ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਏਕੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋ ਲੇਖੈ ਸੰਤ ਲਾਗੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਛਾਡੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਕੀ ਕੁਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jap man gobind ekai avar nahee ko lekhai sant laag maneh chhaadd dubidhaa kee kureea |1| rahaau | Meditate, O mind, on the One Lord of the Universe - nothing else is of any account. ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਹਰੀਆ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਧਰੀਆ ਅਨਿਕ ਕੋਠਰੀਆ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿਨ ਕਰੀਆ ॥ niragun hareea saragun dhareea anik kotthareea bhin bhin bhin bhin kareea | The Lord is absolute and unmanifest; He has assumed the most sublime manifestation. He has fashioned countless body chambers of many, varied, different, myriad forms. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਿਚਿ ਮਨ ਕੋਟਵਰੀਆ ॥ vich man kottavareea | Within them, the mind is the policeman; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਜ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਪਿਰੀਆ ॥ nij mandar pireea | my Beloved lives in the temple of my inner self. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਹਾ ਆਨਦ ਕਰੀਆ ॥ tahaa aanad kareea | He plays there in ecstasy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਹ ਮਰੀਆ ਨਹ ਜਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ neh mareea neh jareea |1| He does not die, and he never grows old. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਰਤਨਿ ਜੁਰੀਆ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਫਿਰੀਆ ਪਰ ਕਉ ਹਿਰੀਆ ॥ kiratan jureea bahu bidh fireea par kau hireea | He is engrossed in worldly activities, wandering around in various ways. He steals the property of others, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਖਨਾ ਘਿਰੀਆ ॥ bikhanaa ghireea | and is surrounded by corruption and sin. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰੀਆ ॥ ab saadhoo sang pareea | But now, he joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਖਰੀਆ ॥ har duaarai khareea | and stands before the Lord’s Gate. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਕਰੀਆ ॥ darasan kareea | He obtains the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਰੀਆ ॥ naanak gur mireea | Nanak has met the Guru; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਫਿਰੀਆ ॥੨॥੧॥੪੪॥ bahur na fireea |2|1|44| he shall not be reincarnated again. ||2||1||44|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰਾਸਿ ਮੰਡਲੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਆਖਾਰਾ ॥ raas manddal keeno aakhaaraa | The Lord has made this world a stage; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲੋ ਸਾਜਿ ਰਖਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sagalo saaj rakhio paasaaraa |1| rahaau | He fashioned the expanse of the entire creation. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਆਪਾਰਾ ॥ bahu bidh roop rang aapaaraa | He fashioned it in various ways, with limitless colors and forms. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੇਖੈ ਖੁਸੀ ਭੋਗ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰਾ ॥ pekhai khusee bhog nahee haaraa | He watches over it with joy, and He never tires of enjoying it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭਿ ਰਸ ਲੈਤ ਬਸਤ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ sabh ras lait basat niraaraa |1| He enjoys all the delights, and yet He remains unattached. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਰਨੁ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਖੁ ਨ ਮਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ baran chihan naahee mukh na maasaaraa | He has no color, no sign, no mouth and no beard. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਖੇਲੁ ਤੁਹਾਰਾ ॥ kehan na jaaee khel tuhaaraa | I cannot describe Your play. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੇਣ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੪੫॥ naanak ren sant charanaaraa |2|2|45| Nanak is the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||2||2||45|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭਰੋਸੈ ਆਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਇਆ ॥ bharosai aaeaa kirapaa aaeaa | I have come to place my faith in You. I have come seeking Mercy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਪਠਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jiau bhaavai tiau raakhahu suaamee maarag gureh patthaaeaa |1| rahaau | If it pleases You, save me, O my Lord and Master. The Guru has placed me upon the Path. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ mahaa dutar maaeaa | Maya is very treacherous and difficult to pass through. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ jaise pavan jhulaaeaa |1| It is like a violent wind-storm. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੀ ਡਰਾਇਆ ॥ sun sun hee ddaraaeaa | I am so afraid to hear - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਰੋ ਧ੍ਰਮਰਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ kararo dhramaraaeaa |2| that the Righteous Judge of Dharma is so strict and stern. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪਾਇਆ ॥ grih andh koopaaeaa | The world is a deep, dark pit; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਵਕੁ ਸਗਰਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ paavak sagaraaeaa |3| it is all on fire. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹੀ ਓਟ ਸਾਧਾਇਆ ॥ gahee ott saadhaaeaa | I have grasped the Support of the Holy Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ naanak har dhiaaeaa | Nanak meditates on the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤੁਠਾ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਤਾਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ tutthaa sachaa paatisaahu taap geaa sansaaraa |1| When the True King is pleased, the world is rid of its diseases. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਾਜੀਨਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ sach tere khaajeeniaa sach teraa paasaaraa |2| True are Your treasures, and True is Your expanse. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਅਨੂਪੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਾਰਾ ॥ teraa roop agam hai anoop teraa darasaaraa | Your Form is inaccessible, and Your Vision is incomparably beautiful. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
