee santokh | Deep within, there is no contentment. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਦੋਖੁ ॥੧॥ bin sohaagan laagai dokh |1| Without his bride, the wealth of Maya, he suffers in pain. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਪਵੀਤ ॥ dhan sohaagan mahaa paveet | So praise this bride, which can shake the consciousness - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਪੇ ਤਪੀਸਰ ਡੋਲੈ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tape tapeesar ddolai cheet |1| rahaau | Of even the most dedicated ascetics and sages. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਤੀ ॥ sohaagan kirapan kee pootee | This bride is the daughter of a wretched miser. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੇਵਕ ਤਜਿ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉ ਸੂਤੀ ॥ sevak taj jagat siau sootee | Abandoning the Lord’s servant, she sleeps with the world. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਠਾਢੀ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥ saadhoo kai tthaadtee darabaar | Standing at the door of the holy man, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ saran teree mo kau nisataar |2| she says, “I have come to your sanctuary; now save me!” ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ॥ sohaagan hai at sundaree | This bride is so beautiful. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਗ ਨੇਵਰ ਛਨਕ ਛਨਹਰੀ ॥ pag nevar chhanak chhanaharee | The bells on her ankles make soft music. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਉ ਲਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਊ ਲਗੁ ਸੰਗੇ ॥ jau lag praan taoo lag sange | As long as there is the breath of life in the man, she remains attached to him. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਚਲੀ ਬੇਗਿ ਉਠਿ ਨੰਗੇ ॥੩॥ naeh ta chalee beg utth nange |3| But when it is no more, she quickly gets up and departs, bare-footed. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੀਆ ॥ sohaagan bhavan trai leea | This bride has conquered the three worlds. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਦਸ ਅਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਤੀਰਥ ਰਸ ਕੀਆ ॥ das atth puraan teerath ras keea | The eighteen Puraanas and the sacred shrines of pilgrimage love her as well. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸਰ ਬੇਧੇ ॥ brahamaa bisan mahesar bedhe | She pierced the hearts of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਡੇ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੈ ਛੇਧੇ ॥੪॥ badde bhoopat raaje hai chhedhe |4| She destroyed the great emperors and kings of the world. ||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ sohaagan uravaar na paar | This bride has no restraint or limits. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਧਵਾਰਿ ॥ paanch naarad kai sang bidhavaar | She is in collusion with the five thieving passions. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੇ ਮਿਟਵੇ ਫੂਟੇ ॥ paanch naarad ke mittave footte | When the clay pot of these five passions bursts, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੫॥੫॥੮॥ kahu kabeer gur kirapaa chhootte |5|5|8| then, says Kabeer, by Guru’s Mercy, one is released. ||5||5||8|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਜੈਸੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਲਹਰ ਨਾ ਠਾਹਰੈ ॥ jaise mandar meh balahar naa tthaaharai | As the house will not stand when the supporting beams are removed from within it, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੈ ॥ naam binaa kaise paar utarai | just so, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how can anyone be carried across? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੁੰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਲੁ ਨਾ ਟੀਕਾਵੈ ॥ kunbh binaa jal naa tteekaavai | Without the pitcher, the water is not contained; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਐਸੇ ਅਬਗਤੁ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ saadhoo bin aise abagat jaavai |1| just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਾਰਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਜੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ॥ jaarau tisai ju raam na chetai | One who does not remember the Lord - let him burn; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਨ ਮਨ ਰਮਤ ਰਹੈ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਤੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tan man ramat rahai meh khetai |1| rahaau | his body and mind have remained absorbed in this field of the world. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਹਲਹਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਮੀ ਨਹੀ ਬੋਈਐ ॥ jaise halahar binaa jimee nahee boeeai | Without a farmer, the land is not planted; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੂਤ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਣੀ ਪਰੋਈਐ ॥ soot binaa kaise manee paroeeai | without a thread, how can the beads be strung? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਘੁੰਡੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਆ ਗੰਠਿ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਐ ॥ ghunddee bin kiaa gantth charrhaaeeai | Without a loop, how can the knot be tied? