ਸੂਹੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਲਲਿਤ ॥ soohee kabeer jeeo lalit | Soohee, Kabeer Jee, Lallit: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਥਾਕੇ ਨੈਨ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਥਾਕੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਕਾਇਆ ॥ thaake nain sravan sun thaake thaakee sundar kaaeaa | My eyes are exhausted, and my ears are tired of hearing; my beautiful body is exhausted. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਰਾ ਹਾਕ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਮਤਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਏਕ ਨ ਥਾਕਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ jaraa haak dee sabh mat thaakee ek na thaakas maaeaa |1| Driven forward by old age, all my senses are exhausted; only my attachment to Maya is not exhausted. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਾਵਰੇ ਤੈ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ baavare tai giaan beechaar na paaeaa | O mad man, you have not obtained spiritual wisdom and meditation. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ birathaa janam gavaaeaa |1| rahaau | You have wasted this human life, and lost. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਸਾ ॥ tab lag praanee tisai sarevahu jab lag ghatt meh saasaa | O mortal, serve the Lord, as long as the breath of life remains in the body. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੇ ਘਟੁ ਜਾਇ ਤ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੨॥ je ghatt jaae ta bhaau na jaasee har ke charan nivaasaa |2| And even when your body dies, your love for the Lord shall not die; you shall dwell at the Feet of the Lord. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਬਸਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥ jis kau sabad basaavai antar chookai tiseh piaasaa | When the Word of the Shabad abides deep within, thirst and desire are quenched. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਚਉਪੜਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਿ ਢਾਲੇ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੩॥ hukamai boojhai chauparr khelai man jin dtaale paasaa |3| When one understands the Hukam of the Lord’s Command, he plays the game of chess with the Lord; throwing the dice, he conquers his own mind. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਜਾਨਿ ਭਜਹਿ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਕਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਨਾਸਾ ॥ jo jan jaan bhajeh abigat kau tin kaa kachhoo na naasaa | Those humble beings, who know the Imperishable Lord and meditate on Him, are not destroyed at all. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਹਾਰਹਿ ਢਾਲਿ ਜੁ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੪॥ kahu kabeer te jan kabahu na haareh dtaal ju jaaneh paasaa |4|4| Says Kabeer, those humble beings who know how to throw these dice, never lose the game of life. ||4||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਏਕੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਪੰਚ ਸਿਕਦਾਰਾ ਪੰਚੇ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਾਲਾ ॥ ek kott panch sikadaaraa panche maageh haalaa | In the one fortress of the body, there are five rulers, and all five demand payment of taxes. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਿਮੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੀ ਬੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਦੇਨੁ ਦੁਖਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ jimee naahee mai kisee kee boee aisaa den dukhaalaa |1| I have not farmed anyone’s land, so such payment is difficult for me to pay. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਨੀਤਿ ਡਸੈ ਪਟਵਾਰੀ ॥ har ke logaa mo kau neet ddasai pattavaaree | O people of the Lord, the tax-collector is constantly torturing me! - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਊਪਰਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਉ ਲੀਆ ਉਬਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aoopar bhujaa kar mai gur peh pukaariaa tin hau leea ubaaree |1| rahaau | Raising my arms up, I complained to my Guru, and He has saved me. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਉ ਡਾਡੀ ਦਸ ਮੁੰਸਫ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਰਈਅਤਿ ਬਸਨ ਨ ਦੇਹੀ ॥ nau ddaaddee das munsaf dhaaveh reeat basan na dehee | The nine tax-assessors and the ten magistrates go out; they do not allow their subjects to live in peace. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਡੋਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਾਪਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਸਟਾਲਾ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੨॥ ddoree pooree maapeh naahee bahu bisattaalaa lehee |2| They do not measure with a full tape, and they take huge amounts in bribes. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਹਤਰਿ ਘਰ ਇਕੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਉਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਿਖਾਈ ॥ bahatar ghar ik purakh samaaeaa un deea naam likhaaee | The One Lord is contained in the seventy-two chambers of the body, and He has written off my account. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾ ਦਫਤਰੁ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਬਾਕੀ ਰਿਜਮ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥੩॥ dharam raae kaa dafatar sodhiaa baakee rijam na kaaee |3| The records of the Righteous Judge of Dharma have been searched, and I owe absolutely nothing. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੰਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਤਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਰਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਏਕੋੁ ॥ santaa kau mat koee nindahu sant raam hai ekuo | Let no one slander the Saints, because the Saints and the Lord are as one. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ਬਿਬੇਕੋੁ ॥੪॥੫॥ kahu kabeer mai so gur paaeaa jaa kaa naau bibekuo |4|5| Says Kabeer, I have found that Guru, whose Name is Clear Understanding. ||4||5|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਸਹ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ seh kee saar suhaagan jaanai | The happy soul-bride knows the worth of her Husband Lord. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਸੁਖ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ taj abhimaan sukh raleea maanai | Renouncing pride, she enjoys peace and pleasure. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ tan man dee na antar raakhai | She surrenders her body and mind to Him, and does not remain separate from Him. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਅਵਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਸੁਨੈ ਅਭਾਖੈ ॥੧॥ avaraa dekh na sunai abhaakhai |1| She does not see or hear, or speak to another. ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸੋ ਕਤ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥ so kat jaanai peer paraaee | How can anyone know the pain of another, - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦਰਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jaa kai antar darad na paaee |1| rahaau | if there is no compassion and sympathy within? ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਦੁਖੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਦੁਇ ਪਖ ਹੀਨੀ ॥ dukhee duhaagan due pakh heenee | The discarded bride is miserable, and loses both worlds; - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਹ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ॥ jin naah nirantar bhagat na keenee | she does not worship her Husband Lord. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਪੁਰ ਸਲਾਤ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥ pur salaat kaa panth duhelaa | The bridge over the fire of hell is difficult and treacherous. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਸਾਥੀ ਗਵਨੁ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥੨॥ sang na saathee gavan ikelaa |2| No one will accompany you there; you will have to go all alone. ||2|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਦੁਖੀਆ ਦਰਦਵੰਦੁ ਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ dukheea daradavand dar aaeaa | Suffering in pain, I have come to Your Door, O Compassionate Lord. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਬਾਬੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ bahut piaas jabaab na paaeaa | I am so thirsty for You, but You do not answer me. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ keh ravidaas saran prabh teree | Says Ravi Daas, I seek Your Sanctuary, God; - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਕਰੁ ਗਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੩॥੧॥ jiau jaanahu tiau kar gat meree |3|1| as You know me, so will You save me. ||3||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji

ਕਰਨਾ ਕੂਚੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ karanaa kooch rehan thir naahee | You must march on; nothing remains stable. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਸੰਗੁ ਚਲਤ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਭੀ ਚਲਨਾ ॥ sang chalat hai ham bhee chalanaa | Our companions are leaving, and we must leave as well. - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
ਦੂਰਿ ਗਵਨੁ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ door gavan sir aoopar maranaa |1| We must go far away. Death is hovering over our heads. ||1|| - Bhagat Ravidas Ji
