ਭਾਗਠੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੇ ਜਿਨੑ ਘਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ bhaagattharre har sant tumaare jina ghar dhan har naamaa | Your Saints are very fortunate; their homes are filled with the wealth of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਣੀ ਸੇਈ ਇਹ ਆਏ ਸਫਲ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ paravaan ganee seee ih aae safal tinaa ke kaamaa |1| Their birth is approved, and their actions are fruitful. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ mere raam har jan kai hau bal jaaee | O my Lord, I am a sacrifice to the humble servants of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੇਸਾ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਚਵਰੁ ਢੁਲਾਵਾ ਚਰਣ ਧੂੜਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kesaa kaa kar chavar dtulaavaa charan dhoorr mukh laaee |1| rahaau | I make my hair into a fan, and wave it over them; I apply the dust of their feet to my face. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਆਏ ॥ janam maran duhahoo meh naahee jan praupakaaree aae | Those generous, humble beings are above both birth and death. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ jeea daan de bhagatee laaein har siau lain milaae |2| They give the gift of the soul, and practice devotional worship; they inspire others to meet the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਚਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚੀ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ॥ sachaa amar sachee paatisaahee sache setee raate | True are their commands, and true are their empires; they are attuned to the Truth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਚੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੩॥ sachaa sukh sachee vaddiaaee jis ke se tin jaate |3| True is their happiness, and true is their greatness. They know the Lord, to whom they belong. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਖਾ ਫੇਰੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਪੀਸਣੁ ਪੀਸਿ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥ pakhaa feree paanee dtovaa har jan kai peesan pees kamaavaa | I wave the fan over them, carry water for them, and grind corn for the humble servants of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਿ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਣੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੪॥ naanak kee prabh paas benantee tere jan dekhan paavaa |4|7|54| Nanak offers this prayer to God - please, grant me the sight of Your humble servants. ||4||7||54|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥ paarabraham paramesar satigur aape karanaihaaraa | The True Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God; He Himself is the Creator Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਣ ਧੂੜਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ charan dhoorr teree sevak maagai tere darasan kau balihaaraa |1| Your servant begs for the dust of Your feet. I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ॥ mere raam raae jiau raakheh tiau raheeai | O my Sovereign Lord, as You keep me, so do I remain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tudh bhaavai taa naam japaaveh sukh teraa ditaa laheeai |1| rahaau | When it pleases You, I chant Your Name. You alone can grant me peace. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਇਹਿ ॥ mukat bhugat jugat teree sevaa jis toon aap karaaeihi | Liberation, comfort and proper lifestyle come from serving You; You alone cause us to serve You. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਹਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੁ ਜਹ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਲਾਇਹਿ ॥੨॥ tahaa baikuntth jeh keeratan teraa toon aape saradhaa laaeihi |2| That place is heaven, where the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises are sung. You Yourself instill faith into us. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥ simar simar simar naam jeevaa tan man hoe nihaalaa | Meditating, meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Naam, I live; my mind and body are enraptured. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੩॥ charan kamal tere dhoe dhoe peevaa mere satigur deen deaalaa |3| I wash Your Lotus Feet, and drink in this water, O my True Guru, O Merciful to the meek. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜਾਈ ਉਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਆਇਆ ॥ kurabaan jaaee us velaa suhaavee jit tumarai duaarai aaeaa | I am a sacrifice to that most wonderful time when I came to Your Door. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੫॥ naanak kau prabh bhe kripaalaa satigur pooraa paaeaa |4|8|55| God has become compassionate to Nanak; I have found the Perfect True Guru. ||4||8||55|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤੁਧੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਏ ॥ tudh chit aae mahaa anandaa jis visareh so mar jaae | When You come to mind, I am totally in bliss. One who forgets You might just as well be dead. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੧॥ deaal hoveh jis aoopar karate so tudh sadaa dhiaae |1| That being, whom You bless with Your Mercy, O Creator Lord, constantly meditates on You. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੂੰ ਮੈ ਮਾਣੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥ mere saahib toon mai maan nimaanee | O my Lord and Master, You are the honor of the dishonored such as me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਗੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aradaas karee prabh apane aagai sun sun jeevaa teree baanee |1| rahaau | I offer my prayer to You, God; listening, listening to the Word of Your Bani, I live. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਣ ਧੂੜਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ charan dhoorr tere jan kee hovaa tere darasan kau bal jaaee | May I become the dust of the feet of Your humble servants. I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਤਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥ amrit bachan ridai ur dhaaree tau kirapaa te sang paaee |2| I enshrine Your Ambrosial Word within my heart. By Your Grace, I have found the Company of the Holy. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਹਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ antar kee gat tudh peh saaree tudh jevadd avar na koee | I place the state of my inner being before You; there is no other as great as You. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਲੈਹਿ ਸੋ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਗਤੁ ਤੁਹਾਰਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ jis no laae laihi so laagai bhagat tuhaaraa soee |3| He alone is attached, whom You attach; he alone is Your devotee. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਮਾਗਉ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਵਾ ॥ due kar jorr maagau ik daanaa saahib tutthai paavaa | With my palms pressed together, I beg for this one gift; O my Lord and Master, if it pleases You, I shall obtain it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੫੬॥ saas saas naanak aaraadhe aatth pehar gun gaavaa |4|9|56| With each and every breath, Nanak adores You; twenty-four hours a day, I sing Your Glorious Praises. ||4||9||56|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ jis ke sir aoopar toon suaamee so dukh kaisaa paavai | When You stand over our heads, O Lord and Master, how can we suffer in pain? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥ bol na jaanai maaeaa mad maataa maranaa cheet na aavai |1| The mortal being does not know how to chant Your Name - he is intoxicated with the wine of Maya, and the thought of death does not even enter his mind. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
