ਸ੍ਰਵਨੀ ਸੁਨਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਉ ॥ sravanee sunau har har hare tthaakur jas gaavau | With my ears, I listen to the Lord, Har, Har; I sing the Praises of my Lord and Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਚਰਣ ਕਰ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥੧॥ sant charan kar sees dhar har naam dhiaavau |1| I place my hands and my head upon the feet of the Saints, and meditate on the Lord’s Name. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਇਹ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ kar kirapaa deaal prabh ih nidh sidh paavau | Be kind to me, O Merciful God, and bless me with this wealth and success. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਲੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sant janaa kee renukaa lai maathai laavau |1| rahaau | Obtaining the dust of the feet of the Saints, I apply it to my forehead. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨੀਚ ਤੇ ਨੀਚੁ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੋਇ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨਉ ਬੁਲਾਵਉ ॥ neech te neech at neech hoe kar binau bulaavau | I am the lowest of the low, absolutely the lowest; I offer my humble prayer. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥੨॥ paav malovaa aap tiaag santasang samaavau |2| I wash their feet, and renounce my self-conceit; I merge in the Saints’ Congregation. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਹ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਅਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਧਾਵਉ ॥ saas saas neh veesarai an kateh na dhaavau | With each and every breath, I never forget the Lord; I never go to another. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥੩॥ safal darasan gur bhetteeai maan mohu mittaavau |3| Obtaining the Fruitful Vision of the Guru’s Darshan, I discard my pride and attachment. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਉ ॥ sat santokh deaa dharam seegaar banaavau | I am embellished with truth, contentment, compassion and Dharmic faith. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਉ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੪੫॥ safal suhaagan naanakaa apune prabh bhaavau |4|15|45| My spiritual marriage is fruitful, O Nanak; I am pleasing to my God. ||4||15||45|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਅਟਲ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥ attal bachan saadhoo janaa sabh meh pragattaaeaa | The words of the Holy are eternal and unchanging; this is apparent to everyone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ jis jan hoaa saadhasang tis bhettai har raaeaa |1| That humble being, who joins the Saadh Sangat, meets the Sovereign Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ eih parateet govind kee jap har sukh paaeaa | This faith in the Lord of the Universe, and peace, are found by meditating on the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ anik baataa sabh kar rahe gur ghar lai aaeaa |1| rahaau | Everyone is speaking in various ways, but the Guru has brought the Lord into the home of my self. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਤਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਹਸਾਇਆ ॥ saran pare kee raakhataa naahee sahasaaeaa | He preserves the honor of those who seek His Sanctuary; there is no doubt about this at all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਇ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਦੁਲਭਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ karam bhoom har naam boe aausar dulabhaaeaa |2| In the field of actions and karma, plant the Lord’s Name; this opportunity is so difficult to obtain! ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥ antarajaamee aap prabh sabh kare karaaeaa | God Himself is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; He does, and causes everything to be done. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਘਣੇ ਕਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਬਿਰਦਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ patit puneet ghane kare tthaakur biradaaeaa |3| He purifies so many sinners; this is the natural way of our Lord and Master. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਤ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਜਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ॥ mat bhoolahu maanukh jan maaeaa bharamaaeaa | Don’t be fooled, O mortal being, by the illusion of Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖਸੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੪੬॥ naanak tis pat raakhasee jo prabh pahiraaeaa |4|16|46| O Nanak, God saves the honor of those of whom He approves. ||4||16||46|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਾਟੀ ਤੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਰਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥ maattee te jin saajiaa kar duralabh deh | He fashioned you from clay, and made your priceless body. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਢਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਹ ॥੧॥ anik chhidr man meh dtake niramal drisatteh |1| He covers the many faults in your mind, and makes you look immaculate and pure. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਏਹ ॥ kiau bisarai prabh manai te jis ke gun eh | So why do you forget God from your mind? He has done so many good things for you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਜਿ ਰਚੇ ਜਿ ਆਨ ਸਿਉ ਸੋ ਰਲੀਐ ਖੇਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ prabh taj rache ji aan siau so raleeai kheh |1| rahaau | One who forsakes God, and blends himself with another, in the end is blended with dust. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਮਤ ਬਿਲਮ ਕਰੇਹ ॥ simarahu simarahu saas saas mat bilam kareh | Meditate, meditate in remembrance with each and every breath - do not delay! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛੋਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਪੰਚੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਰਚਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਕੂੜੇ ਨੇਹ ॥੨॥ chhodd prapanch prabh siau rachahu taj koorre neh |2| Renounce worldly affairs, and merge yourself into God; forsake false loves. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਏਕ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਕੀਏ ਹੈ ਹੋਸੀ ਏਹ ॥ jin anik ek bahu rang kee hai hosee eh | He is many, and He is One; He takes part in the many plays. This is as He is, and shall be. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਹ ॥੩॥ kar sevaa tis paarabraham gur te mat leh |3| So serve that Supreme Lord God, and accept the Guru’s Teachings. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਵਡਾ ਸਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਰਨੇਹ ॥ aooche te aoochaa vaddaa sabh sang baraneh | God is said to be the highest of the high, the greatest of all, our companion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਕੋ ਦਾਸਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੪੭॥ daas daas ko daasaraa naanak kar leh |4|17|47| Please, let Nanak be the slave of the slave of Your slaves. ||4||17||47|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੧॥ sabh aoopar samarath prabh pooran gunataas |1| God is All-powerful, above all; He is the perfect treasure of virtue. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ jan kaa naam adhaar hai prabh saranee paeh | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Support of the humble servant who seeks God’s Sanctuary. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਕਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ paramesar kaa aasaraa santan man maeh |1| rahaau | In their minds, the Saints take the Support of the Transcendent Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਿ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦੇਵਸੀ ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ॥ aap rakhai aap devasee aape pratipaarai | He Himself preserves, and He Himself gives. He Himself cherishes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
