ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਅਪਣਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇ ॥ manamukh mue apanaa janam khoe | The self-willed manmukhs waste away their lives, and die. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ satigur seve bharam chukaae | Serving the True Guru, doubt is driven away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੯॥ ghar hee andar sach mehal paae |9| Deep within the home of the heart, one finds the Mansion of the True Lord’s Presence. ||9|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ aape pooraa kare su hoe | Whatever the Perfect Lord does, that alone happens. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਹਿ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੋਇ ॥ ehi thitee vaar doojaa doe | Concern with these omens and days leads only to duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥ satigur baajhahu andh gubaar | Without the True Guru, there is only pitch darkness. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ thitee vaar seveh mugadh gavaar | Only idiots and fools worry about these omens and days. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥ naanak guramukh boojhai sojhee paae | O Nanak, the Gurmukh obtains understanding and realization; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੦॥੨॥ eikat naam sadaa rahiaa samaae |10|2| he remains forever merged in the Name of the One Lord. ||10||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮੁੰਧ ਨਵੇਲੜੀਆ ਗੋਇਲਿ ਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ mundh navelarreea goeil aaee raam | The young, innocent soul-bride has come to the pasture lands of the world. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਟੁਕੀ ਡਾਰਿ ਧਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ mattukee ddaar dharee har liv laaee raam | Laying aside her pitcher of worldly concern, she lovingly attunes herself to her Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੀ ਗੋਇਲਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀਆ ॥ liv laae har siau rahee goeil sehaj sabad seegaareea | She remains lovingly absorbed in the pasture of the Lord, automatically embellished with the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੀਆ ॥ kar jorr gur peh kar binantee milahu saach piaareea | With her palms pressed together, she prays to the Guru, to unite her with her True Beloved Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਧਨ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ dhan bhaae bhagatee dekh preetam kaam krodh nivaariaa | Seeing His bride’s loving devotion, the Beloved Lord eradicates unfulfilled sexual desire and unresolved anger. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੁੰਧ ਨਵੇਲ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ naanak mundh navel sundar dekh pir saadhaariaa |1| O Nanak, the young, innocent bride is so beautiful; seeing her Husband Lord, she is comforted. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚਿ ਨਵੇਲੜੀਏ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਬਾਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ sach navelarree joban baalee raam | Truthfully, O young soul-bride, your youth keeps you innocent. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਉ ਕਹੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਹ ਨਾਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ aau na jaau kahee apane seh naalee raam | Do not come and go anywhere; stay with your Husband Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਹ ਅਪਨੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਾਸੀ ਮੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਾਵਏ ॥ naah apane sang daasee mai bhagat har kee bhaave | I will stay with my Husband Lord; I am His hand-maiden. Devotional worship to the Lord is pleasing to me. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥੀਐ ਸਹਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਏ ॥ agaadh bodh akath katheeai sehaj prabh gun gaave | I know the unknowable, and speak the unspoken; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Celestial Lord God. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਾਲ ਰਸੀਆ ਰਵੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੀਆ ॥ raam naam rasaal raseea ravai saach piaareea | She who chants and savors the taste of the Lord’s Name is loved by the True Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਦੀਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਕੀਆ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਆ ॥੨॥ gur sabad deea daan keea naanakaa veechaareea |2| The Guru grants her the gift of the Shabad; O Nanak, she contemplates and reflects upon it. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਮੋਹਿਅੜੀ ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੂਤੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ sreedhar mohiarree pir sang sootee raam | She who is fascinated by the Supreme Lord, sleeps with her Husband Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਚਲੋ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੰਗੂਤੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ gur kai bhaae chalo saach sangootee raam | She walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, attuned to the Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਧਨ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੰਗੂਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੂਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਆ ॥ dhan saach sangootee har sang sootee sang sakhee saheleea | The soul-bride is attuned to the Truth, and sleeps with the Lord, along with her companions and sister soul-brides. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਇਕ ਭਾਇ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮ ਮੇਲੀਆ ॥ eik bhaae ik man naam vasiaa satiguroo ham meleea | Loving the One Lord, with one-pointed mind, the Naam dwells within; I am united with the True Guru. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਚਸਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ॥ din rain gharree na chasaa visarai saas saas niranjano | Day and night, with each and every breath, I do not forget the Immaculate Lord, for a moment, even for an instant. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਾਇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੋ ॥੩॥ sabad jot jagaae deepak naanakaa bhau bhanjano |3| So light the lamp of the Shabad, O Nanak, and burn away your fear. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਇੜੀਏ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ jot sabaaeirree tribhavan saare raam | O soul-bride, the Lord’s Light pervades all the three worlds. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ghatt ghatt rav rahiaa alakh apaare raam | He is pervading each and every heart, the Invisible and Infinite Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ ॥ alakh apaar apaar saachaa aap maar milaaeeai | He is Invisible and Infinite, Infinite and True; subduing his self-conceit, one meets Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਲੋਭੁ ਜਾਲਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਈਐ ॥ haumai mamataa lobh jaalahu sabad mail chukaaeeai | So burn away your egotistical pride, attachment and greed, with the Word of the Shabad; wash away your filth. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਦਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਕਰੀ ਭਾਣੈ ਤਾਰਿ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ dar jaae darasan karee bhaanai taar taaranahaariaa | When you go to the Lord’s Door, you shall receive the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; by His Will, the Savior will carry you across and save you. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥ har naam amrit chaakh tripatee naanakaa ur dhaariaa |4|1| Tasting the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord’s Name, the soul-bride is satisfied; O Nanak, she enshrines Him in her heart. ||4||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਮੋਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ mohee prem pire prabh abinaasee raam | I am enticed by the love of my Husband Lord, the Eternal, Imperishable Lord God. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਵਿਗਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਥਹ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ॥ avigato har naath naathah tisai bhaavai so theeai | The Lord is everlasting, the Master of masters. Whatever He wills, happens. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਐ ॥ kirapaal sadaa deaal daataa jeea andar toon jeeai | O Great Giver, You are always kind and compassionate. You infuse life into all living beings. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
