ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮੑ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਨ ਆਖੀ ॥ sun sun jeevai daas tuma baanee jan aakhee | Your slave lives by hearing, hearing the Word of Your Bani, chanted by Your humble servant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਸਭ ਲੋਅ ਮਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ pragatt bhee sabh loa meh sevak kee raakhee |1| rahaau | The Guru is revealed in all the worlds; He saves the honor of His servant. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ agan saagar te kaadtiaa prabh jalan bujhaaee | God has pulled me out of the ocean of fire, and quenched my burning thirst. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਲੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨॥ amrit naam jal sanchiaa gur bhe sahaaee |2| The Guru has sprinkled the Ambrosial Water of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He has become my Helper. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਕਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ janam maran dukh kaattiaa sukh kaa thaan paaeaa | The pains of birth and death are removed, and I have obtained a resting place of peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਟੀ ਸਿਲਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ kaattee silak bhram moh kee apane prabh bhaaeaa |3| The noose of doubt and emotional attachment has been snapped; I have become pleasing to my God. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਛੁ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥ mat koee jaanahu avar kachh sabh prabh kai haath | Let no one think that there is any other at all; everything is in the Hands of God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਏ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੫੨॥ sarab sookh naanak paae sang santan saath |4|22|52| Nanak has found total peace, in the Society of the Saints. ||4||22||52|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ deen deaal prabh paarabraham taa kee nadar nihaal |1| The Supreme Lord God is Merciful to the meek; by His Glance of Grace, I am in ecstasy. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ gur poorai kirapaa karee kaattiaa dukh rog | The Perfect Guru has shown mercy to me, and eradicated my pains and illnesses. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੁਖੀ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man tan seetal sukhee bheaa prabh dhiaavan jog |1| rahaau | My mind and body have been cooled and soothed, meditating on God, most worthy of meditation. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥ aaukhadh har kaa naam hai jit rog na viaapai | The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all disease; with it, no disease afflicts me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਿਤੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥ saadhasang man tan hitai fir dookh na jaapai |2| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the mind and body are tinged with the Lord’s Love, and I do not suffer pain any longer. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ har har har har jaapeeai antar liv laaee | I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, lovingly centering my inner being on Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥ kilavikh utareh sudh hoe saadhoo saranaaee |3| Sinful mistakes are erased and I am sanctified, in the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਨਤ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਲਾਈ ॥ sunat japat har naam jas taa kee door balaaee | Misfortune is kept far away from those who hear and chant the Praises of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੩॥ mahaa mantru naanak kathai har ke gun gaaee |4|23|53| Nanak chants the Mahaa Mantra, the Great Mantra, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||23||53|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭ੍ਰਾਂਤਿ ॥੧॥ naam japat govind kaa binasai bhram bhraant |1| Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, doubt and delusions are dispelled. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਪਰਵੇਸੁ ॥ gur pooraa jis bhettiaa taa kai sukh paraves | One who meets with the Perfect Guru, is blessed with peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀਐ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man kee mat tiaageeai suneeai upades |1| rahaau | So renounce the intellectual cleverness of your mind, and listen to the Teachings. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ simarat simarat simareeai so purakh daataar | Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Primal Lord, the Great Giver. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ man te kabahu na veesarai so purakh apaar |2| May I never forget that Primal, Infinite Lord from my mind. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥ jaa kau kirapaa karahu prabh taa kau laavahu sev |3| One who is blessed by Your Mercy, God, is committed to Your service. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਆਨੰਦ ॥ nidh nidhaan amrit peea man tan aanand | I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar, the treasure of wealth, and my mind and body are in bliss. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੪॥ naanak kabahu na veesarai prabh paramaanand |4|24|54| Nanak never forgets God, the Lord of supreme bliss. ||4||24||54|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਆਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੧॥ thit paaee aanad bheaa gur keene dharamaa |1| I have found stability, and I am in ecstasy; the Guru has blessed me with Dharmic faith. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੀਰ ॥ gur pooraa aaraadhiaa binasee meree peer | Worshipping the Perfect Guru in adoration, my anguish is eradicated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥ sovat har jap jaagiaa pekhiaa bisamaad | I have awakened from sleep, chanting the Name of the Lord; gazing upon Him, I am filled with wonder. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੁਆਦੁ ॥੨॥ pee amrit tripataasiaa taa kaa acharaj suaad |2| Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, I am satisfied. How wondrous is its taste! ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥ aap mukat sangee tare kul kuttanb udhaare | I myself am liberated, and my companions swim across; my family and ancestors are also saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ safal sevaa guradev kee niramal darabaare |3| Service to the Divine Guru is fruitful; it has made me pure in the Court of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨੀਚੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਗੁਣਹੀਨੁ ॥ neech anaath ajaan mai niragun gunaheen | I am lowly, without a master, ignorant, worthless and without virtue. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
