ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋਤ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ sukh saagar prabh bhettiai naanak sukhee hot ihu jeeo |1| Meeting with God, the Ocean of Peace, O Nanak, this soul becomes happy. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਬ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ sukh saagar prabh paaeeai jab hovai bhaago raam | One finds God, the Ocean of Peace, when destiny is activated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਨਨਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ maanan maan vayaaeeai har charanee laago raam | Abandoning the distinctions of honor and dishonor, grasp the Feet of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਚਾਤੁਰੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਿਆਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ chhodd siaanap chaaturee duramat budh tiaago raam | Renounce cleverness and trickery, and forsake your evil-minded intellect. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਹਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ naanak pau saranaaee raam raae thir hoe suhaago raam |1| O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord, Your King, and your marriage will be permanent and stable. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਜਿ ਕਤ ਲਾਗੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ so prabh taj kat laageeai jis bin mar jaaeeai raam | Why forsake God, and attach yourself to another? Without the Lord, you cannot even live. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਬਿਰਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ laaj na aavai agiaan matee durajan biramaaeeai raam | The ignorant fool does not feel any shame; the evil man wanders around deluded. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ patit paavan prabh tiaag kare kahu kat tthaharaaeeai raam | God is the Purifier of sinners; if he forsakes God, tell me, where he can find a place of rest? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਕੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥ naanak bhagat bhaau kar deaal kee jeevan pad paaeeai raam |2| O Nanak, by loving devotional worship of the Merciful Lord, he attains the state of eternal life. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਨ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਬਲਿ ਗਈਏ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ sree gopaal na uchareh bal geee duhachaaran rasanaa raam | May that vicious tongue that does not chant the Name of the Great Lord of the World, be burnt. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਨਹ ਸੇਵਹੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਕ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ prabh bhagat vachhal neh sevahee kaaeaa kaak grasanaa raam | One who does not serve God, the Lover of His devotees, shall have his body eaten by crows. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਬਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ bhram mohee dookh na jaanahee kott jonee basanaa raam | Enticed by doubt, he does not understand the pain it brings; he wanders through millions of incarnations. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਜਿ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਭਸਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ naanak bin har avar ji chaahanaa bisattaa krim bhasamaa raam |3| O Nanak, if you desire anything other than the Lord, you shall be consumed, like a maggot in manure. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਾਇ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ laae birahu bhagavant sange hoe mil bairaagan raam | Embrace love for the Lord God, and in detachment, unite with Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚੰਦਨ ਚੀਰ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਰਸਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ chandan cheer sugandh rasaa haumai bikh tiaagan raam | Give up your sandalwood oil, expensive clothes, perfumes, tasty flavors and the poison of egotism. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ eet aoot neh ddoleeai har sevaa jaagan raam | Do not waver this way or that, but remain wakeful in the service of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾ ਅਟਲ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥ naanak jin prabh paaeaa aapanaa saa attal suhaagan raam |4|1|4| O Nanak, she who has obtained her God, is a happy soul-bride forever. ||4||1||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਗੁਨ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਸਦ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ gun govid sad gaaeeeh paarabraham kai range raam | Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe forever, imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਫਲ ਮੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ so prabh sad hee seveeai paaeeeh fal mange raam | Serving God forever, you shall obtain the fruitful rewards you desire. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ naanak prabh saranaagatee jap anat tarange raam |1| O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of God; meditate on the Lord, and ride the many waves of the mind. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ eik til prabhoo na veesarai jin sabh kichh deenaa raam | I shall not forget God, even for an instant; He has blessed me with everything. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮੇਲਾਵੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਚੀਨੑਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ vaddabhaagee melaavarraa guramukh pir cheenaa raam | By great good fortune, I have met Him; as Gurmukh, I contemplate my Husband Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਤਮ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਲੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ baah pakarr tam te kaadtiaa kar apunaa leenaa raam | Holding me by the arm, He has lifted me up and pulled me out of the darkness, and made me His own. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥ naam japat naanak jeevai seetal man seenaa raam |2| Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Nanak lives; his mind and heart are cooled and soothed. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ kiaa gun tere keh skau prabh antarajaamee raam | What virtues of Yours can I speak, O God, O Searcher of hearts? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਭਏ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ simar simar naaraaeinai bhe paaragaraamee raam | Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I have crossed over to the other shore. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ gun gaavat govind ke sabh ichh pujaamee raam | Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, all my desires are fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੇ ਸਭਹੂ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ naanak udhare jap hare sabhahoo kaa suaamee raam |3| Nanak is saved, meditating on the Lord, the Lord and Master of all. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਸ ਭਿੰਨਿਅੜੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਨੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ras bhiniarre apune raam sange se loein neeke raam | Sublime are those eyes, which are drenched with the Love of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਤ ਇਛਾ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ prabh pekhat ichhaa puneea mil saajan jee ke raam | Gazing upon God, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Friend of my soul. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਫੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ amrit ras har paaeaa bikhiaa ras feeke raam | I have obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord’s Love, and now the taste of corruption is insipid and tasteless to me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥੯॥ naanak jal jaleh samaaeaa jotee jot meeke raam |4|2|5|9| O Nanak, as water mingles with water, my light has merged into the Light. ||4||2||5||9|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