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਅਬਗਤੁ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ saadhoo bin taise abagat jaaeeai |2| Just so, without the Holy Saint, the mortal departs in misery. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ jaise maat pitaa bin baal na hoee | Without a mother or father there is no child; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਿੰਬ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਧੋਈ ॥ binb binaa kaise kapare dhoee | just so, without water, how can the clothes be washed? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਘੋਰ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਅਸਵਾਰ ॥ ghor binaa kaise asavaar | Without a horse, how can there be a rider? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਰਵਾਰ ॥੩॥ saadhoo bin naahee daravaar |3| Without the Holy Saint, one cannot reach the Court of the Lord. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਲੀਜੈ ਫੇਰੀ ॥ jaise baaje bin nahee leejai feree | Just as without music, there is no dancing, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਖਸਮਿ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਤਜਿ ਅਉਹੇਰੀ ॥ khasam duhaagan taj aauheree | the bride rejected by her husband is dishonored. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਏਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਨਾ ॥ kahai kabeer ekai kar karanaa | Says Kabeer, do this one thing: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੯॥ guramukh hoe bahur nahee maranaa |4|6|9| become Gurmukh, and you shall never die again. ||4||6||9|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਕੂਟਨੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੂਟੈ ॥ koottan soe ju man kau koottai | He alone is a pimp, who pounds down his mind. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਨ ਕੂਟੈ ਤਉ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੈ ॥ man koottai tau jam te chhoottai | Pounding down his mind, he escapes from the Messenger of Death. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੁਟਿ ਕੁਟਿ ਮਨੁ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ kutt kutt man kasavattee laavai | Pounding and beating his mind, he puts it to the test; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋ ਕੂਟਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ so koottan mukat bahu paavai |1| such a pimp attains total liberation. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੂਟਨੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਹਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥ koottan kisai kahahu sansaar | Who is called a pimp in this world? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਗਲ ਬੋਲਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sagal bolan ke maeh beechaar |1| rahaau | In all speech, one must carefully consider. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾਚਨੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਚੈ ॥ naachan soe ju man siau naachai | He alone is a dancer, who dances with his mind. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਝੂਠਿ ਨ ਪਤੀਐ ਪਰਚੈ ਸਾਚੈ ॥ jhootth na pateeai parachai saachai | The Lord is not satisfied with falsehood; He is pleased only with Truth. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਆਗੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਾਲ ॥ eis man aage poorai taal | So play the beat of the drum in the mind. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਸੁ ਨਾਚਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਰਖਵਾਲ ॥੨॥ eis naachan ke man rakhavaal |2| The Lord is the Protector of the dancer with such a mind. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਜਾਰੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਬਜਾਰਹਿ ਸੋਧੈ ॥ bajaaree so ju bajaareh sodhai | She alone is a street-dancer, who cleanses her body-street, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਾਂਚ ਪਲੀਤਹ ਕਉ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ॥ paanch paleetah kau parabodhai | and educates the five passions. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਉ ਨਾਇਕ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥ nau naaeik kee bhagat pachhaanai | She who embraces devotional worship for the Lord - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋ ਬਾਜਾਰੀ ਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਮਾਨੇ ॥੩॥ so baajaaree ham gur maane |3|
- I accept such a street-dancer as my Guru. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਸਕਰੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿ ਤਾਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ॥ tasakar soe ji taat na karai | He alone is a thief, who is above envy, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕੈ ਜਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥ eindree kai jatan naam ucharai | and who uses his sense organs to chant the Lord’s Name. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਲਖਨ ॥ kahu kabeer ham aise lakhan | Says Kabeer, these are the qualities of the one - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਅਤਿ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਚਖਨ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦॥ dhan guradev at roop bichakhan |4|7|10| I know as my Blessed Divine Guru, who is the most beautiful and wise. ||4||7||10|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
