ਮਨ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਅਜਹੂ ਨ ਪਤੀਨਾ ॥ man katthor ajahoo na pateenaa | Even then, his hardened mind was not satisfied. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮਰਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥ keh kabeer hamaraa gobind | Says Kabeer, such is my Lord and Master. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਚਉਥੇ ਪਦ ਮਹਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥ chauthe pad meh jan kee jind |4|1|4| The soul of His humble servant dwells in the fourth state. ||4||1||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਾਨਸੁ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਦੇਉ ॥ naa ihu maanas naa ihu deo | It is not human, and it is not a god. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਤੀ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਸੇਉ ॥ naa ihu jatee kahaavai seo | It is not called celibate, or a worshipper of Shiva. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾ ਅਵਧੂਤਾ ॥ naa ihu jogee naa avadhootaa | It is not a Yogi, and it is not a hermit. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਇ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਪੂਤਾ ॥੧॥ naa is maae na kaahoo pootaa |1| It is not a mother, or anyone’s son. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਆ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਕੌਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥ eaa mandar meh kauan basaaee | Then what is it, which dwells in this temple of the body? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taa kaa ant na koaoo paaee |1| rahaau | No one can find its limits. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਨਾ ਓਦਾਸੀ ॥ naa ihu girahee naa odaasee | It is not a house-holder, and it is not a renouncer of the world. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਰਾਜ ਨ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਾਸੀ ॥ naa ihu raaj na bheekh mangaasee | It is not a king, and it is not a beggar. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਨ ਰਕਤੂ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ naa is pindd na rakatoo raatee | It has no body, no drop of blood. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨੁ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਖਾਤੀ ॥੨॥ naa ihu brahaman naa ihu khaatee |2| It is not a Brahmin, and it is not a Kh’shaatriya. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਤਪਾ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਸੇਖੁ ॥ naa ihu tapaa kahaavai sekh | It is not called a man of austere self-discipline, or a Shaykh. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਨ ਮਰਤਾ ਦੇਖੁ ॥ naa ihu jeevai na marataa dekh | It does not live, and it is not seen to die. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਸੁ ਮਰਤੇ ਕਉ ਜੇ ਕੋਊ ਰੋਵੈ ॥ eis marate kau je koaoo rovai | If someone cries over its death, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੋ ਰੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥੩॥ jo rovai soee pat khovai |3| that person loses his honor. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੈ ਡਗਰੋ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ gur prasaad mai ddagaro paaeaa | By Guru’s Grace, I have found the Path. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੀਵਨ ਮਰਨੁ ਦੋਊ ਮਿਟਵਾਇਆ ॥ jeevan maran doaoo mittavaaeaa | Birth and death have both been erased. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਅੰਸੁ ॥ kahu kabeer ihu raam kee ans | Says Kabeer, this is formed of the same essence as the Lord. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਸ ਕਾਗਦ ਪਰ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਮੰਸੁ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥ jas kaagad par mittai na mans |4|2|5| It is like the ink on the paper which cannot be erased. ||4||2||5|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਤੂਟੇ ਤਾਗੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੀ ਪਾਨਿ ॥ tootte taage nikhuttee paan | The threads are broken, and the starch has run out. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਦੁਆਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਝਿਲਕਾਵਹਿ ਕਾਨ ॥ duaar aoopar jhilakaaveh kaan | Bare reeds glisten at the front door. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੂਚ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ਫੂਏ ਫਾਲ ॥ kooch bichaare fooe faal | The poor brushes are scattered in pieces. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਆ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਚਢਿਬੋ ਕਾਲ ॥੧॥ eaa munddeea sir chadtibo kaal |1| Death has entered this shaven head. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਸਗਲੋ ਦ੍ਰਬੁ ਖੋਈ ॥ eihu munddeea sagalo drab khoee | This shaven-headed mendicant has wasted all his wealth. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਨਾਕ ਸਰ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aavat jaat naak sar hoee |1| rahaau | All this coming and going has irritated him. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤੁਰੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਕੀ ਛੋਡੀ ਬਾਤਾ ॥ turee naar kee chhoddee baataa | He has given up all talk of his weaving equipment. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਵਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ raam naam vaa kaa man raataa | His mind is attuned to the Lord’s Name. