ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਖੋਈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ andarahu duramat doojee khoee so jan har liv laagaa | One who eliminates evil-mindedness and duality from within himself, that humble being lovingly focuses his mind on the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥ jin kau kripaa keenee merai suaamee tin anadin har gun gaae | Those, upon whom my Lord and Master bestows His Grace, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਭੀਨੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੨॥ sun man bheene sehaj subhaae |2| Hearing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I am intuitively drenched with His Love. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥ jug meh raam naam nisataaraa | In this age, emancipation comes only from the Lord’s Name. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ gur te upajai sabad veechaaraa | Contemplative meditation on the Word of the Shabad emanates from the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ gurasabad veechaaraa raam naam piaaraa jis kirapaa kare su paae | Contemplating the Guru’s Shabad, one comes to love the Lord’s Name; he alone obtains it, unto whom the Lord shows Mercy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ sahaje gun gaavai din raatee kilavikh sabh gavaae | In peace and poise, he sings the Lord’s Praises day and night, and all sins are eradicated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥ sabh ko teraa too sabhanaa kaa hau teraa too hamaaraa | All are Yours, and You belong to all. I am Yours, and You are mine. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਹੀ ॥ har gun gaaveh tripat aghaahee | singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, one is satisfied and fulfilled. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਏ ॥ har gun gaae sadaa tripataasee fir bhookh na laagai aae | Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, one is satisfied forever, never to feel hunger again. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ deh dis pooj hovai har jan kee jo har har naam dhiaae | That humble servant of the Lord, who meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is worshipped in the ten directions. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ naanak har aape jorr vichhorre har bin ko doojaa naahee | O Nanak, He Himself joins and separates; there is no other than the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ bhagat janaa kee har jeeo raakhai jug jug rakhadaa aaeaa raam | The Dear Lord protects His humble devotees; throughout the ages, He has protected them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ so bhagat jo guramukh hovai haumai sabad jalaaeaa raam | Those devotees who become Gurmukh burn away their ego, through the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ haumai sabad jalaaeaa mere har bhaaeaa jis dee saachee baanee | Those who burn away their ego through the Shabad, become pleasing to my Lord; their speech becomes True. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ sachee bhagat kareh din raatee guramukh aakh vakhaanee | They perform the Lord’s true devotional service, day and night, as the Guru has instructed them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਲ ਸਚੀ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ bhagataa kee chaal sachee at niramal naam sachaa man bhaaeaa | The devotees’ lifestyle is true, and absolutely pure; the True Name is pleasing to their minds. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ naanak bhagat soheh dar saachai jinee sacho sach kamaaeaa |1| O Nanak, the those devotees, who practice Truth, and only Truth, look beauteous in the Court of the True Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ har bhagataa kee jaat pat hai bhagat har kai naam samaane raam | The Lord is the social class and honor of His devotees; the Lord’s devotees merge in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਪਛਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ har bhagat kareh vichahu aap gavaaveh jin gun avagan pachhaane raam | They worship the Lord in devotion, and eradicate self-conceit from within themselves; they understand merits and demerits. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਅਉਗਣ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਭੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ gun aaugan pachhaanai har naam vakhaanai bhai bhagat meetthee laagee | They understand merits and demerits, and chant the Lord’s Name; devotional worship is sweet to them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ anadin bhagat kareh din raatee ghar hee meh bairaagee | Night and day, they perform devotional worship, day and night, and in the home of the self, they remain detached. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ bhagatee raate sadaa man niramal har jeeo vekheh sadaa naale | Imbued with devotion, their minds remain forever immaculate and pure; they see their Dear Lord always with them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ॥੨॥ naanak se bhagat har kai dar saache anadin naam samaale |2| O Nanak, those devotees are True in the Court of the Lord; night and day, they dwell upon the Naam. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ manamukh bhagat kareh bin satigur vin satigur bhagat na hoee raam | The self-willed manmukhs practice devotional rituals without the True Guru, but without the True Guru, there is no devotion. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ haumai maaeaa rog viaape mar janameh dukh hoee raam | They are afflicted with the diseases of egotism and Maya, and they suffer the pains of death and rebirth. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਰਜ ਵਿਗੋਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ mar janameh dukh hoee doojai bhaae paraj vigoee vin gur tat na jaaniaa | The world suffers the pains of death and rebirth, and through the love of duality, it is ruined; without the Guru, the essence of reality is not known. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਿਆ ॥ bhagat vihoonaa sabh jag bharamiaa ant geaa pachhutaaniaa | Without devotional worship, everyone in the world is deluded and confused, and in the end, they depart with regrets. - Guru Amardas Ji
