ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ gur parasaadee ko viralaa chhoottai tis jan kau hau balihaaree |3| By Guru’s Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ jin sisatt saajee soee har jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro | The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥ naanak aape vekh har bigasai guramukh braham beechaaro |4|3|14| O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥ keetaa karanaa sarab rajaaee kichh keechai je kar sakeeai | All that happens, and all that will happen, is by His Will. If we could do something by ourselves, we would. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥ aapanaa keetaa kichhoo na hovai jiau har bhaavai tiau rakheeai |1| By ourselves, we cannot do anything at all. As it pleases the Lord, He preserves us. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ॥ mere har jeeo sabh ko terai vas | O my Dear Lord, everything is in Your power. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ asaa jor naahee je kichh kar ham saakah jiau bhaavai tivai bakhas |1| rahaau | I have no power to do anything at all. As it pleases You, You forgive us. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ sabh jeeo pindd deea tudh aape tudh aape kaarai laaeaa | You Yourself bless us with soul, body and everything. You Yourself cause us to act. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ jehaa toon hukam kareh tehe ko karam kamaavai jehaa tudh dhur likh paaeaa |2| As You issue Your Commands, so do we act, according to our pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ panch tat kar tudh srisatt sabh saajee koee chhevaa kariau je kichh keetaa hovai | You created the entire Universe out of the five elements; if anyone can create a sixth, let him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥ eikanaa satigur mel toon bujhaaveh ik manamukh kareh si rovai |3| You unite some with the True Guru, and cause them to understand, while others, the self-willed manmukhs, do their deeds and cry out in pain. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥ har kee vaddiaaee hau aakh na saakaa hau moorakh mugadh neechaan | I cannot describe the glorious greatness of the Lord; I am foolish, thoughtless, idiotic and lowly. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪਇਆ ਅਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥ jan naanak kau har bakhas lai mere suaamee saranaagat peaa ajaan |4|4|15|24| Please, forgive servant Nanak, O my Lord and Master; I am ignorant, but I have entered Your Sanctuary. ||4||4||15||24|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ baajeegar jaise baajee paaee | The actor stages the play, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥ naanaa roop bhekh dikhalaaee | playing the many characters in different costumes; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮਿੑਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ saang utaar thamao paasaaraa | but when the play ends, he takes off the costumes, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ tab eko ekankaaraa |1| and then he is one, and only one. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥ kavan roop drisattio binasaaeo | How many forms and images appeared and disappeared? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kateh geo uhu kat te aaeo |1| rahaau | Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥ jal te aoottheh anik tarangaa | Countless waves rise up from the water. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥ kanik bhookhan keene bahu rangaa | Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥ beej beej dekhio bahu parakaaraa | I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ fal paake te ekankaaraa |2|
- when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥ sehas ghattaa meh ek aakaas | The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ ghatt footte te ohee pragaas | but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ bharam lobh moh maaeaa vikaar | Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥ bhram chhootte te ekankaar |3| Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ ohu abinaasee binasat naahee | He is imperishable; He will never pass away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥ naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee | He does not come, and He does not go. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥ gur poorai haumai mal dhoee | The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ kahu naanak meree param gat hoee |4|1| Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ॥ keetaa lorreh so prabh hoe | Whatever God wills, that alone happens. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ tujh bin doojaa naahee koe | Without You, there is no other at all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥ jo jan seve tis pooran kaaj | The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥ daas apune kee raakhahu laaj |1| O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ teree saran pooran deaalaa | I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect, Merciful Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tujh bin kavan kare pratipaalaa |1| rahaau | Without You, who would cherish and love me? ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ jal thal maheeal rahiaa bharapoor | He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ nikatt vasai naahee prabh door | God dwells near at hand; He is not far away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ lok pateeaarai kachhoo na paaeeai | By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ saach lagai taa haumai jaaeeai |2| When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