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਲਰਿਕੀ ਲਰਿਕਨ ਖੈਬੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ larikee larikan khaibo naeh | His daughters and sons have nothing to eat, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਾਪੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ munddeea anadin dhaape jaeh |2| while the shaven-headed mendicants night and day eat their fill. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਕ ਦੁਇ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਇਕ ਦੁਇ ਬਾਟ ॥ eik due mandar ik due baatt | One or two are in the house, and one or two more are on the way. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਾਥਰੁ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਖਾਟ ॥ ham kau saathar un kau khaatt | We sleep on the floor, while they sleep in the beds. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੂਡ ਪਲੋਸਿ ਕਮਰ ਬਧਿ ਪੋਥੀ ॥ moodd palos kamar badh pothee | They rub their bare heads, and carry prayer-books in their waist-bands. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮ ਕਉ ਚਾਬਨੁ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਰੋਟੀ ॥੩॥ ham kau chaaban un kau rottee |3| We get dry grains, while they get loaves of bread. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਹੂਏ ਏਕ ॥ munddeea munddeea hooe ek | He will become one of these shaven-headed mendicants. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਏ ਮੁੰਡੀਆ ਬੂਡਤ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ॥ e munddeea booddat kee ttek | They are the support of the drowning. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੁਨਿ ਅੰਧਲੀ ਲੋਈ ਬੇਪੀਰਿ ॥ sun andhalee loee bepeer | Listen, O blind and unguided Loi: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਨੑ ਮੁੰਡੀਅਨ ਭਜਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥ eina munddeean bhaj saran kabeer |4|3|6| Kabeer has taken shelter with these shaven-headed mendicants. ||4||3||6|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਖਸਮੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਉ ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਰੋਵੈ ॥ khasam marai tau naar na rovai | When her husband dies, the woman does not cry. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਉਸੁ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ਅਉਰੋ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ aus rakhavaaraa aauro hovai | Someone else becomes her protector. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥ rakhavaare kaa hoe binaas | When this protector dies, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਗੈ ਨਰਕੁ ਈਹਾ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ॥੧॥ aagai narak eehaa bhog bilaas |1| he falls into the world of hell hereafter, for the sexual pleasures he enjoyed in this world. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਏਕ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ ek suhaagan jagat piaaree | The world loves only the one bride, Maya. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sagale jeea jant kee naaree |1| rahaau | She is the wife of all beings and creatures. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਗਲਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਹਾਰੁ ॥ sohaagan gal sohai haar | With her necklace around her neck, this bride looks beautiful. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੰਤ ਕਉ ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ sant kau bikh bigasai sansaar | She is poison to the Saint, but the world is delighted with her. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਹੈ ਪਖਿਆਰੀ ॥ kar seegaar bahai pakhiaaree | Adorning herself, she sits like a prostitute. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਠਿਠਕੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ sant kee tthitthakee firai bichaaree |2| Cursed by the Saints, she wanders around like a wretch. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੰਤ ਭਾਗਿ ਓਹ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਰੈ ॥ sant bhaag oeh paachhai parai | She runs around, chasing after the Saints. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਾਰਹੁ ਡਰੈ ॥ gur parasaadee maarahu ddarai | She is afraid of being beaten by those blessed with the Guru’s Grace. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਓਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਰਾਇਣਿ ॥ saakat kee oeh pindd paraaein | She is the body, the breath of life, of the faithless cynics. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪਰੈ ਤ੍ਰਖਿ ਡਾਇਣਿ ॥੩॥ ham kau drisatt parai trakh ddaaein |3| She appears to me like a blood-thirsty witch. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਬਹੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਭੇਉ ॥ ham tis kaa bahu jaaniaa bheo | I know her secrets well - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਬ ਹੂਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ॥ jab hooe kripaal mile guradeo | in His Mercy, the Divine Guru met me. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਰੀ ॥ kahu kabeer ab baahar paree | Says Kabeer, now I have thrown her out. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ਕੈ ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਰੀ ॥੪॥੪॥੭॥ sansaarai kai anchal laree |4|4|7| She clings to the skirt of the world. ||4||4||7|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
