ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥ jap man raam naam rasanaa | Chant the Name of the Lord with your tongue, O mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ masatak likhat likhe gur paaeaa har hiradai har basanaa |1| rahaau | According to the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead, I have found the Guru, and the Lord abides within my heart. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਰਸਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥ maaeaa girasat bhramat hai praanee rakh levahu jan apanaa | Entangled in Maya, the mortal wanders around. Save Your humble servant, O Lord, - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਹਰਣਾਖਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥ jiau prahilaad haranaakhas grasio har raakhio har saranaa |2| as you saved Prahlaad from the clutches of Harnaakash; keep him in Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਾ ॥ kavan kavan kee gat mit kaheeai har kee patit pavanaa | How can I describe the state and the condition, O Lord, of those many sinners you have purified? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਹੁ ਢੋਵੈ ਢੋਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਚਮੁ ਚਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥ ohu dtovai dtor haath cham chamare har udhario pario saranaa |3| Ravi Daas, the leather-worker, who worked with hides and carried dead animals was saved, by entering the Lord’s Sanctuary. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਹੀਨ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੧॥ kar kirapaa rakh levahu mere tthaakur ham paathar heen akaramaa |1| Have Mercy upon me, and save me, O my Lord and Master; I am a lowly stone, with no good karma at all. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਰਾਖੁ ਉਪਮਾ ॥ har jan sevak se har taare ham niragun raakh upamaa | The humble servants of the Lord are saved by the Lord; I am worthless - it is Your glory to save me. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਵਡੇ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥੨॥ tujh bin avar na koee mere tthaakur har japeeai vadde karamaa |2| I have no other than You, O my Lord and Master; I meditate on the Lord, by my good karma. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਮਹੀਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਡ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੰਮਾ ॥ naamaheen dhrig jeevate tin vadd dookh sahamaa | Those who lack the Naam, the Name of the Lord, their lives are cursed, and they must endure terrible pain. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀ ਮੂੜ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੩॥ oe fir fir jon bhavaaeeeh mandabhaagee moorr akaramaa |3| They are consigned to reincarnation over and over again; they are the most unfortunate fools, with no good karma at all. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਵਡ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ har jan naam adhaar hai dhur poorab likhe vadd karamaa | The Naam is the Support of the Lord’s humble servants; their good karma is pre-ordained. - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਮਰਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲੁਭਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰਾ ॥ hamaraa chit lubhat mohi bikhiaa bahu duramat mail bharaa | My consciousness is lured by emotional attachment and corruption; is is filled with evil-minded filth. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨ ਸਕਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਤਰਾ ॥੧॥ tumaree sevaa kar na sakah prabh ham kiau kar mugadh taraa |1| I cannot serve You, O God; I am ignorant - how can I cross over? ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jan aoopar kirapaa prabh dhaaree mil satigur paar paraa |1| rahaau | God has showered His Mercy upon His humble servant; meeting with the True Guru, he is carried across. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਜਸੁ ਕਰਾ ॥ hamare pitaa tthaakur prabh suaamee har dehu matee jas karaa | O my Father, my Lord and Master, Lord God, please bless me with such understanding, that I may sing Your Praises. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਲੋਹ ਤਰਾ ॥੨॥ tumarai sang lage se udhare jiau sang kaasatt loh taraa |2| Those who are attached to You are saved, like iron which is carried across with wood. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਮਧਿਮ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕਰਾ ॥ saakat nar hochhee mat madhim jina har har sev na karaa | The faithless cynics have little or no understanding; they do not serve the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੇ ਨਰ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀ ਓਇ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਾ ॥੩॥ te nar bhaagaheen duhachaaree oe janam mue fir maraa |3| Those beings are unfortunate and vicious; they die, and are consigned to reincarnation, over and over again. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮੑ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਨੑਾਏ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਾ ॥ jin kau tuma har melahu suaamee te naae santokh gur saraa | Those whom You unite with Yourself, O Lord and Master, bathe in the Guru’s cleansing pool of contentment. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥ duramat mail gee har bhajiaa jan naanak paar paraa |4|3| Vibrating upon the Lord, the filth of their evil-mindedness is washed away; servant Nanak is carried across. ||4||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਹੈ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ har har naam bohith hai kalajug khevatt gur sabad tarahu |1| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the boat in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; the Word of the Guru’s Shabad is the boatman to ferry us across. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
