ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਕਰਿ ਰੰਙੁ ॥ mere man har raam naam kar rang | O my mind, enshrine love for the Name of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਰਾਉ ਨਿਸੰਙੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur tutthai har upadesiaa har bhettiaa raau nisang |1| rahaau | The Guru, satisfied and pleased, taught me about the Lord, and my Sovereign Lord King met with me at once. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਅੰਙੁ ॥ mundh eaanee manamukhee fir aavan jaanaa ang | The self-willed manmukh is like the ignorant bride, who comes and goes again and again in reincarnation. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਸਹਲੰਙੁ ॥੨॥ har prabh chit na aaeo man doojaa bhaau sehalang |2| The Lord God does not come into her consciousness, and her mind is stuck in the love of duality. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅੰਗੀ ਅੰਙੁ ॥ ham mail bhare duhachaareea har raakhahu angee ang | I am full of filth, and I practice evil deeds; O Lord, save me, be with me, merge me into Your Being! - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਵਲਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪੰਙੁ ॥੩॥ gur amrit sar navalaaeaa sabh laathe kilavikh pang |3| The Guru has bathed me in the pool of Ambrosial Nectar, and all my dirty sins and mistakes have been washed away. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਙੁ ॥ har deenaa deen deaal prabh satasangat melahu sang | O Lord God, Merciful to the meek and the poor, please unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੰਙੁ ॥੪॥੩॥ mil sangat har rang paaeaa jan naanak man tan rang |4|3| Joining the Sangat, servant Nanak has obtained the Lord’s Love; my mind and body are drenched in it. ||4||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ har har kareh nit kapatt kamaaveh hiradaa sudh na hoee | One who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, while constantly practicing deception, shall never become pure of heart. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ anadin karam kareh bahutere supanai sukh na hoee |1| He may perform all sorts of rituals, night and day, but he shall not find peace, even in dreams. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ giaanee gur bin bhagat na hoee | O wise ones, without the Guru, there is no devotional worship. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੜੈ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ korai rang kade na charrai je lochai sabh koee |1| rahaau | The untreated cloth does not take up the dye, no matter how much everyone may wish it. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਪੁ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਵਰਤ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ jap tap sanjam varat kare poojaa manamukh rog na jaaee | The self-willed manmukh may perform chants, meditations, austere self-discipline, fasts and devotional worship, but his sickness does not go away. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਈ ॥੨॥ antar rog mahaa abhimaanaa doojai bhaae khuaaee |2| Deep within him is the sickness of excessive egotism; in the love of duality he is ruined. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ baahar bhekh bahut chaturaaee manooaa deh dis dhaavai | Outwardly, he wears religious robes and he is very clever, but his mind wanders in the ten directions. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੑੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥ haumai biaapiaa sabad na cheenai fir fir joonee aavai |3| Engrossed in ego, he does not remember the Word of the Shabad; over and over again, he is reincarnated. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ naanak nadar kare so boojhai so jan naam dhiaae | O Nanak, that mortal who is blessed with the Lord’s Glance of Grace, understands Him; that humble servant meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥ gur parasaadee eko boojhai ekas maeh samaae |4|4| By Guru’s Grace, he understands the One Lord, and is absorbed into the One Lord. ||4||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਗਰੀ ਖੋਜਿ ਖੋਜਾਈ ॥ guramat nagaree khoj khojaaee | Following the Guru’s Teachings, I searched and searched the body-village; - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ har har naam padaarath paaee |1| I found the wealth of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ merai man har har saant vasaaee | The Lord, Har, Har, has enshrined peace within my mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tisanaa agan bujhee khin antar gur miliai sabh bhukh gavaaee |1| rahaau | The fire of desire was extinguished in an instant, when I met the Guru; all my hunger has been satisfied. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥ har gun gaavaa jeevaa meree maaee | Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I live, O my mother. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ ॥੨॥ satigur deaal gun naam drirraaee |2| The Merciful True Guru implanted the Glorious Praises of the Naam within me. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਢੂਢਿ ਢੂਢਾਈ ॥ hau har prabh piaaraa dtoodt dtoodtaaee | I search for and seek out my Beloved Lord God, Har, Har. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥ satasangat mil har ras paaee |3| Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I have obtained the subtle essence of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ dhur masatak lekh likhe har paaee | By the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon my forehead, I have found the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੧॥ guramukh har har naam samaae |1| The Gurmukh merges in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ ॥ har rang raataa man rang maane | Imbued with the Lord’s Love, the mortal enjoys the pleasure of His Love. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sadaa anand rahai din raatee poore gur kai sabad samaane |1| rahaau | He remains always blissful, day and night, and he merges into the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥ guramukh rang chaloolaa hoee |2| the Gurmukh is imbued with the deep red color of His Love. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨਰੁ ਕੋਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ manamukh mugadh nar koraa hoe | The foolish, self-willed manmukh is left pale and uncolored. - Guru Ramdas Ji
