ਪੂਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ pooraa purakh paaeaa vaddabhaagee sach naam liv laavai | One obtains the Perfect Primal Lord, by great good fortune, lovingly focusing on the True Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਤਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ mat paragaas bhee man maaniaa raam naam vaddiaaee | The intellect is enlightened, and the mind is satisfied, through the glory of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥ naanak prabh paaeaa sabad milaaeaa jotee jot milaaee |4|1|4| O Nanak, God is found, merging in the Shabad, and one’s light blends into the Light. ||4||1||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈਆਸੇ ॥ gur sant jano piaaraa mai miliaa meree trisanaa bujh geeaase | O humble Saints, I have met my Beloved Guru; the fire of my desire is quenched, and my yearning is gone. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੈ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੇ ॥ hau man tan devaa satigurai mai mele prabh gunataase | I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਬਾਸੇ ॥ dhan dhan guroo vadd purakh hai mai dase har saabaase | Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Supreme Being, who tells me of the most blessed Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੇ ॥੧॥ vaddabhaagee har paaeaa jan naanak naam vigaase |1| By great good fortune, servant Nanak has found the Lord; he blossoms forth in the Naam. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਹਾ ॥ gur sajan piaaraa mai miliaa har maarag panth dasaahaa | I have met my Beloved Friend, the Guru, who has shown me the Path to the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਹਾ ॥ ghar aavahu chiree vichhuniaa mil sabad guroo prabh naahaa | Come home - I have been separated from You for so long! Please, let me merge with You, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, O my Lord God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਤੁਝੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਾਹਾ ॥ hau tujh baajhahu kharee uddeeneea jiau jal bin meen maraahaa | Without You, I am so sad; like a fish out of water, I shall die. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥ vaddabhaagee har dhiaaeaa jan naanak naam samaahaa |2| The very fortunate ones meditate on the Lord; servant Nanak merges into the Naam. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥ man deh dis chal chal bharamiaa manamukh bharam bhulaaeaa | The mind runs around in the ten directions; the self-willed manmukh wanders around, deluded by doubt. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਲਗਾਇਆ ॥ nit aasaa man chitavai man trisanaa bhukh lagaaeaa | In his mind, he continually conjures up hopes; his mind is gripped by hunger and thirst. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਨਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਰਿ ਦਬਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਾਲਣ ਗਇਆ ॥ anataa dhan dhar dabiaa fir bikh bhaalan geaa | There is an infinite treasure buried within the mind, but still, he goes out, searching for poison. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥੩॥ jan naanak naam salaeh too bin naavai pach pach mueaa |3| O servant Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Name, he rots away, and wastes away to death. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਮੋਹਨੁ ਪਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ gur sundar mohan paae kare har prem baanee man maariaa | Finding the beautiful and fascinating Guru, I have conquered my mind, through the Bani, the Word of my Beloved Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਮਨ ਆਸਾ ਚਿੰਤ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ merai hiradai sudh budh visar gee man aasaa chint visaariaa | My heart has forgotten its common sense and wisdom; my mind has forgotten its hopes and cares. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵੇਦਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖਤ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ mai antar vedan prem kee gur dekhat man saadhaariaa | Deep within my self, I feel the pains of divine love. Beholding the Guru, my mind is comforted and consoled. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥ vaddabhaagee prabh aae mil jan naanak khin khin vaariaa |4|1|5| Awaken my good destiny, O God - please, come and meet me! Each and every instant, servant Nanak is a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਮਾਰੇਹਿਸੁ ਵੇ ਜਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਣ ਨ ਦਿਤੀਆ ॥ maarehis ve jan haumai bikhiaa jin har prabh milan na diteea | Eradicate the poison of egotism, O human being; it is holding you back from meeting your Lord God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦੇਹ ਕੰਚਨ ਵੇ ਵੰਨੀਆ ਇਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੀਆ ॥ deh kanchan ve vaneea in haumai maar viguteea | This golden-colored body has been disfigured and ruined by egotism. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਲਖਾ ਇਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੂੜਿ ਸਜੁਤੀਆ ॥ mohu maaeaa ve sabh kaalakhaa in manamukh moorr sajuteea | Attachment to Maya is total darkness; this foolish, self-willed manmukh is attached to it. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀਆ ॥੧॥ jan naanak guramukh ubare gurasabadee haumai chhutteea |1| O servant Nanak, the Gurmukh is saved; through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, he is released from egotism. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਸਿ ਆਣਿਹੁ ਵੇ ਜਨ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਸੇ ਜਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਭਉਦਿਆ ॥ vas aanihu ve jan is man kau man baase jiau nit bhaudiaa | Overcome and subdue this mind; your mind wanders around continually, like a falcon. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਵੇ ਵਿਹਾਣੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੇਦਿਆ ॥ dukh rain ve vihaaneea nit aasaa aas karediaa | The mortal’s life-night passes painfully, in constant hope and desire. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਚਉਦਿਆ ॥ gur paaeaa ve sant jano man aas pooree har chaudiaa | I have found the Guru, O humble Saints; my mind’s hopes are fulfilled, chanting the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਛਡਿ ਆਸਾ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਉਦਿਆ ॥੨॥ jan naanak prabh dehu matee chhadd aasaa nit sukh saudiaa |2| Please bless servant Nanak, O God, with such understanding, that abandoning false hopes, he may always sleep in peace. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਆਸਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਜੜੀਐ ਆਈ ॥ saa dhan aasaa chit kare raam raajiaa har prabh sejarreeai aaee | The bride hopes in her mind, that her Sovereign Lord God will come to her bed. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥ meraa tthaakur agam deaal hai raam raajiaa kar kirapaa lehu milaaee | My Lord and Master is infinitely compassionate; O Sovereign Lord, be merciful, and merge me into Yourself. - Guru Ramdas Ji
