ਕਿਆ ਤੂ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਾਗੁ ਇਆਨਾ ॥ kiaa too soeaa jaag eaanaa | Why are you asleep? Wake up, you ignorant fool! - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਤੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਜਗਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tai jeevan jag sach kar jaanaa |1| rahaau | You believe that your life in the world is true. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਦੀਆ ਸੁ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਅੰਬਰਾਵੈ ॥ jin jeeo deea su rijak anbaraavai | The One who gave you life shall also provide you with nourishment. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸਭ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਾਟੁ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥ sabh ghatt bheetar haatt chalaavai | In each and every heart, He runs His shop. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਿਗੀ ਛਾਡਿ ਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ kar bandigee chhaadd mai meraa | Meditate on the Lord, and renounce your egotism and self-conceit. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੨॥ hiradai naam samaar saveraa |2| Within your heart, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, sometime. ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਰਾਨੋ ਪੰਥੁ ਨ ਸਵਾਰਾ ॥ janam siraano panth na savaaraa | Your life has passed away, but you have not arranged your path. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸਾਂਝ ਪਰੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥ saanjh paree deh dis andhiaaraa | Evening has set in, and soon there will be darkness on all sides. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥ keh ravidaas nidaan divaane | Says Ravi Daas, O ignorant mad-man, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਚੇਤਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਫਨ ਖਾਨੇ ॥੩॥੨॥ chetas naahee duneea fan khaane |3|2| don’t you realize, that this world is the house of death?! ||3||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji

ਊਚੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਲ ਰਸੋਈ ॥ aooche mandar saal rasoee | You may have lofty mansions, halls and kitchens. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਏਕ ਘਰੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ek gharee fun rehan na hoee |1| But you cannot stay in them, even for an instant, after death. ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਘਾਸ ਕੀ ਟਾਟੀ ॥ eihu tan aisaa jaise ghaas kee ttaattee | This body is like a house of straw. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਲਿ ਗਇਓ ਘਾਸੁ ਰਲਿ ਗਇਓ ਮਾਟੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jal geo ghaas ral geo maattee |1| rahaau | When it is burnt, it mixes with dust. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਭਾਈ ਬੰਧ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਹੇਰਾ ॥ bhaaee bandh kuttanb saheraa | Even relatives, family and friends begin to say, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਓਇ ਭੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਾਢੁ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੨॥ oe bhee laage kaadt saveraa |2| “Take his body out, immediately!” ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਘਰ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਉਰਹਿ ਤਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ ghar kee naar ureh tan laagee | And the wife of his house, who was so attached to his body and heart, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਉਹ ਤਉ ਭੂਤੁ ਭੂਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੩॥ auh tau bhoot bhoot kar bhaagee |3| runs away, crying out, “Ghost! Ghost!” ||3|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਸਭੈ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਟਿਆ ॥ keh ravidaas sabhai jag loottiaa | Says Ravi Daas, the whole world has been plundered, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਹਮ ਤਉ ਏਕ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਹਿ ਛੂਟਿਆ ॥੪॥੩॥ ham tau ek raam keh chhoottiaa |4|3| but I have escaped, chanting the Name of the One Lord. ||4||3|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji

ਤਪਿ ਤਪਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਮਰੋਰਉ ॥ tap tap luhi luhi haath marorau | Burning and burning, writhing in pain, I wring my hands. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਬਾਵਲਿ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਲੋਰਉ ॥ baaval hoee so sahu lorau | I have gone insane, seeking my Husband Lord. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਰੋਸੁ ॥ tai seh man meh keea ros | O my Husband Lord, You are angry with me in Your Mind. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਮੁਝੁ ਅਵਗਨ ਸਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥ mujh avagan seh naahee dos |1| The fault is with me, and not with my Husband Lord. ||1|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ tai saahib kee mai saar na jaanee | O my Lord and Master, I do not know Your excellence and worth. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਜੋਬਨੁ ਖੋਇ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ joban khoe paachhai pachhutaanee |1| rahaau | Having wasted my youth, now I come to regret and repent. ||1||Pause|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਇਲ ਤੂ ਕਿਤ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਲੀ ॥ kaalee koeil too kit gun kaalee | O black bird, what qualities have made you black? - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਬਿਰਹੈ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ apane preetam ke hau birahai jaalee | “I have been burnt by separation from my Beloved.” - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਪਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ pireh bihoon kateh sukh paae | Without her Husband Lord, how can the soul-bride ever find peace? - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ jaa hoe kripaal taa prabhoo milaae |2| When He becomes merciful, then God unites us with Himself. ||2|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਵਿਧਣ ਖੂਹੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥ vidhan khoohee mundh ikelee | The lonely soul-bride suffers in the pit of the world. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ॥ naa ko saathee naa ko belee | She has no companions, and no friends. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ॥ kar kirapaa prabh saadhasang melee | In His Mercy, God has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਲਹੁ ਬੇਲੀ ॥੩॥ jaa fir dekhaa taa meraa alahu belee |3| And when I look again, then I find God as my Helper. ||3|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਵਾਟ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀ ॥ vaatt hamaaree kharee uddeenee | The path upon which I must walk is very depressing. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਖੰਨਿਅਹੁ ਤਿਖੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਈਣੀ ॥ khaniahu tikhee bahut pieenee | It is sharper than a two-edged sword, and very narrow. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਉਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ aus aoopar hai maarag meraa | That is where my path lies. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ sekh fareedaa panth samaar saveraa |4|1| O Shaykh Fareed, think of that path early on. ||4||1|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਸੂਹੀ ਲਲਿਤ ॥ soohee lalit | Soohee, Lalit: - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਬੇੜਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਨ ਸਕਿਓ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੀ ਵੇਲਾ ॥ berraa bandh na sakio bandhan kee velaa | You were not able to make yourself a raft when you should have. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਭਰਿ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਜਬ ਊਛਲੈ ਤਬ ਤਰਣੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥ bhar saravar jab aoochhalai tab taran duhelaa |1| When the ocean is churning and over-flowing, then it is very difficult to cross over it. ||1|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਹਥੁ ਨ ਲਾਇ ਕਸੁੰਭੜੈ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਢੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hath na laae kasunbharrai jal jaasee dtolaa |1| rahaau | Do not touch the safflower with your hands; its color will fade away, my dear. ||1||Pause|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਇਕ ਆਪੀਨੑੈ ਪਤਲੀ ਸਹ ਕੇਰੇ ਬੋਲਾ ॥ eik aapeenai patalee seh kere bolaa | First, the bride herself is weak, and then, her Husband Lord’s Order is hard to bear. - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਦੁਧਾ ਥਣੀ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਲਾ ॥੨॥ dudhaa thanee na aavee fir hoe na melaa |2| Milk does not return to the breast; it will not be collected again. ||2|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਕਹੈ ਫਰੀਦੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਹੁ ਅਲਾਏਸੀ ॥ kahai fareed saheleeho sahu alaaesee | Says Fareed, O my companions, when our Husband Lord calls, - Sheikh Farid Ji
ਹੰਸੁ ਚਲਸੀ ਡੁੰਮਣਾ ਅਹਿ ਤਨੁ ਢੇਰੀ ਥੀਸੀ ॥੩॥੨॥ hans chalasee ddunmanaa eh tan dteree theesee |3|2| the soul departs, sad at heart, and this body returns to dust. ||3||2|| - Sheikh Farid Ji
