ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਈਆ ॥ sej ek eko prabh tthaakur mehal na paavai manamukh bharameea | There is one bed for the soul-bride, and the same bed for God, her Lord and Master. The self-willed manmukh does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence; she wanders around, in limbo. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਢੀਲ ਨ ਪਈਆ ॥੫॥ gur gur karat saran je aavai prabh aae milai khin dteel na peea |5| Uttering, “Guru, Guru”, she seeks His Sanctuary; so God comes to meet her, without a moment’s delay. ||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆਚਾਰ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਪਟ ਲੋਭਈਆ ॥ kar kar kiriaachaar vadhaae man paakhandd karam kapatt lobheea | One may perform many rituals, but the mind is filled with hypocrisy, evil deeds and greed. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੇਟਾ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਈਆ ॥੬॥ besuaa kai ghar bettaa janamiaa pitaa taeh kiaa naam sadeea |6| When a son is born in the house of a prostitute, who can tell the name of his father? ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਮਈਆ ॥ poorab janam bhagat kar aae gur har har har har bhagat jameea | Because of devotional worship in my past incarnations, I have been born into this life. The Guru has inspired me to worship the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਈਆ ॥੭॥ bhagat bhagat karate har paaeaa jaa har har har har naam sameea |7| Worshipping, worshipping Him with devotion, I found the Lord, and then I merged into the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਆਣਿ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਪੀਸਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਲਈਆ ॥ prabh aan aan mahindee peesaaee aape ghol ghol ang leea | God Himself came and ground the henna leaves into powder, and applied it to my body. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਢਿ ਲਈਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥ jin kau tthaakur kirapaa dhaaree baah pakar naanak kadt leea |8|6|2|1|6|9| Our Lord and Master showers His Mercy upon us, and grasps hold of our arms; O Nanak, He lifts us up and saves us. ||8||6||9||2||1||6||9|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥ aupamaa jaat na kahee mere prabh kee upamaa jaat na kahee | I cannot express the Praises of my God; I cannot express His Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taj aan saran gahee |1| rahaau | I have abandoned all others, seeking His Sanctuary. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ prabh charan kamal apaar | God’s Lotus Feet are Infinite. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥ hau jaau sad balihaar | I am forever a sacrifice to Them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥ man preet laagee taeh | My mind is in love with Them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ taj aan kateh na jaeh |1| If I were to abandon Them, there is nowhere else I could go. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਨ ॥ har naam rasanaa kehan | I chant the Lord’s Name with my tongue. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਕਲਮਲ ਦਹਨ ॥ mal paap kalamal dehan | The filth of my sins and evil mistakes is burnt off. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚੜਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ॥ charr naav sant udhaar | Climbing aboard the Boat of the Saints, I am emancipated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭੈ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ bhai tare saagar paar |2| I have been carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨਿ ਡੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥ man ddor prem pareet | My mind is tied to the Lord with the string of love and devotion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ eih sant niramal reet | This is the Immaculate Way of the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਜਿ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥ taj ge paap bikaar | They forsake sin and corruption. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥ har mile prabh nirankaar |3| They meet the Formless Lord God. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥ prabh pekheeai bisamaad | Gazing upon God, I am wonderstruck. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਖਿ ਅਨਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਦ ॥ chakh anad pooran saad | I taste the Perfect Flavor of Bliss. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਇਤ ਊਤ ॥ neh ddoleeai it aoot | I do not waver or wander here or there. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤ ॥੪॥ prabh base har har cheet |4| The Lord God, Har, Har, dwells within my consciousness. ||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਨੑ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ tina naeh narak nivaas | Those who constantly remember God, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਤ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ nit simar prabh gunataas | The treasure of virtue, will never go to hell. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਨੈਨ ॥ te jam na pekheh nain | Those who listen, fascinated, to the Unstruck Sound-Current of the Word, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੈਨ ॥੫॥ sun mohe anahat bain |5| Will never have to see the Messenger of Death with their eyes. ||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥ har saran soor gupaal | I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Heroic Lord of the World. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਗਤ ਵਸਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ prabh bhagat vas deaal | The Merciful Lord God is under the power of His devotees. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਗਮ ਲਹਹਿ ਨ ਭੇਵ ॥ har nigam laheh na bhev | The Vedas do not know the Mystery of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥੬॥ nit kareh mun jan sev |6| The silent sages constantly serve Him. ||6|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਖ ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰ ॥ dukh deen darad nivaar | He is the Destroyer of the pains and sorrows of the poor. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੜੀ ਕਾਰ ॥ jaa kee mahaa bikharree kaar | It is so very difficult to serve Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ taa kee mit na jaanai koe | No one knows His limits. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥ jal thal maheeal soe |7| He is pervading the water, the land and the sky. ||7|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥ kar bandanaa lakh baar | Hundreds of thousands of times, I humbly bow to Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਥਕਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥ thak pario prabh darabaar | I have grown weary, and I have collapsed at God’s Door. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ prabh karahu saadhoo dhoor | O God, make me the dust of the feet of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੮॥੧॥ naanak manasaa poor |8|1| Please fulfill this, Nanak’s wish. ||8||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥ haar pario duaar | I have grown weary, and collapsed at Your door. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥ geh charan saadhoo sang | I grasp Your Feet, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਮਿਸਟ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ॥ man misatt har har rang | The Love of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet to my mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
