ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮੑਾਰੈ ॥੨॥ deen deaal kripaa nidhe saas saas samaarai |2| Merciful to the meek, the treasure of mercy, He remembers and protects us with each and every breath. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਜੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਾਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ karanahaar jo kar rahiaa saaee vaddiaaee | Whatever the Creator Lord does is glorious and great. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਖਸਮ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ gur poorai upadesiaa sukh khasam rajaaee |3| The Perfect Guru has instructed me, that peace comes by the Will of our Lord and Master. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਿੰਤ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਗਣਤ ਤਜਿ ਜਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ chint andesaa ganat taj jan hukam pachhaataa | Anxieties, worries and calculations are dismissed; the Lord’s humble servant accepts the Hukam of His Command. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਹ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੪੮॥ neh binasai neh chhodd jaae naanak rang raataa |4|18|48| He does not die, and He does not leave; Nanak is attuned to His Love. ||4||18||48|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਹਾ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਰਸਤ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਠੇ ॥ mahaa tapat te bhee saant parasat paap naatthe | The great fire is put out and cooled; meeting with the Guru, sins run away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਗਲਤ ਥੇ ਕਾਢੇ ਦੇ ਹਾਥੇ ॥੧॥ andh koop meh galat the kaadte de haathe |1| I fell into the deep dark pit; giving me His Hand, He pulled me out. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਓਇ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਹਮ ਉਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ॥ oe hamaare saajanaa ham un kee ren | He is my friend; I am the dust of His Feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jin bhettat hovat sukhee jeea daan den |1| rahaau | Meeting with Him, I am at peace; He blesses me with the gift of the soul. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬਲਾ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਬ ਆਇ ॥ paraa poorabalaa leekhiaa miliaa ab aae | I have now received my pre-ordained destiny. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਸਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾਇ ॥੨॥ basat sang har saadh kai pooran aasaae |2| Dwelling with the Lord’s Holy Saints, my hopes are fulfilled. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਕ ਕੇ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਖ ਥਾਨ ॥ bhai binase tihu lok ke paae sukh thaan | The fear of the three worlds is dispelled, and I have found my place of rest and peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥ deaa karee samarath gur basiaa man naam |3| The all-powerful Guru has taken pity upon me, and the Naam has come to dwell in my mind. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਟੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰ ॥ naanak kee too ttek prabh teraa aadhaar | O God, You are the Anchor and Support of Nanak. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੪੯॥ karan kaaran samarath prabh har agam apaar |4|19|49| He is the Doer, the Cause of causes; the All-powerful Lord God is inaccessible and infinite. ||4||19||49|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੋਈ ਮਲੀਨੁ ਦੀਨੁ ਹੀਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਨਾ ॥ soee maleen deen heen jis prabh bisaraanaa | One who forgets God is filthy, poor and low. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਬੂਝਈ ਆਪੁ ਗਨੈ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ karanaihaar na boojhee aap ganai bigaanaa |1| The fool does not understand the Creator Lord; instead, he thinks that he himself is the doer. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੂਖੁ ਤਦੇ ਜਦਿ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ॥ dookh tade jad veesarai sukh prabh chit aae | Pain comes, when one forgets Him. Peace comes when one remembers God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ santan kai aanand ehu nit har gun gaae |1| rahaau | This is the way the Saints are in bliss - they continually sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ਕਰੈ ਨੀਚ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪੈ ॥ aooche te neechaa karai neech khin meh thaapai | The high, He makes low, and the low, he elevates in an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ॥੨॥ keemat kahee na jaaeeai tthaakur parataapai |2| The value of the glory of our Lord and Master cannot be estimated. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੇਖਤ ਲੀਲਾ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਚਲਨੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਆਇਆ ॥ pekhat leelaa rang roop chalanai din aaeaa | While he gazes upon beautiful dramas and plays, the day of his departure dawns. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ supane kaa supanaa bheaa sang chaliaa kamaaeaa |3| The dream becomes the dream, and his actions do not go along with him. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ karan kaaran samarath prabh teree saranaaee | God is All-powerful, the Cause of causes; I seek Your Sanctuary. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਪੈ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੫੦॥ har dinas rain naanak japai sad sad bal jaaee |4|20|50| Day and night, Nanak meditates on the Lord; forever and ever he is a sacrifice. ||4||20||50|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਲੁ ਢੋਵਉ ਇਹ ਸੀਸ ਕਰਿ ਕਰ ਪਗ ਪਖਲਾਵਉ ॥ jal dtovau ih sees kar kar pag pakhalaavau | I carry water on my head, and with my hands I wash their feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬੇਰੀਆ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ baar jaau lakh bereea daras pekh jeevaavau |1| Tens of thousands of times, I am a sacrifice to them; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I live. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਉ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ krau manorath manai maeh apane prabh te paavau | The hopes which I cherish in my mind - my God fulfills them all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਉ ਸੂਹਨੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਬੀਜਨੁ ਢੋਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ deo soohanee saadh kai beejan dtolaavau |1| rahaau | With my broom, I sweep the homes of the Holy Saints, and wave the fan over them. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਤ ਬੋਲਤੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨਹਿ ਪੀਲਾਵਉ ॥ amrit gun sant bolate sun maneh peelaavau | The Saints chant the Ambrosial Praises of the Lord; I listen, and my mind drinks it in. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਉ ॥੨॥ auaa ras meh saant tripat hoe bikhai jalan bujhaavau |2| That sublime essence calms and soothes me, and quenches the fire of sin and corruption. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਬ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਤਿਨੑ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਉ ॥ jab bhagat kareh sant manddalee tina mil har gaavau | When the galaxy of Saints worship the Lord in devotion, I join them, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੩॥ krau namasakaar bhagat jan dhoor mukh laavau |3| I bow in reverence to the humble devotees, and apply the dust of their feet to my face. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਜਪਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਵਉ ॥ aootthat baitthat jpau naam ihu karam kamaavau | Sitting down and standing up, I chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; this is what I do. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੫੧॥ naanak kee prabh benatee har saran samaavau |4|21|51| This is Nanak’s prayer to God, that he may merge in the Lord’s Sanctuary. ||4||21||51|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ saadhasangat kai sang vasai vaddabhaagee paae |1| He dwells with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; by great good fortune, he finds the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
